For those who keep rewatching this, I saw a lot of reactions where people were confused of the ending so I thought I can share my perspective and understanding on why it ended the way he did, for some of you that are still confused.
Actually, if you rewatch the second to the last song which was “Die For Love,” you see him running towards the lady. We can see that she was trying to follow the vehicle where Hanbin was in because she was in the middle of the road when he hugged her.
Now, I suspect that that was where the lady announced the end of their relationship, and it made sense because she put him in danger multiple times. She might have realized that her influence caused him to make bad / reckless decisions, when she knows he is a good man. So she ended the relationship likely thinking it would redirect him to the right path or to not burden him by staying in the relationship.
Which made sense why in the last episode it was titled “Time is up,” and which is why he was sad and alone. I also thought it was a cool touch where his gaze looked lost on the last episode, because even if the close up was on his face, it seems as though he was reliving the memory where she walked away from him after breaking up with him. A very sad and touching ending but it is such a masterpiece.
And I also appreciate the foreshadowing in “Michaelangelo” (third to the last episode), where he had a bad dream of the lady disappearing from the bedroom, which was complemented on the last episode with “Truth.”
Final note: I can clearly see all the fantastic efforts of the staff involved in making this masterpiece and I appreciate Hanbin for having us feel a rollercoaster of emotions on this film. Thank you so much and I think that having this way of expressing the album should be done more often in the future. The message behind each song complemented the short episodes. Keep up the great and passionate work! ❤
