"Walt Disney used to take his daughters, Sharon and Diane, to the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round in Los Angeles, where the girls loved to ride a carousel with colorful wooden horses. It was here that Walt sat by himself on a park bench one day while watching his daughters and wondered why parents couldn’t join their children in all the fun. At that moment…on that park bench…he got the idea for a new theme park, a place where children and their parents could experience magical rides and attractions together…a place he would call “Disneyland”." What a wonderful thing to do for people. :)
Tomorrow is my 15th birthday, and today I remembered this beautiful instrumental. Every minute of this song reminded me of my childhood with Disney... It's an inexplicable feeling that I love. I really miss being just a little girl. 🥺🤍
When I was a child I used to play the trumpet. I was part of a children's small orchestra and we played this piece. Hear the 3:50 part? Imagine being 8, surrounded by brass instruments and, just behind you, a kettledrum, and you're part of it, and you're all playing this with all your heart. I haven't experienced many moments that felt more intense since then.
Thanks for sharing that memory and feeling. I just went back to that moment and imagined a bunch of kids performing. It gave me chills! What a special moment!
I sure do miss when Disney was this... This older style of music, older style of animation everything was magic cause it was from the heart and translated by hand. Not from the mind and translated through a computer. As someone who works for Disney I honestly still love it but humbly admit it isn't and will probably never be what used to be. From the audience to the creators a younger generation with different values are taking over and people like us are the last of a dying breed. Thank God for archives. This particular song makes everyone feel happiness whether they admit it or not is because it was created to capture the essence of Walt Disney's dream imagination. Hearing it gives me hope that one day Disney will not go back to what it used to be, but grow into what it should be. A symbol of youth and happiness through creativity, dreams, ambition, imagination, and magic.
Aj, you'll never get an argument from me on this. Ever since Walt died, the Disney name has gone to s*** and it is so painful to see what has become of it. I went through traditions when I was hired years ago, but I quickly realized just how bad everything was under the surface. They don't try anymore with the stories, the music, anything... I am literally crying right now thinking about how the good is all gone from the Disney name and how disgustingly robotic it's become. It's all gone. All that was good is gone.
As a Disneyland cast member, I sometimes forget I'm at Disneyland. Even when I'm at home, I don't think about it much. But then, it'll hit me that I'm living the dream of 5-12 year old me, being able to experience the sights and sounds of the greatest moments of my childhood again as an adult. I hear this song every night and sing along to it every night. But hearing this rendition and reading the comments stopped me from singing along and actually made me think back to when I was that 5-12 year old kid. Meeting the Mad Hatter and having him sign my autograph book, walking through Adventureland, riding The Haunted Mansion for the first time, or my sister on my dad's shoulders, walking down Main Street at night holding my parents' hand as we leave for the night after the fireworks and parades, and the feeling of pure happiness after a great day. The kind of happiness where you might cry, but laugh instead. The feeling that only Disney can give a person. This song gives me that feeling.
Walt was a part of that magic. I wish I could've met the man. I really want to know who he really was. though to be honest, in someway I think Bob Iger is a part of it now. sometimes i wonder if he isn't secretly Walt, but thats a different conversation. anyway, Bob has protected the legacy when no one else would, and i'm disappointed he retired, but hope for Bob Chapek to understand it, and carry it on.
my daughter will be walking down the aisle to this song with her dad this October...of coarse the wedding party first, then she and her dad..a magical song for a magical moment...I can't wait..I know I will bawl my eyes out...lol...dreams come true!!!
FYI to everyone since I don’t see it in comments anywhere, Pinocchio is to thank for this song or should I say mr.cricket , that’s we’re Disney first herd “when you wish upon a star” in Pinocchio’s 1940 film , after they stated to use the song as the main theme for all movies and shows etc it became the signature song of Disney
It's so crazy to think about grad nite back in 2013. Not very long ago at all, but seeing fireworks at Disneyland with so many smiling faces with this song playing in the background reminds me of my happiest time with all my closest friends. I wish I could go back because I knew that night nothing would ever be the same again. So many of my friends would go their own way. It chokes me up to think about that night. Definitely a memory I will always cherish. Perhaps the best memory I have made so far.
A big classic. Those melodies that used to play in disney movies, bring me back to my childhood. And in the same time that music makes me upset because I know I cant return to those times .. DAMN :
