Also, alot of people like me need something compact so this is the kit for people looking for a good kit with not much room. I think that's why they kept it at that size. In my opinion this kit sounds better than rolands or alesis kits that are around the 2k to 4k range

I bought the $999 version of this kit with the rubber pads as my first e kit. I wanted a kit that wouldn't take up a lot of space but still had realistic acoustic sounds. For me it was between this and a Roland TD-07KV. I went with the Yamaha because of the module and have been very happy with it. I am in the process of converting a 13 inch acoustic snare to an edrum because the 8 inch snare is just too small. A 10 inch snare would have made a huge difference. I agree that Yamaha is charging too much for these kits. Also the cheapest model uses the old bass drum pad. They should have used the new bass drum pad on all the models. If they did that and at least included a 10 inch snare while keeping the prices the same it would be much more appealing. The $1800 price tag for the top of the line model is ridiculous. The price on all the models should have been $200 less for what you get.

Hey man! Great channel. I want to ask you a question and I'm sure you get this quite a lot... I'm thinking about purchasing an Alesis Strike Pro SE but I really wanted to ask you about the customization based on some of the videos I've seen on your channel. So... you can buy a regular drumset and replace the heads with the electronic drumheads from the Alesis strike pro se? Or have I misinterpreted some of your videos?

MHO: yeah definitely overpriced, but the pads(including the new bass drum) have the best feeling when playing, and they don't sound/feel as hard as rubber. If I would play 4 hours in a hard rubber pad, everyday for years in a row probably I'll end up with my joints hurting in no time. That's why for me is a no brainer, even though the price is high...

The module sounds great and I love how they took the 3 control knobs from the EAD-10 and incorporated those into the unit. The EAD-10 from Yamaha is fantastic product. The new module can also load in multi velocity samples, it does not have a very large memory, however that is an awesome feature. I’m currently saving for a td-27 however if Yamaha released a higher tier module with these features that could definitely change me decision. Currently I have a td-17 and an Alesis strike module with very upgraded td-11kv pads. Hopefully will get to play this at a Guitar center and hear the sounds in person.

@@dewayne5533 I just have the strike module, not full kit. The Yamaha module looks great 👍 and has awesome features. I’m just going to wait and see if they give the dtx700/900 a refresh of the modules like yours. Those Yamaha pads are nice but just too small for me. The dtx multi 12 is a fantastic multipad however it does not have enough storage space for me. I love the strike module for its 8 direct outs and ability to
Load in multi layer samples VST’s so I don’t need laptop on stage.

@@williamperri3437 the cymbols on this kit are amazing also, I still love everything about it, the sounds that are in the module has no match on the market if you ask me, the drum pads themselves are smaller than on other kits but play really good, the new bass drum pad is awesome also, it feels just like a real bass drum

The cool thing about these kits (I think the DTX6K2-X is the one worth the money) is that you can upgrade the pads on the future. There's a tutorial from a Yamaha guy on how you can configure the module for different pads.
I'd buy a PDX12 for the snare and three PDX100s for the toms and, vualà, you have a nice decently sized kit. The cymbals are great as they are.
But if you want something with large sizes or of the box, then just go with the TD17KVX. Both sets are fantastic.

Third party pads don't play well at all with Yamaha Modules. I know the video you are talking about, but he had to jump through hoops to get the pads to play nice with the module. Typically you cannot just plug-n-play other manufactures pads with Yamaha modules.

So basically the only issue you have is the pad sizes and the types of pads but everything else is amazing? Seems like a small qualm to me. Not everyone is looking to gig out with these things. I don't need it to look like a real kit. It's a practice thing for many people like myself

Roland uses real drum samples too. I don't know why so many people think they don't.

Dude, I just bought a mint used Strike Pro for 1K. There's no way I'd consider this as a reasonable choice. These look like a kit you'd buy your 5 year old for Christmas at Best Buy.

Is yamaha forcing me to buy the mid model and upgrade the pad later.
Since it what i look they're trying to do.

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  3 роки тому

You're question is somewhat confusing but if I understand correctly, no I don't think they're trying to make you buy the mid model, I think what they're actually doin is trying to sell their new module and packaging it with old stock pads. Basically if you get this kit, any of them, know that outside of the module, you'll be getting brand new-old tech and will most likely be made even more out of date when Yamaha release their next line of drums which will have whatever their newer version hardware is. So if you're okay with new-old tech and the sizes of the pads and the overall price, it seems to be a good module and still quality made kit. Just one that will be made obsolete in the near future by Yamaha themselves.

This kit is sooo stuppid..it makes me angry 😅 "They made a kick pad" 😂 ...a few months ago some drum influencers were brought to Germany to shoot some Top Secret promo videos for Yamaha and they were all saying the new e-kits are aaaamazing, so I was thinking digital pads, new algorithms and a bunch of Area 51 technology.....and then they came up with this bull crap...a total facepalm

I’ve gotta hear 👂 more Cymbals! Maybe if the Crashes sound good 👍 I will sell my TD17 Module and buy this Yamaha Module and use it as a Dedicated Crashes Module!
Because the TD17 Module Crashes Sound Awesome and the Cymbal Swells are like FIRE 🔥
BUT I CANNOT STAND THE DAMN CABLE SNAKE 🐍 BULLSHHHHHHHHTTTTTTT!’

Hahaha fr tho those rubber pads ain't gonna cut it.
But right?!? The cymbals sound legit like VST good man. I wonder if the new module is all proprietary still like their old stuff. Cymbals alone tho yeah I think the Yamaha will be better. Roland cymbals trigger well but if you compare the sound they sound more synthesized but still good. Yamaha you're hearing an actual cymbal being hit. That's one thing tho - haven't heard any cymbal swells and we all know how embarrassing the Yamaha cymbal swells were lol

Hey I'm just trying to cover for them being retarded about bring out these 90s e drum pads. OBVIOUSLY they have the ability and funds but wether or not those funds are available to their e drum department is anybody's guess. Whatever the reason is for them selling 7" rubber pads in 2020 (2021 now) it's ridiculous and could cost them their opportunity to actually come back as what was lik the second biggest e drum company so.
Yamahas cool but IMO they dropping the ball atm with these kits as a whole. The module seems pretty dece tho.
