@@RidgeChaser Just going off the presentation here. You're presenting the Fuel Cell as commuter pace when it's going x2 the limit with a very brisk pace. Commuter car yes, not commuter pace. Commuter pace is going the limit or just a hair over. Both examples in this video were far from such and thus a bad example entirely to begin with. While you specifically have not defined you need to go 10/10ths. I've seen this plenty elsewhere. Whether it was your intention or not, you're feeding into this disillusion, and the community as a whole would be better off without it. (Not your video specifically, the gatekeeping). As this is the very gatekeeping that has lead to serious crashes because people give in to the pressure of those and push far above what should be OK because they have to. It also leads to some serious hot heads in local scenes. Maybe it's because I'm a jaded millennial with 20 years behind the wheel, maybe it's because I use to be a cocky little shit who also gatekept this very thing until I almost punched my ticket and a friend's ticket. Maybe it's because I've lost close friends to this very issue. Point is, who the hell cares what pace someone goes when pushing it. As long as they're not reckless, all that matters is having fun.
Not to be rude, but I feel like you're misinterpreting the video a bit. Ridge Chaser has always been a sort of counter culture channel about what real underground touge racing looks like. Yes, both videos are at blistering speeds for the road and yes, the creator is comparing his commuter vehicle run to a commuter pace to demonstrate that he wasn't going fast. Comparable to locals with proper set ups, he's crawling in some instances even at double the speed limit. Ridge Chaser never condones driving the way he does in his videos, thus the disclaimer, however, this is his way of showing, what is shown online about touge is not entirely accurate to what it's really like to race in real life. Twice the speed limit is impressive in your 50k+ build, however, touge isn't this glamorous sunny day of motor sport, but a bunch of broke kids competing in the underground with something that has an optional 4 wheels and still going blistering speeds in those death traps. Ridge Chaser isn't gate keeping speed, trust me, plenty of these influencers flex how fast their Ferrari valued setups would eat some other segment of the car community apart or just flex their general skill. Ridge Chaser is simply showing a proper interpretation of the culture. I understand the concern, and it does seem like he's gatekeeping people from having fun, but he's not. This video, if anything, is humorous in nature, watching a guy in a Honda Clarity mostly match the pace of better built cars. Sort of an Initial D gag if you will. I've lost a car to reckless driving before on the pass, and I've learned to better measure my skill since. Drive safe, share the pass, and enjoy yourself. And ignore the influencers, they encourage us enthusiasts in one breathe and puff their chests the next.
I have mixed emotions. One hand I enjoy content around touge cause it’s what I enjoy. And on the other hand. It’s so much more then “driving fast” and that’s what I think some people don’t get. Like do I have course knowledge. Am I leading. Am I following. How well do I know this driver I’m driving with. How well do I know my own set up I’m driving. Idk man. I vote for whatever doesnt get people hurt. And never drive past your personal limit no matter who the situation is. We’re in real life not initial d , no matter how much I wish we where 😂 idk man I guess I’d also like to point out my sadness in some of the comment sections of touge content. Like too many emperors wanna bes and not enough human beings. Idk love your vid
Before someone goes and tries to defend this group of drivers, this shit is illegal regardless so it’s not about breaking laws but more of that the safety of incident bystanders should be at risk. All these videos just show that it’s cool to do daytime runs when there’s traffic instead of waiting until traffic is gone. Literally most accidents involving passing traffic is in the daytime. I’m down for a fast run but I’m going to make sure that if I fuck up, I’m the only one involved.
I try to imagine what my suspension n tires are actually doing when im driving spirited however i am no pro and should practice at a track because rn i cross that mustered and what i want is to be able to be faster without that and that means fine tuning my cars to that
Understanding Thrust angle and having your suspension set up with that in mind go hand and hand. One thing id say I really got out of that steering and suspension class while I went to school for automotive
It’s a myriad of editing angles for these “influencers” to exaggerate speed. And it also depends on the course, a lot of these “fast touges” don’t have the aggressive corners or tight sweeps like the “commuter ones”. I used to run in a valley, and that was TIGHT where the most you’d get is 110 km/h on a straight if you had a spec tuned machine and two years of experience.
