The first story, God that was so sad, the thought of children being hurt in any way just boils my blood ! This is a true story im about to tell, last summer in Scotland where I live, I was walking my whippet through our local woods at about 8am, she is a well trained hunter and protecter. She zero'd in on a scent that turned into soft crying, we had walked up on a rape taking place, Luna my dog jumped on the guy and sunk her teeth into his back while I kicked him on the head and pulled the girl away and covered her with my jacket. Luna held the creep while we waited on the police, what a day that was ☹ the girl was 15 and is now a family friend and doing well.
Luna my dog is the hero in my eyes, could have been very different if she wasn't around to sniff it out and then act. The young girl now takes my Luna on walks, it started out as a safety thing for her but they're best friends now lol !
Story 1: Dude, you seem to be carrying a lot of guilt that's misplaced. A week really isn't that long for a kid to process that an adult he looked up to is a very bad person and to then decide to do something about it. There are grown ass adults who take much longer. You did right. It's not your fault the justice system failed Maria, and that that bastard wasn't ostracized by the town like he should have been, and that Maria's life ended so tragically. If you'd spoken up any sooner the outcome wouldn't have been any different. I hope you find peace. You deserve it.

I was bothered by this story… she was 16-17 she was closer to an adult than a child. In many states the age of consent is 16. She made her own choice to hook up with a teacher. I was living on the streets at 17 shooting drugs and surviving on my own. At 16 you can drive a death trap, so you should be able to make choices to who you hook up with. The writer of the story shouldn’t feel any guilt what-so-ever. They did nothing wrong. There was no proof, there is nothing the system can do with no evidence. I mean if they locked up everyone accused of things with no proof (which they do already) there would be more prisons than schools. There wasn’t enough info for me to draw a true conclusion. But the way it sounds is someone got caught in an illegal relationship and then was embarrassed and twisted what really happened, but like I said I can’t say with the info given. So true. The stories are getting quite disturbing imo, like the recent night drive stories. I mean supernatural stories don't get me much, but stories like this one sure does. 😅
The Bone Breaker of Baraboo was covered in an episode of a podcast called Small Town Murder, and they went in depth on what happened to the kid over his captivity and the details of the trial. It's really good and gives a lot of depth to the case, but not for the faint of heart.
The end of Ken's story honestly made me happy. I live in a small rural town nowadays. The law can fail us all of course, but I believe that failure is more strongly connected to a flaw inherent in all large cities/communities.
The story of the Guy that tormented every one was a great Injustice to the people. They took the law into their hands and he was all pumped up and his wife should been happy because she knew what he did to her family and everyone . Kudos to those involved !
Yeah I can't understand why she was so upset that he had been killed, I thought she was supposed to have been terrified of him? All I can think of is that since she was so young (12) at the time, she must have been brutalised and manipulated into thinking he cared about her. I guess we'll never know and the only person who does is his wife.
As someone who was assaulted at 5, I'm naturally guarded wherever I go. Where it be a small town or the big city and whatnot. Poor Maria, I hope she rests in peace.
Clearly I've lost some humanity over the years [too many westerns and 10 seasons of the Walking Dead], but I think that $17,000 that one town spent was the BEST money ever spent....!
Jamie, if you are talking about the Walking Dead’s gun stuff, you know how epic it is, right. I mean what’s cooler than watching 7 year olds in grown up bodies play with toy pew pews.
I think I know the episode you're talking about. Is it the one where the 20 something year old falls down a cliff I believe and drags himself for I think several miles trying to find help?
In story 1, I’m so glad you went to your mother for her to handle it. And that she conferred with Maria’s mother privately before talking to Maria. You handled the best you can and only hope for the best but as life would have it sometimes it just doesn’t work out. My condolences to Maria and her family.
These are great stories. I come from a small town and I agree with the conclusion of the author of the first story, about people there choosing not to see..! Well said.
It’s a true story. There’s a movie called “In Broad Daylight .” Also a few books. To this day no one has talked. He did a lot of other dirty deeds besides what was told in this short story.
STORY #2 - I've seen this story featured on other crime shows, but this was the absolute BEST account, which is a damn shame because the TV shows had the advantage of reenactment actors and actresses, but 'Let's Read' had was his remarkable knack for story telling and a plethora of vital information [obviously] bypassed by all the others. ...This is one of my favorites, right up there with Rachel Wade and Gertrude Baniszewski.