This is one of my all time favorite Disney songs, and for many reasons. First of all, the music is absolutely serene. It brings to memory the nostalgia of Disneyland and the wonders of early childhood. Second, it represents to me what Walt Disney intended Disney to be: happiness for all, not a large corporation that generates cash by ripping off its consumers. Finally, I love the song because of what it stands for. The lyrics "When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are," truly encapsulate the aims of Disney towards adults in my opinion. It says to even the most cynical, realistic adults: "no matter who you are, if you simply remember what it was like when you were a naive child and wish and believe, then your dreams can come true." This song simply speaks to me and reminds me that although the world can be a terrible place, there is merit in simply viewing the world as a child does, and striving and wishing and believing in the dreams that you have always desired, no matter the realism of this hope.
Me encanta esa melodía! Es un regalo para mis oidos y llena mucho mi corazón , grandes y bellos recuerdos llegan a mi memoria! Gracias por publicar esa melodía! Es realmente mágica!
I get goosebumps whenever i listen to this song. Then i start to think about Disneyland... and how much fun it is. Even when i'm leaving, and i see little kids faces when the first walk in, brings a good feeling back into me
Never gets old! I could write an entire paragraph about just this. To the point where I am crying inside right now! It’s just to nostalgic. But to steer away from writing an essay. Lol. This song just touches my heart as if I were 5 years old to the hotel and the excitement building as I am going to my favorite place.
I've been to Disney World three times. The last time was at the beginning of the year, and I was already 15. I went with my friends and they all enjoyed all the roller coasters and that stuff. But me... Oh, there wasn't a single instant I didn't enjoy. I enjoyed all the shows and all the games and absolutely everything. Disney movies really touch my heart. I knew every character I saw and seeing them there, even for the third time, was something magical. Listening to this song makes me want to go to Disney World again. I feel like crying.
My dad always used to sing this for me at christmas time when i was little and i always think of him when i hear this :,) Always brings a little tear to my eye.
Remeber walking through disneyland on the way out listening to disney orchestra music with all the speakers throughout !!! It was magical ! Glad i found these !!!
Whenever I listen to this, I can just imagine a huge mural with all the Disney characters, the Cinderella castle in the background and of course, Tinkerbell flying around it with a stream of pixie dust.
They played this song in the entrance of Disneyland. Couldn't help but tear up. Disney just gives you this amazing, wonderful feeling that you forget everything and try to live in your dreams. Thank you, Disney!!
I sure do miss when Disney was this... This older style of music, older style of animation everything was magic cause it was from the heart and translated by hand. Not from the mind and translated through a computer. As someone who works for Disney I honestly still love it but humbly admit it isn't and will probably never be what used to be. Essa música faz surgir em meu coração os sentimentos mais nobres e belos ... acessar um Mundo de Magia que a vida adulta às vezes nos faz esquecer que ele existe ... so beautiful!
Someone please take me back I went in January on my 12th grade senior trip and I miss it so much. 😰 it was not a fun experience with my school so I wasn’t to go back to have a better experience.
When you wish upon a star Makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires Will come to you If your heart is in your dream No request is too extreme When you wish upon a star As dreamers do Like a bolt out of the blue Fate steps in and sees you through When you wish upon a star Your dreams come true
Disney had all the great classics by far. Too bad people today see them as violent and banned them. They had moral messages back then, now we have cartoons for children with adult puns which distort the childhood of the youth. The same can be said of Looney Toons. Mel Blanc was a genius as well.
Disney kind of represent God's kingdom. A peaceful happiest place on Earth where all type race of people get together and live happily with love and harmony living in a beautiful wonderful place forever. I always like Disney cause I'm young in heart.
Way back in the 1970's, I took the whole family to Disneyland. I wasn't making anywhere near big money in those days, but it was affordable. Today, even if I was making very good $$$$ (and I'm long retired), there's no way I could anywhere near afford it. What a shame!!!!

Amazing! Nobody can ever be too old for Disney!
That's true:) I love Disney!!:)
I used to think Disney people were nerds. Now I am that nerd.
The older you get, the more special simple joys like Disney are!

For people who don't believe in magic.... they only need to listen to this. All the magic is right here.

Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme

As dreamers do
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Southern Gent Banned them?? I'm not sure where you live but here in The Netherlands the clasics are certainly not banned most kids know them.
TMC Productions
The U.S. has stopped playing Disney classics and Looney Tunes stating they are too violent.
Could you give me a source? I can't seem to find it myself.
TMC Productions
Yes, it's not on TV anymore. That's the first evidence.
Google it. I did and it's all over the place. Saying looney tunes is racist.
the theme song for every incorporated Disney movie

Isn't this where they got the them for their Disney introduction
Mysteryo yep. Both the old opening from the 90s and the new ensemble opening
Nah you can hear this part 3:50. I sure they use that part for the intro. That part is very accurate with the intro.
this song makes everyone cry ;')
