I love this helicopter. It's by far my favorite out of my collection which is S1, S2, & Trex 450L, 470L. The reason is I fly it in my yard and literally fly it daily. It's highly addictive. It has made me a much better pilot because it's far superior than a simulator. Now I'm not saying don't use a sim. I'm just saying once you learn the basics in a sim then step up to this next, this is the way to go. Parts are cheap and available and the unit is tough. The most common parts you'll need to change are the blade grips, boom, anti rotation guide, assuming you crash of course. Also you should have spare main shaft and feathering shafts although I find those normally handle a crash but one of the two blade grips will get damaged causing vibrations. In any case 200 is well spent money for this imo and you can find them cheaper when on sale.
Great review 👍 I'm waiting for mine to arrive from China so have watched nearly all of them on UA-cam and I find this one the most informative, nice job
Nice review, thank you. I always wanted to FPV one of these little Helis. Do you think it'd be possible to convert this to Aruducopter, using something like the H743-MINI. HDZero has their tiny 20x20 VTX setup. You could probably fit it all on with some clever arranging.
Hello there I would like to know what type of adapter came with that bind and fly Goosky? That connector is for use with your personal charger? Please respond? This is the only thing I'm stuck on to purchase this helicopter. I going to purchase the RTF version.
I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass. What you have in your hand is a XT60 or Xt30 adaptor and those other wires with the white ends? What're these wires called? What is that whole adaptor called? Long story short. The proper name of that adaptor?
It isn't called anything. It is a very specilised cable adapter they've made that allows you to plug a battery that only has a balance tap into a charger that needs both a balance tap and a XT60 connection to work - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ebuu6ngznyq9e5dwy0d53/cable.jpg?rlkey=4qrz3b5w1dklt921s3y1fyhng&dl=0.. I can't understand why they are stuck with that one way Futaba protocol for the radio that does not allow telemetry. Even my Nano S3 came with telemetry and it is way smaller than the Goosky S1. This could be a deal breaker to me.
@@Painless360 But if that is the case the OMP protocol allows telemetry. I do not understand why Goosky insist on using the one way Futaba Protocol without telemetry.
i have multiple helicopters and bought an s1 because of its small size and dfc setup, my only complaint about it is the flight controller. even with a spektrum satellite that sends telemetry the flight controller just doesn’t send any, it’s a very stereo typical chinese protoboard setup, they didn’t pretend to make a case for it just shoved a few pcb together and called it a day, alternatively the servos are using non traditional connectors so you’d have to either change ends on servos once you need to replace, or forced to buy goosky servos. i do think it is a cool helicopter but its like my fifth or sixth collect pitch heli, but realistically i should probably spend the extra money on a more modern flight controller, like what’s in the blade 230s (think it has the same non traditional servo plugs also) because the manual for goosky is pretty bad for english, there’s an app but the definitions are awful, and the specific gyro settings i’m looking to change aren’t available, i’ve seen many others just rip these goosky s1 s2 around but in my experience with goosky, it’s just not stable, it bounces up and down without moving any sticks, unsure if flight controller can be calibrated? unsure, also if you put a satellite in or bluetooth module you probably won’t be able to close case properly also
@@IRBry For you for the honest reply. I think a lot of youtubers are giving almost perfect reviews because they are either getting the helis for free or they are sponsored but what you described here is the reason I am not buying the S1. I think the OMP M1 is better (because of the telemetry with the OMP protocol) but I dislike the fact that I need to remove the canopy to install or remove the battery.
I'm deciding between this and the S2 or the similar offerings from OMP hobby. I feel OMP have the edge, just but I prefer the looks of the Goosky. More deliberation is needed but thanks for the clear video. It was helpful.
It works, see my videos on it. Having done it a few times, I can say that the vibration on a heli is a big issue. You need to soft mount the camera and using higher resolution cameras will show the problem more.. best of luck!
i hope the i phone works better. I bought one (its on the way as i wright this) because it seems based on the product flight demo you get a lot of performance for just $200. I have 3 s.a.b. goblins of different sizes a mongoose Gasser, a agile 5.5, a blade 180 and a Alees Rush 750 and all of them cost a lot more then $200. I wonder if its as good as advertised? I have always bin a skeptic of fixed pitch tail rotors.
Hi Lee, Great video and review of the GOOSKY S1. I like it, especially the price for what you get. Thanks again for the video and information about this Heli.
Can I ask you if I can use spare part from omp m1 evo like servos and main blades for this heli ? You know, I can buy parts from my home country only for m1 evo because our local stores have them on stosck but nothing for any goosky helis.
Can you do everything you can do in the App with button (and/or RC remote) input? Cause if you can't, it having an app is such a huge downside.I have a (by now rather old) Align T-Rex 150. It has an app. You can't configure it at all without it. Then Android changed something and the little helicopter wouldn't connect (or the app couldn't see it? don't quite remember), and the app wasn't updated for I think over a year. I needed to change something cause of a broken radio or something (don't remeber what exactly) and it was basically a paperweight. At least it WAS updated eventually, but I'm skeptical if it would still be updated if another change like that comes. And Align is (or was) a rather big and reputable name in the model helicopter space.

I have no complaints ,I grew up with Futaba's . I Fly Micros & to me, its the best one out there .
helped me decide on this chopper, it flat out rocks. flew in 20 mile an hour winds, I was just juggling it but it was extremely fun.

Looks like a fun little heli. I've been curious about messing around with single rotors for better than a year now.
Thanks for the review, you answered several questions that I had about this helicopter.
S1 The best micro in it class
Love mine, they need to put out an S3 now. 💪🏽💪🏽😁😁
Pretty nice looking helicopter, Lee! 😃
Fantastic flying and review!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

There is very little space in a model like this... Maybe something a little larger would help... Happy flying
i'd love to see you converting such a tiny heli to ardupilot 😍
More likely to be rotor flight.... Happy flying
Hi, can i use the Jeti RC ?
Just as a point of interest the Trex 130X and DFC had app connectivity that allowed setup and modification via your mobile device.
align t15 now it’s called
@@IRBry I wasn't aware they'd rebranded it. I hope there's some value left in the 130X as I'm looking to sell mine as it doesn't get used now.

Beautiful helicopter! Does helicopter like this fly in acro mode as the fpv quad does?
Sort of.. Flybarless units are not closely related to Betaflight commonly... Yet. Stay tuned!

Yeah all of the old protocols are terrible...

Lee since you have done a few reviews of helicopters can you perhaps do a video on the Betaflight fork Rotor Flight?
