If the story was not focused on Izuku Kaminari would be a great substitute as main character, he has most traits of a shonen hero: Spiky hair, not very bright, very friendly, a strong but hard to control power that makes him weak at the beginning of the series until he learns to control it.
He just needs to focus on hand-to-hand. He can cover his body in electricity and use electric fueled punches and kicks. Also using a chain he could have an electric whip.
He says he always wished for a sword also in one's Justice he does the electric body thing

A couple thoughts:
He needs to train in hand to hand combat to utilize his quirk better.
He needs to learn from Bakugo and Deku, who have both learned to focus and limit the output of their power.
He needs learn how to emit his power in a narrow stream like Aoyama.
This stuff will allow him to ditch the clunky pointer/shooter item and allow him to carry items that are more versatile, like a metal whip/batons.
Someone mentioned wires like a stun gun and I rather like the idea. It could be made of material that he can control like Eraserhead’s cloth and he can tag team with Jiro. She can teach him how to use and aim these wires like her earplugs. Cue the shipping montage.
Speaking of shipping and stun guns, Jiro used him as a “human stun gun” during the USJ incident, which is why he is now the Stun Gun Hero.
His problem is why does he always use so many volts at a time, instead of like a million he could just grab someone’s arm and put like a thousand bolts into them, incapacitating them and not even coming near to his volt cap.
He's not athletic at all.

His quirk is arguable one of the strongest ones in the show, we just gotta fix his problem with fry'n his brain.
I got a feeling brain surgery might help like an insulator between his brain and the skull? It sounds ridiculous but its a cartoon so its okay. Also maybe he can have little tasers shoot from his costumes wrists, except he provides the voltage.
I think the problem is that no one ever gets hurt or dies from things that would kill you in real life (as examples, so far *no one* has suffered any acid burns from Ashido or regular burns from Bakugo's explosions, and no one has been disintegrated by being blasted with Aoyama's beam), so people with deadly quirks don't get a chance to seem useful. Kaminari was never given the chance to actually electrocute and incapacitate an opponent. They've always conveniently had some kind of shield or cover. If they'd only be touched by his million volts, they'd be dead. And here's another thing, too. He can control the output of power. Why should it always be in the millions? A mere 240 volts can be deadly, and he wouldn't have to be "dumb" after using his quirk.
@@O0001 Exactly. I never understood why Denki always used so much power. He doesn't need to. Personally, I think the secret to improving his power lies in martial skill rather than support items improving the quirk itself. Look at Bakugo for instance, part of what makes him such a devastating foe is that he has developed a unique fight still that compliments his quirk. Denki could do the same thing by mixing in martial arts with his shocks. Momentarily stunning an enemy in a fight could be the decider. Learning to fight with one of Momo's bo staffs could be useful too since he could probably charge it up and use it like a stun baton.

@@O0001 well, you're halfway correct. A human can survive a million volts, but if any amps are in it you're dead. tasers have thousands of volts going through them but they don't have any amps that's why they don't kill people they just stun them.
If Kaminari was less of a slacker he'd be pretty powerful. But that IS saying alot since he got in UA Class 1-A to begin with.

him being able to enhance his perception and fight off his short circet state by taking in electricity is such a cool idea. maybe he could carry around an electric battery pack to recharge himself in the future, both as a secret special move, and as an advantage to keep him self from being a liability.
One of my fav characters in MHA. The moment i saw his gadget that helps him direct his quirk i kinda thought its clunky and too big. Maybe in the future they'd downsize it fo easy movement, less weight, and not to easy to spot. Maybe the size of a watch or something coz that shit is big but still works the same way as his current one. And maybe they could add like a retractable metal string or whip that could wrap around and direct his electricity to the enemy.
That's my take on his gadget.😊

So he needs Killua's Godspeed
I want to see a killua style "godspeed" power for him. Where he can fight purely on instinct, assuming he learns hand to hand combat and bulks up a bit. He can even include brass knuckles for conductive and impact reasons.
I'm just waiting for the day where Kaminari redirects lightning like Iroh, Zuko, Ozai, Azula, and Aang.
Roy Thingamajig a bit late here but Ozai and Azula never redirected lightning. They can PRODUCE lightning, they can’t REDIRECT it. The only ones who have redirected lightning are Iroh, Zuko and Aang

