This was the last time I saw The Afghan Whigs. They were awesome that day. Saw them at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford and was so impressed a friend and I decieded to follow them around the rest of the UK. We hitch-hiked around all over. After the second show they recognized us and put us on the guest list for the rest of the tour. We got to hang out with them before and after each show. Such nice guys, really down to earth. I learnt how to drink as well. I ended up following them on the second UK tour as well. Bumped into them at this festival and they took me and my then girlfriend backstage. Love these guys.
WOW!! This is hands-down the best live version of this song I've seen yet.. Which; by chance, happens to be my favorite Whigs song. I still love it today as much as I did twenty years ago. This song is pure musical genius. Duli sounds better here than on the original recording. Thx Bomber!!
I saw them twice on the Gentleman tour - in Raleigh and then in Chapel Hill (both NC). Amazing band. I was lucky enough to see them on the Black Love and 66 tours also. Hands down the best fucking band of the 90's.
I was lucky enough to be at Reading 94. Incredible line up on the Sunday - Helmet, Jesus Lizard, Afghan Whigs, Rollins Band - (Soundgarden pulled out) so then it was Therapy? and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Amazing weekend
In 93 I was in a band and we played with a lot of other local bands. Some of them went at it a bit too hard with alcohol and hard drugs. This song was our anthem. It made you happy to be alive and it made you fear for your friends' life.
