Honey Buzz is great! I also really like Wonderland's War, and Endless Winter has a really nice production also. Oros deluxe edition just delivered recently, and it is really nice. The inserts and wooden pieces are beautiful. Although the player dashboards leave a little to be desired, it is still a really cool game! Currently, Wonderland's War is my favorite of those three. It is a chef's kiss of a board game. Although, for this one too the player dashboards are sub-par for a deluxe game (too thin). It is still amazing and super fun. It's nice to have some games in the collection that are different (mechanism wise), and this is the only bag builder I own. Thanks for another corker! Loved seeing some of your pimped up games. Interesting to hear you bought RA deluxe from a shop! I thought you might only have been able to get that from the Kickstarter! The only deluxe games I own are ones I actually made myself! I made my own deluxe copy of AZUL (all hail Michael Keisling!) with ceramic tiles that are glazed; with hand painted player boards which are inset so the tiles nestle neatly in place. And I also made my own deluxe HANABI using wooden blocks that I laser cut with firework symbols and painted black with bright colours in the laser- carved shapes. I’d love to own Foundations of Rome and RA!
Wow! I would love to see both of those creations. I'm sure they are much nicer since you made them yourself!! We were very surprised to find Ra in our local game store and even more surprised to find it on sale for their one year anniversary. Thank you for this nice video. I only have one Deluxe Kickstarter board game, and that is Euphoria with really great pieces like the metal gold bars and a lot of nice wodden pieces and big dices. Also the game board looks really colorful and inviting, so you do want to play just by looking at the board.

Queen Games dropped the ball not only on quality of box but on price of this series and on absolute lack of respect for backers (whole story with Hamburg and horrid design of the board...). As positive: I had a similar situation with split box for Merlin Big Box edition and they were SUPERB in replacing it. As usual: FANTASTIC material. Pure joy to watch and listen!!!
I spend a lot of games and love Stefan Feld games. I wouldn't touch the Kickstarter with a 10 foot pole due to the price. 1 of those games could get me 2-3 big box euros
I was surprised how ugly the new ones looked so I ended up just getting the old zman edition of Bruges. Cost me only slightly more and it's a better game.

Delightful video! I succumb to the deluxe temptation too and it's not always worth it, some companies just know they'll attract us like bees to honey pan intended and deliver subpar productions. "Consumption food and choices" comes to mind as an example where "deluxe" wooden components were worse than cardboard ones. Chocolate Factory hurts to see as it is one of the deluxe games I backed on KS and waited patiently for it to be delivered but my copy got lost or was never sent (can't be sure) and when I told them they refunded my pledge saying they decided to not try and replace it because too many copies were lost en route to Greece! Never backing their projects again.

Great idea for a video, thanks! On a sentimental note, my favorite deluxe game is the first one I ever got, Orleans by TMG. I only wish that the expansions had been 'deluxified' as well. As far as Queen Games goes, I agree with you about the boxes and I think that the inserts are flimsy as well. I will say that in my dealings with their customer service, they have been aces. They sent me New York City and supposedly the copy of Amsterdam that I ordered was in with it, but it was not. They confirmed and within a day, Amsterdam was on its way to me.
Certainly glad you were able to get the missing game issue worked out. We have yet to hear from them about our damaged boxes, missing box sleeve, and missing components. We bought the after-market bits for Orleans and tricked the game out that way. Sorry that TMG is no longer around as we loved their deluxified games. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I got the Pharaoh edition Ra and another friend got the new normal retail edition. Even though the retail edition is also beautiful, having seen both really justified paying for the deluxe edition. I really appreciate the roomier bag and the chunky tiles.
retail is better casue this wooden are to heavy and getting this outside somwhere with public transport is horrible and the wooden / carton there is not much diffrence. I would love to take the wooden to feel more "premium" but usability in that one sucks.

Hey, Great video! I just wanted to ask, do you like Chai just for 2 players? I wanted to pick it up, but at BGG it is not recommended for 2... I remember from your other videos, you saying all games you talk about have to be great for 2 players. We mostly play only 2 so I was wondering if it is worth getting for 2 players. Thank you :) Edit: I remember from watch it played, there is changed rule, that you have to, every turn, discard the leftmost collumn of tea tiles... so that might help with the market changing more for fewer players?
We really enjoy playing Chai at 2 players. It is a nice, lightweight game. We have always played it with the rule to discard the leftmost column of tiles at the end of the round. There is a 2 player only version of the game but I don't know if it will ever be available since company seems to be going out of business before fulfilling the Kickstarter. Glad you mentioned that the game has to be good first over components. This is one of the reasons I’ve stopped supporting as many kickstarters. The focus always seems to be on MORE STUFF at the expense of gameplay
I agree with you with regards to Queen Games. It would be one thing if it was the first foray into crowdfunding for a publisher, but Queen has been around for years. Additionally, the amount of money they were asking for really should have guaranteed higher quality. I'm sorry that was a bad experience for you.

I wanted to get the deluxe for Ra so badly but it costs soo much here. $220 aud. Compared to $78 for retail. Going up to $220 is going the Castles of Burgundy range which I thought was more bang for my buck. But will pick up the retail instead. UPDATE: Great News! Today the deluxe copy for RA just miraculously appeared at another website I buy my board games and its $70 cheaper. Converted to US $ its around $15AUD more on top which I’m happy to pay for.

I don't have many deluxe versions, but I try and deluxify them myself by sleeving and painting minis. I do have Mind Mgmt Deluxe which I'm incredibly happy with. I have Cat in the Box Deluxe, which I'm not sure why, is not really a deluxe, but nevertheless an extremely fun game. Between that and The Crew: Mission Deep Sea, they are my most favourite Trick Taking games.

I don’t have many delux games but, man, any Eagle-Gryphon games are a delightful deluxe game: I have Lisboa and The Gallerist, gorgeous games. Also Rococo Deluxe is so beautiful 🤩. Also Caper: Europe by Mastermind games Deluxe, is top noch

I owned Iwari. The production is great and i played the previous version of the game (Han) but it just didn't click. Back in the day when i sold Han i really liked the gameplay and thought i wanted a better looking game, with a little bit of extra for more variation, but Iwari was too much for my taste. It made me miss Han with it's Carcassonne sized box that easily fit everything.

Totally agree. We did spend the money on the first 4 in the City Collection purely due to our love of Stefan Feld. We will not be doing that again.

Ra, Iwari, and Honey Buzz would make my list too. I think I would also put Foundations of Rome (despite it's gargantuan size) and Gugong in my Top 5.
You are right, those are also great choices. The deluxe version of Gugong is very nice and Foundations of Rome is just off the charts.

Personally my favourite deluxe games are Ankh, Eclipse Second Dawn of the Galaxy, alongside your choices of Ra and Iwari