He has one of the strongest powers/elements there is, and yet Denki is horribly underutilized. Also, remember how Denki started out as an adroit orator who could elocute caustic castigation upon even the most emotionally conflagrant compeer of 1-A? Now his vocabulary has been reduced to ineffectual and shallow terms such as "gross" and "harem". He also gets cheated a few times. Like in the tournament, or the practical exam. Really wish they had made him top tier, competing with the likes of Bakugo and Todoroki. Maybe his current status means he'll be on the same level as All Might in the future after he's mastered his quirk.
imagine if kaminari had a scarf (similar to that of erasers) that could conduct electricity...
I was thinking of something like a chain that he could manipulate and electrify. (Edit: pretty much the same thing now that I think about it)
@Denki Kaminari thanks, I think it would fit his rockstar style and would make him more useful in head to fights. Example of how it could work can be seen with Hazama (BlazBlue) and that dude from infamous second son.
A few thoughts here.
1. If he is the glue that holds them together, then he is my number one contender for a possible, future, death. As his loss would go to be felt by the entire class and pose a hurdle for them to conquer and rise through.
2. If he can take in electricity to counter his shutdown or give him a moment of enhanced thinking, would you call it a "Brain Blast"? Guess he's Gotta Blast ;)
3. Same as before, I would love to see a video of my man Tokoyami and his Dark Shadow.

It is actually incredible his most useful trait so far have been to completly counter other eletric users.
It seems like there are very few heroes capable of doing such a feat so he is a suprisingly powerful asset to the heroes as defence rather than a offensive hero.
Twice now we have seen him (once in the movie once in the manga) literally save the people around him from an otherwise deadly and almost impossible quirk to counter simply by absorbing it.
I've got an idea...after seeing Nighteye's weapons which were like weight-like things that he through, it reminded me of an electric user from an anime called a certain magical index...what if Kaminari had support items that were metal balls, I know that doesn't sound like much but hear me out...he could use conductive metal balls as projectiles, and he shoots them via his electricity...if you've heard of a railgun then you might get what I'm saying. He could store a few thousand volts into each of the balls then shoot them off at rapid speeds which would make for a very strong and useful projectile, plus the speed wouldn't decrease with how hard he throws it, but how much electricity he puts in it, meaning the more electricity he puts in it, the faster it flies, maybe even fast enough to keep Deku and Bakugou having to move or they would be hit. And he could just call it something with Railgun in it, I don't really care about that part right now:) But still, this would be so cool!
That would be awesome but wouldn’t it be as deadly as normal bullets? I don’t think it’d really be safe around other students and if it one-shots enemies, where’s the fun in battles (from a reader POV ofc) but then again, you got snipe sooooo I guess it’s not impossible

A recent anime episode, S4 17 maybe? One of the teachers puts up a very complicated math problems the class doesn’t get. Kaminari though, is shown racking his brain with electricity, before it fries. It might definitely be an anime-only gag, as I don’t remember it in the manga, but it seems feasible he dabbles with augmenting his brain, but given his lack of control it’s no wonder it failed.
Imagine a completely opposite ability to supercharge his brain for a few moments instead of frying it. Definitely seems possible if they build on this gag.
Kaminari is my favorite character and whenever he gets to shine I love it!
I think a way to make sure that he can use his quirk and make it strong though is to really focus on training and not slack off to like hanging out with girls and yeah

@@RisingSun0401 Well I love him bc first of all he has all the criteria I would want my bf to be plus he has that sense of humour which calms down any stressful atmosphere. He also has that happy go lucky personality and is full of +ve vibes. Not forgetting that he's so pure , honest and cares a lot for his friends

Kaminari is one of my favorite character because electric/lightning power is so awesome! I want to see more of him if he can control over his Quirk he would be so powerful like the other heroes! I want more character development on him.. His Quirk is so cool !!

If he learned to use his quirk internally he gain superspeed which could extend to his senses so he could absorb info at high-speed. It help with situation awareness and increase his ability to learn in a short amount of time in comparison to others
One possibility is he can generate electromagnetism as a byproduct of generating electricity. We see another electric type villain was capable of interfering with their communications which could be electromagnetic interference in the first season. If that is the case, then maybe Kaminari can do the same. And this opens up countless possibilities of his quirks versatility