Where have you been Ridge Chaser?! Been waiting all summer for you to upload since the last upload and now my school starts in 2 days 😢 Great content though, keep it up!
Great video! , I wanna see @RevLox and Seikers ( Comparison Video Channel ) do a battle , will we see more videos with RevLox as well , I saw his crash the other week too
Given how they were fighting their cars (and one of them almost wiped out) I would't call that a commuter pace. Certainly not for them specifically. Granted, I wouldn't call your run a commuter pace either, but still.
Lets just hope those influencers dont crash and injure somebody while trying to prove themselfs on the internet, and that this trend will just fade away. And if i can ask, did you ever thought of making a video of you analysing your follower's touge tracks and/or runs?
I will skip track stuff as there are many qualified people who will do a better analysis. For touge runs, DM me at @ridgechaser on Instagram and I will put it in the library for that series!
I don't think you have to be a competitive-level driver to be doing touge. I know I couldn't escape the Mighty Stock Fit, but I do what I can and try to improve. After Rev Lox's crash, I'm very happy to be off the California 100tw scene pace.
It's clear seeing them going through the comers that they aren't pushing it. Obviously they will say it's a "touge battle" to look cool. Honestly I don't think anyone outside of japan should use the word given it's just the Japanese word for Pass? Shouldn't we all be calling it Mountain pass battles? Fact is we're using another language to try and be cool - and that's what these videos are about as well. They make out like it's a full on battle, because a full on battle is cool. The only issue is, one day, someone with little experience will go full out, and they'll die.
As much as I would prefer to use a word other than "touge" since it's from a different culture, it is a term that people know internationally. So it's easiest to list videos using this terminology for people to find. I personally don't use the term when talking to people in-person. Good Point! 👍
@RidgeChaser I don't think there's any issue with using stuff from other cultures at all, but in this case saying Touge doesn't really add much value. It'd be like calling our cars kuruma. You do make a good point tho. People who don't speak english would probably be more likely to understand what touge is over cliff road, or mountain pass - and likewise, a non English speaker can say touge and we'll know what they mean.
Have you tried *perspective tricks* on your own driving? E.g. extreme wide angle, low camera height, cranked film...? Since you actually drive fast, I think the result would look truly absurd, and provide another amusing comparison against typical drivers.
Just take your Aim Solo 2 and put it into open circuit and establish the start and finish lines when you’re doing your sighting run. That’s what we do since we are older with family and it’s harder for us to all do a run together as a group like back in our highschool days… but during BBQs and football days we’ll go show our recent runs and see who’s improving their times the most. Take everyone’s files and stack it into race studio and see.
This is just influencers going the extra mile to get more views and followers, you can see some of the footage is clearly sped up. I'll say this... it's gonna end badly, and it's going to end in a huge crackdown on touge because of the idiots wanting to have their 5 minutes of fame on the internet.