I am from St Joe Mo, about 30 mins from Skidmore, Ken McElroy is buried here in St Joe, I drove through Skidmore one night and was stopped by two trucks of townspeople asking what we were doing, they had guns in their window, they made us leave town and watched us leave. Pretty crazy. The movie "In Broad Daylight" staring Brian Dennehy is outstanding!
Great job man. Having grown up in a small central Texas country town, let me say these not only resonate but is only a fraction of what trouble "country style" can be. Murder, drug runners, disappearances, cartels, human trafficking, weird cryptids, violent motorcycle clubs, serial killers, cults, ghost encounters, organized crime, government conspiracy and more....all beneath a surface of sweet tea and polite manners. We had it all. And I STILL think it's was a great place to grow up and exceeds city living by far. Evil knows no borders.
Story #2 - Wasn't that made into a movie? I think I remember watching it. Plus, neighbors turning against someone and refusing to point out their murderer happens every day. The no-snitching rule some horrible urban areas have is disgusting.
Story 2: I always found two things about that story intriguing: the authorities were never interested in convicting that criminal, yet they were livid and determined to prosecute the people who removed him. This particular version of the story doesn't detail how many times authorities turned a blind eye to his crimes and seemed to be even actively protecting him. Clearly they valued this felon very highly for whatever reasons they had. Thankfully they failed in their endeavours.
Wow this freaked me right out when I found out Joe Clark the Bone breaker really happened! Holy shite man. Creepy. I love this channel. So many cool stories to keep me going for a bit. 🇨🇦❤️
I totally googled Thad Phillips and Joe Clarke and dang man... Just wow. Such a crazy story. Thad is a survivor and he tells his story as an adult. UA-cam Thad Phillips if you want to hear him speak about it as an adult. So crazy to me.
I’ve lived in Baraboo, WI my whole life! Born and raised here. And when they say it’s a small town? Everyone knows everyone and everyone’s business.. I grew up on the south side of Baraboo and hung out with Thad’s kids and have interacted with him when I was younger. He’s such a cool guy! And he still has his limp still till this day. I didn’t believe his kids when I was younger and their dad almost being killed by the “bone breaker killer” until I got older and my parents told me that it was true. Joes victim that had passed away and was found in the baraboo river believe it or not my aunt had baby sat him and his siblings. You wouldn’t believed me unless you lived in a small town like me and know that I’m really not lying when EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYONE!
How in the hell did the Skidmore situation ever go that far? Was there not one man in the entire town to handle this guy? The girl's dad? Are you kidding me? A grown man after his twelve-year-old daughter and he just let it happen? Truly sad, that girl never got to see what it was like to have a real father protect her.
I'm from Missouri and the story about Skidmore Missouri is oh so very very true. I've drove through that town but you don't ever stop you don't want to do that ever never just drive on as quickly as possible
Story #1…that’s just being a teenager. I don’t really understand why my high school principal decided I’d be a likely victim at 6’1”, 220, mostly muscle and a serious attitude. But, he tried. I let him unconscious on his office floor. But, even though I had nothing to hide, I didn’t tell anyone why. I just accepted getting kicked out. Later, I realized I was but one of many. One guy committed suicide because of it. As an adult, I feel guilty that I didn’t call that principal out publicly. At the time, the beating seemed sufficient. It wasn’t.
The end of that Ken story was silly. “Be careful, for if you terrify and harass a small town, you may find they fight back eventually”. I don’t think regular decent people need to worry about that 😂

I do it while working on art
I do too! Also while doing chores.:-)
As soon as you said the bonebreaker i already knew about it from 'I shouldn't be alive' something about breaking bones really haunts me
I think I know the episode you're talking about. Is it the one where the 20 something year old falls down a cliff I believe and drags himself for I think several miles trying to find help?
@@nrnsclark94 yeah I think you're right and now relooking I think it was "I survived " and not "I shouldn't be alive"
"You" the "narrator" have the
"BEST VOICE" I've EVER heard !!!!!!!
McElroy received something called JUSTICE. The country could use more of that these days.
when push comes to shove , even the old lady down the street can become the punisher
Definitely
yes indeed. we need a whole lot more of it in America.especially nowadays.
In story 1, I’m so glad you went to your mother for her to handle it. And that she conferred with Maria’s mother privately before talking to Maria. You handled the best you can and only hope for the best but as life would have it sometimes it just doesn’t work out. My condolences to Maria and her family.