@Otaku - Unfortunately, I think his "brain fry" is more with the quantity of electricity flowing throw his brain rather than releasing it from his brain. I'm fairly certain that an influx of electricity flowing either way would cause a "short circuit" in his brain. Kind of like a power breaker in a house.
Yeah, that's what I think too. It seems that whatever his process is for creating and emitting larger amounts causes internal short circuits, whether it's because of the emission or creation, meaning that if he just held the smaller amounts of electricity in and directed it to his brain he would probably short circuit regardless.
I think he should consider close quarters combat. He can use metal rods or swords and enhance them by electrifying them. Since he has problems directing his quirk, he should focus more on melee. He can direct it better that way.
He could almost flood his body with electricity and punching someone could shock them plus ya know amping his reflexes making a tsudo ultra instinct
I commented before, electricity is a very researched phenomenon. There's many ways to use electricity. Just for example he could use a sword that turns electricity into heat. Or use electromagnetic induction to craft powerful magnets.
That’d be a great way to awaken his quirk, manipulating electromagnetic fields. Doing that would essentially give him telekinesis and allow him to wipe computers and phones of their data.
Denki should gain something similar to Killua's godspeed. playing off of what you said about heightened Awareness/Reactions using the stored electricity, he could maybe release that throughout his body improving overall physical ability, and with the self defense mechanism he has to electrocute people he comes in contact with that would make him a devastatingly dangerous close combat fighter, quickened movement to close the distance and electrocution through contact, all it would take is one solid blow and your out. pair that with his high power mid/long ranged releasing of lightning and he's a high level threat in every field. I also saw a lot of comments about conductive weapons, and from that I think gauntlets would be real cool, gauntlets with the capability to shoot out the conductive cylinders so he can sharp shoot while adding heaviness to his blows and release electricity. another function of these gauntlets could be like Bakugous gauntlets, storing up electricity s that he wouldn't have to use his own quirk and fry his brain or so he can store that electricity inside him when in need of it, he could also have maybe 2 types of cylinders, one being the originals that make sharpshooting possible and another that release stored electricity, these would be shot at opponents with the intent to hit and incapacitate enemies without needing to worry about allies. also going back to the possible enhanced awareness ability, Denki could in theory use that to level up his aiming prowess making the as priorly mentioned Electric Cylinders much more dangerous as they'd be more difficult to dodge. but In the end this is all simple speculation based off of your idea.

Just found this channel this weekend. Nice. So, on this guy, what if he was able to learn to siphon electricity? Heck of a way to disable someone by negating their neutral pathways by absorbing the electrical impulses.
He should two night sticks like nightwing from dc but they emit electricity which wouldn’t affect him like a stun baton if he had cqb strength he would higher up in the class
I would go with simple attacks given the character and that he doesn't like to focus, simple orbs of electricity that he can throw and for an upgrade to that if he is closer range or the target is faster use a stream of lightning as a rope and attach it the orbs giving him basically a flail made if electricity
I'd love to see a quick evaluation on bakugo it can get pretty meta with the application of how him developing more like izuku can fundamentally alter his quirk into something completely different btw it's actually never said he can't make explosives anywhere else is assume he never thought of foot based explosion preoultion or explosive hairs as he's a very straight forward guy.

He should have a costume made with microcosmic metal pieces that hold the electricity close to his body and then control the voltage and train in keeping that up for a few hours to extend his capacity

He could use his electricity to mess whit the nervous system of his enemies or boost his. The body works whit electric pulsations and if he learns a hand-to-hand combat, he could push lightning into the muscles of the enemy he fights, not really needing any strenght but instead speed and technique
I always though the clunky gear would be better off replaced by a capture weapon like Aizawas.
I know it sounds odd but the cloth is made of metal fibers to be durable, metal conducts electricity as we all know. So he could use it for more precise attacks as well.
If he could master that cloth like Aizawa has he could honestly be lethal. And depending on how he wears it he could use it for additional mobility options imagine like the gear things they use in AOT.
This is a GREAT idea!
The discs can probably be a bit more tactical like set up traps or zoning off areas and they also double as a tracking device