@@RidgeChaser like take run that’s not editing from tsuchi or seikers or someone and go to the same place and drive it and see if the time it takes to get to the same postion to see what’s the difference
I won't call it a touge but over here we have a road section of 17 turns with a 2km straight in between the two halfs of those corner sets. As a local that drives there ever since I got my license I have to say influencers, even the small ones, ruined it. Gatekeeping isn't something that I approve of and I'm even against it, but they brought all kinds of disrespectful, social media addicted people. I would understand if they were from other places like the distant clubs that we know of that we are used to seeing over here and we have a good relationship with, one that stands on respect and understanding. Menawhile I couldn't get a single weekend without guys in new-ish M3s, S4s etc bragging and constantly trying to pick a fight. The reputation with the local police is worsening as well cuz they crash and are dangerous outside of that place all the time, not even mentioning the locals getting angry cuz of the litter left in the car park. Back when we yet haven't agreed on not racing them, I was amazed how I could keep up with all those "sport-cars" in my 125hp base line Golf with a GT>I suspensions swap and grippier daily like tires. No performance mods apart from a better radiator and a garage tune. Not to add that I'm the 2nd from the end slowest local since I have only my daily. Yet they accuse people and try to create nonexistent beef with others. Acting like they are living some kind of a initial-d life lmao. I'm not saying all the people that come are bad, they are plenty new superb and normal dudes and girls that went even as far as to join some of groups that we have here. That's a big plus, but a good amount of ego deprived rich kids come and destroy the chill and fun way of spending the weekend for everybody. It's not like anyone can tell them not to come but I hope the locals and police will be chill with us for atleast 1 more year.

I think you should touge a m235i f22 its cheap fast and good handling
May we thank god he posted
I try to imagine what my suspension n tires are actually doing when im driving spirited however i am no pro and should practice at a track because rn i cross that mustered and what i want is to be able to be faster without that and that means fine tuning my cars to that
Understanding Thrust angle and having your suspension set up with that in mind go hand and hand. One thing id say I really got out of that steering and suspension class while I went to school for automotive
BABE RIDGECHASER UPLOADED
are you still on oahu? where is this
It’s a myriad of editing angles for these “influencers” to exaggerate speed.
Been waiting all summer for you to upload since the last upload and now my school starts in 2 days 😢
Great content though, keep it up!
Thank you! I know I've been missing a bit .. just life stuff. I'll be able to go back on schedule now!
Great video! , I wanna see @RevLox and Seikers ( Comparison Video Channel ) do a battle , will we see more videos with RevLox as well , I saw his crash the other week too
Thanks! If you want to see a collab between creators, definitely let both of them know.
did you get arrested? you havent posted for a while
bros going 100 mph or kmh in the corners?
mph
Great vid btw 10/10
I've messed with the FOV in editing and it definitely makes it feel faster, but it's just way to Goofy looking for my preference
Right, it's a great system when everyone is onboard!
influencers have skill issue
This is just influencers going the extra mile to get more views and followers, you can see some of the footage is clearly sped up. I'll say this... it's gonna end badly, and it's going to end in a huge crackdown on touge because of the idiots wanting to have their 5 minutes of fame on the internet.
side by side please
What do you mean by that? Like the video position?
@@RidgeChaser like take run that’s not editing from tsuchi or seikers or someone and go to the same place and drive it and see if the time it takes to get to the same postion to see what’s the difference
I see. If you have a particular video in mind, let me know what to search and I'll do that one next 👍
@@RidgeChaser Rx7 fd vs nc miata Touge battle by tsuchi, idk it has 1.7 million views so I thought it’s definitely influencer worth
Okay, looks like this is a good one. I'll start working on this, thank you for the suggestion 💯🙏
Looks like a common trend in a few areas. Is it still an issue at late night though?
@@RidgeChaser Especially at late nights on Sundays after the bigger meets.
But we are all thinking adults over here. Better to leave than to be part of trouble. I love your videos and work you put up on yt. It shows the reality, in the positive way, no sugar coating. And I love seeing how it looks over there across the pond. Not many creators that show it for obvious reasons.
HONESTLY THOUGH, people like tsuchi especially do this kinda content and it makes me go, “eh?” When they tag the word touge to their content and then barely go 5-10 above the speed limit.
Now take a actual fast car and do the run again
I'd like to get an Integra out there. Stay tuned...
@RidgeChaser we can try and set up a run between me and seikers, I'll run him as my car sits 😂
So this is a question for everyone in the comments, say someone were to start doing touge (safely of course) because they started watching these videos, would you or would you not approve of it?
the fact one of the audios were from a gay cousin
That is an interesting fact...
@@RidgeChaser yeah intresting