Yay! So keen for storied! thank you for making it a better day 😌🖤
You are an awesome narrator you read other people's stories with compassion and respect thank you you always pick the best let's read 😊
I love hearing these stories but at the same time I hate how sad how some of these are 😞 and how I can’t do anything but listen 😔
blah blah cry me a river
@@LeatherfacePapi toxic much?
@@LeatherfacePapi lack of empathy much? You're giving off McElroy vibes 🤷♀️
@@Gilrin_man, I see right through you your rap is Reynolds!!! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
@@Gilrin_why would you tell him, lack of empathy??? Do you even know the meaning!!!!
Story #1 Damn. Glad you and Maria spoke up. These were brutal, but an interesting topic. As always appreciate your research.
Woooo!!! I'm so excited! I need to pack for utah and I love listening to your stories to focus. You are awesome!
safe trip
Grew up in a small town - 60s/70s - everything your story says about them us sooo true.
R.I.P. Maria! My condolences to the family. Very sad what happened to her. I’m so glad that man is in prison for life, for killing those boy’s.
Story 2 fills me with joy. Animals like that need to be put down like animals. Justice was done on that day.
I’ve been sick all weekend if only I could take a bath while listening to some stories it’s be perfect
I love your videos !!! Keep it up dude I look forward to every upload!
Having a daughter of my own. The microwave story is absolutely heartbreaking and makes my blood boil🥺😢😤😡
There's a thunderstorm right now outside. Couldn't have a better setting to listen to horror stories
Not going to lie, I get very excited every time you upload!
When I heard "Small Missouri town", I knew what the story was about.
No doubt! I remember when that happened. I didn’t live very far from there at the time.
16:26 the dramatic long pause followed by "..and told my mom" made me burst into laughter
Story #2 - Wasn't that made into a movie? I think I remember watching it. Plus, neighbors turning against someone and refusing to point out their murderer happens every day. The no-snitching rule some horrible urban areas have is disgusting.
I listen to a lot of these, so after a while a lot of the stories run together and I forget them. That last one I won't be forgetting anytime soon.
Thankfully they failed in their endeavours.
too early for me to fall asleep, but definitely going to binge your channel until I do❤
Wow this freaked me right out when I found out Joe Clark the Bone breaker really happened! Holy shite man. Creepy. I love this channel. So many cool stories to keep me going for a bit. 🇨🇦❤️
Sweet, a new vid I can listen to while at work tomorrow
Surprisingly, all the stories gave me chills
*Man this one was rough. I usually fall asleep to these stories but now my stomach is in knots..*
A real king🤴
Need to get this man to 1 mil
Omfg bro one of your best uploads in recent memory. The first story was INSANE I was reeled in so tight, same with the last one!!
I totally googled Thad Phillips and Joe Clarke and dang man... Just wow. Such a crazy story. Thad is a survivor and he tells his story as an adult. UA-cam Thad Phillips if you want to hear him speak about it as an adult. So crazy to me.
i’ve literally watched all of your vids bestie 💜
THANK YOU!!!! so glad this popped up on my feed right before bed 🖤😴
Wow, these stories were intense and horrific, gave me chills for sure.
Story 1. Sad and frightening. Brave kid!!
How do you always have the very BEST stories on the internet?!?! ♥
Thank you !
I think this narrator is fantastic!
You wouldn’t believed me unless you lived in a small town like me and know that I’m really not lying when EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYONE!
hearing this live last night was so fun but hearing now gives a totally different feel !!
Awesome stories- thank you so much! ❤
Damn, the Little John story breaks my heart.
These were some amazing stories!!!! You are by far the best narrator!! Much love from Colorado! 💜
I'm from Missouri and the story about Skidmore Missouri is oh so very very true. I've drove through that town but you don't ever stop you don't want to do that ever never just drive on as quickly as possible
Ooohhh your voice 😍 it's so relaxing.. And love the story's xo thank you 😄
Listening while driving to work on this cold, rainy, out of season Michigan morning😏
These types of long stories are my fav
These are great!! Excellent narration and story curation
It wasn’t.
Ken Rex McElroy was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
It was a hunting accident, he was sadly hit by a wolly stray bullits.
The end of that Ken story was silly. “Be careful, for if you terrify and harass a small town, you may find they fight back eventually”. I don’t think regular decent people need to worry about that 😂
It is a true story.
Silly?? 🙄
Thad is a tough little boy! Bravery personified. What a will to live.
I listen to alot of reddit, creepy pastas, NEVER heard these ones! These are Amazing stories!
Great stories! Thank you!!!
The first story is WILD! One of the best ones I’ve ever heard you publish. 😮🤭