What if he doesn't use all of his electricity?
It would be cool if he gets a suit upgrade that allows electricity to forcibly perform controlled external muscle compressions and steching. This would allow for faster reactions than the network in the body could provide and not fry his internal brain muscle network. I can't wait to see his next evolution.
During the development of supermoves Kaminari mentions creating lightning blades. Perhaps he could use a sort of lightning rod/antenna and charge that up. If he did so, he could have a literal stungun that would also help in avoiding massive discharges by only being powered at the point of impact or him reabsorbing his own attacks from said lightning rod
One thing that most people seem to forget about electricity is just how god damn deadly it is, so much so that it's quite literally a one-shot ability. The only way one can counter is, is by having their body made up out of nonconductive materials or have the electromagnetic pulses emitted by the brain be arguably more than the energy running through the cables in one's house, but even with both of those combined, safety is still not guaranteed. It's not that hard for an electricity user to (in the best case scenario) give someone a heart attack (if not cause the damn thing to explode), and quite literally burn their nervous system, all while they are unable to do anything about it because of two reasons: a) they are incapable of thought for obvious reasons, b) because they are paralyzed due to all the electrical energy flowing through their body, causing all of their muscles to tense; but tense to such a degree that I can't even describe. Additionally, if the user wanted to, they could send spontaneous waves of electrical energy at their opponent, effectively abusing the formerly mention application and stimulating one of the things that have made Tenatus so infamous only to a much... much larger degree. I'm of course referring to the killer move, where the user quite literally causes the victim's own muscles to break their bones. Yeah, not Bueno.

There are two parts to electricity, volts and amps. Also charges don't just disappear, he need learn how to emit an draw it back. Everything has protons and electrons, therefore have a charge. He need wire whips, armor, martial arts, mech suit.
one idea, I came up for kaminari is he could try mimicking his body into electricity literately becoming a human lightning bolt, cause he can cover his body in electricity, so why not mimic it

Class 1-A top 5 quirks are Kaminari, Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Tokoyomi. That’s why they were all separated in the joint training arc. If I was Kaminari I’d switch to close range fighting
So the nervous system uses chemical electrical signals to send messages to parts of the body which are much slower than actual electricity so if we were safely able to change are nervous system from using chemical electricity to actual electricity are reaction speed and perception would be way faster as nervous signals would be sent throughout the body at extreme speeds compared to what they actually are and considering electric eels have specialized cells that produce electrical shocks such a thing is not out of question for biology
He should be trained with weapons like a metal baton that could hold electricity that he could use to stun enemies and hit them with a shock
Maybe creating a faraday cage like helmet could help take some of the shock off his brain.

I wonder if he has ever considered having a separate pointer and shooter. Or even double pointers for that matter. One on each arm and then in the same vein to the full discharge, arc it out to multiple targets in a more concentrated way, going from one line to two
The boy needs a metal whip of some kind for mid range attacks and some electric rollerblades, to close distance. Also if he can produce enough light for a flashbang effect that'd be really cool
He should've had a gadget that's like metal needles or conduit needles that he can throw and will stick and stuck to people and sufaces. Maybe even small flat disc that can stick to surfaces. But I like the needles idea more because he can have smaller shooter and more ammo.

His Electrical powers and combat potential are overpower unless he is up against some people with insulation or absorption quirks. but quirk aside you can't help but love this guy am I right or what

What if Kaminari’s shooter tracked his energy usage and once he passed a certain threshold it would trigger an energy cell on his belt to recharge him so that he wouldn’t have to deal with his quirk’s side effects
He could maybe try to learn a way to attract and repel metal objects. He could also learn to store huge amounts of electricity and then explode it all like on a nuke level. He could also attach a water squirter to his other arm to make his attacks more powerful
If i where him id try to carry some bling on me as gold is a super conductor which means it could be used as a make shift mid range weapon to easily conduct his electricity whit not resistance from the material.

He can go brain dead or "short circuit" if he lets out too much electricity,or if he takes too much in. So if he were able to take it in at small amounts at a time and release it with less power then a million volts he would be fine. And also he needs to just bring it up to about 1000 bolts with some amps. Not too many just enough to stun someone. He always takes it too high.
A REALLY neat idea for a Kaminari power-up, MAGNETISM!
For those who don't know, a concentrated flow of electricity generates a magnetic field, and makes an incredibly strong one when it runs in a coil.
Knowing this, if Kaminari could just gain enough control over his electricity to make it coil around him (maybe with the help of a support item), the amount of volts he discharges could, even for a second, generate an immensely powerful magnetic field.
This could have a variety of uses, from disarming enemies, to perhaps picking up his own gear, as well as providing him with a way to shut DOWN other electronics, and perhaps (but this is a BIG maybe) metalbend? idk, sounds cool.

