How to Breed Axolotls in Minecraft - Java, Bedrock, MCPE

This quick video tells you how to find axolotls, how to breed axolotls and how to care for axolotls. Everything you need to know to breed all colours, and how to keep them alive. Works in all versions.

When axolotls were first introduced in 1.17 we could find and collect the blue Anjanette. It was changed in 1.17.1 to only be obtainable through breeding, and suddenly we are all contributing to explosions in axolotl populations!

Great video. I have them because they are cute but I am also trying for the blue one. So far, I'm about 50 breedings in with no luck. But I just collected 10 more buckets of tropical fish and will try again soon.

I have some Axolotls in buckets in a chest somewhere. I haven't got round to making a tank for them yet.
I think I won't go for breeding a blue one..... I just don't have the patience for them odds. If I get one then cool. If not then so be it.

Hi Dreyma, ah the elusive Blue, me & Julie were trying for one before they made the {have to be breed change} .. i have a couple on a server so can't breed crazily to find a blue one, but will in my solo world once i find a lush cave biome. {im cursed [i mean blessed] with dripstone & skulk} The Brown are also known as Wild & the Pink as Lucy. My favourites are the Cyan. Thanks for all the info in breeding ect i am going to need SO MANY buckets & tropical fish! Great tutorial Thanks Dreyma

An axolotl army is very useful ArtChick, but the blue is hard to come by. Still, trying for it keeps the ranks well stocked.

If I have only brown and pink axolotls, is there any chance that I could get a yellow one by breeding?

No, you'll get a brown or a pink, or, weirdly and on a very small chance, the rare blue. But yellow and cyan (the other colour) are both fairly easy to find. Wherever you found your brown and pink ones, just wait around there and the others will spawn in sooner or later. Hope this is helpful ddylan4cats