Honestly the side affects of overusing his quirk makes me think of my epilepsy. Epilepsy is a chronic disorder that essentially causes seizures at random (to varying degrees and varying frequencies depending on the type and how severe the condition is) due to excess electricity in his brain. Since his quirk works by storing and releasing electricity, it makes so much sense that he kinda becomes "dumb" for about an hour or so after overusing his quirk, that mirrors side effects of seizures like memory loss (mostly short term) and from experience, you lose the ability to execute normal brain functions during a seizure, like being able to talk or move or respond in any way (kinda like a computer glitching out). However, in my experience with those things happening during a seizure, a lot of times my brain is aware of the situation and trying to respond still (though if the seizure is severe eventually you'll be likely to lose consciousness). So it would be really cool if he could improve the usage of his quirk by minimizing those side effects but also getting used to it enough to where he could still function regardless.
Anyway I just have a small head cannon that Kaminari is an epileptic as his quirk is essentially epilepsy on steroids and I needed to share that somewhere lol

A couple of support items, would boost him massively, a jacket decorated with solar panels would keep him constantly topped up with electricity, If he learns to maintain the correct electrical input his brain needs he could avoid going stupid by absorbing or outputting too much electricity his goggles could be plugged in to monitor this, his radio is also incredibly useful, and man he could use his quirk to power all manner of other powerful support items like electrical whips to control his range better, hover boards to increase mobility
Or have the whips able to be fired like an actual taser would be awesome too
Give him a metal pole that he can supercharge and use as a big tazer staff
Gadget idea: the same wires used for ranged stun guns but used as trip wires, or built into that point and shoot gadget
Ultimate move idea: shoot those discs in specific areas and strike them in sequential order, one at a time
what about him extending his electrical field at a low level as a part of his body's nervous system allowing him to detect threats and respond quicker
I have a few ideas for his powers evolution.
First up, a technique ( keeping in line with his role as a gag character) called lightning charger, which allows him to absorb and recharge by touching or being in close proximity to electricity based objects.
The second technique would be called high voltage trick shot, where he uses his support item to aim his electricity at metal objects at different angles in order to hit targets off guard.
Finally, to make him more combative, this last technique, I call max voltage armor. It may or may not require a support item, but it will enable him to channel his quirk to isolated parts of his body, ( fists, elbows, knees, or legs) or his entire body at once, to add speed, damage and defense simultaneously.
He could have a charge suit which helps him direct energy on his body like have some mobility boots which he provided electricity can move fast with wheels and tazer gloves which use his electricity for electric punches and kicks
He should get some metal cables that could be maneuvered like Eraserhead's bondage scarf. It would let him direct electricity but be a bit more flexible then his current disk system.
Denki Kaminari is literally the perfect shonen hero. Big hair, big powers, big heart, small brain. If the show didn’t focus on Izuku and all might, kaminari would have been a great protagonist. But nooo throughout all four seasons he only has like half an hour of screen time 😭
I've got some ideas on how he could improve himself in the future and how he could become one of the top/most powerful heros in hand to hand combat.
he should try to do what deku has done and only focus his quirk in the areas that it is needed in for example his arms or fingers like deku did in the beginning of the anime
he needs to learn to send the electricity forward by use of his finger to point the direction for example and if his quirk isn't physically capable of doing so he needs to find an easier and more efficient way to direct it
he needs to use hand to hand combat in succession with focusing his quirk into one part of his body as i mentioned earlier using kicks and punches to both electrocute his opponent whilst simultaneously dealing damage with the punch and covering parts of his body in electricity if they are for example about to be hit by the enemy or kicked, this will act as a barrier between them as if they hit him they will still be damaged and they cant prevent him from attacking as the parts they are trying to attack are instantly being surrounded by thousands of volts of energy. The use of only covering the body parts that need the electricity prevents his allies being hurt as the electricity isn't being surrounded by his whole body and is just on the parts where needed. this essentially makes him basically untouchable whilst still dealing heavy damage to his opponents even when they hit him as i am sure being electrocuted by thousands of volts will hurt a lot more than a punch. and for a finishing move he could focus all of his electricity into his arms or legs and go for a final million or so volt attack; on impact the attack would have a more powerful outcome than just standing there touching someone and letting the electricity flow off ur whole body and this would also make it easier to fight around fellow heros as he wouldn't have to worry about harming anyone else as long as they aren't obviously right next to him ofc.
denki has an amazing quirk with infinite amounts of potential, he just needs to be more creative with his quirk and over come his weaknesses for example only being able to cover his whole body in electricity, deku found a way to focus his quirk into one body part so surely denki can do the same and be able to do so quick enough to use it to prevent opponents from attacking his body by only covering certain body parts to prevent harm of anyone else as well as not being able to discharge it easily, it just takes practice to learn to control his power it isn't a bad quirk at all it just needs development.
