Sorry not sorry but this is the absolute best version of Riverdance! It brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. These people were absolutely stunning! No one and I mean no one will ever come close to matching what they accomplished! Forever in my heart.
My grandma and I ALWAYS used to watch this when I was younger. I would visit her every other weekend, and each time I would ask if we could watch Riverdance. She passed away last year, and I'm so happy I found the full movie on here. Love You Grandma 💙
What a beautiful anecdote, although I'm very sorry for your loss. Now it's up to you to perpetuate that tradition with those who come later, it'll be a beautiful way to keep her alive in the heart of the whole family :)
Im Japanese and watched this in US when I was 3yo and I started dance so my mom took me to ballet studio... and now somehow I’m a professional ballerina in Switzerland .... life is weird but cannot thank enough to these ppl who invite me to world of dance
I was lucky enough to be a leading member of this dance company on this memorable evening. We seemed to float and glide through the air on invisible wires we couldn't sense, as we lept effortlessly in unison, and our perfectly together tapping feet, heavenly voices, and hauntingly beautiful music tingled through our hearts in time with the love we shared for everyone around us. WONDERFUL! Oh yes...and then I woke up.
Great show ever. Everyone, the musicians, the singers, the dancers, the production, Miss Butler, Mr Flatley the best of all. Awesome, it was wonderful to watch. I could go on and on.
@@celtic611 Hello my friend, oh @ The Point Theatre in Dublin. I've been many times & a great location. That, was indeed a great show, as they all were really. I was lucky enough, to see the show again, whilst travelling around Australia. I saw Riverdance, live, @ Rod Laver Arena & gosh, it was simply brilliant!! Australia's show, was insanely awesome & carried a truly fun & electric atmosphere! Great memories, of a great show, within a great country. I so love my home....Ireland, but i so long to revisit the land of OZ, "Down Under". Take care & Peace
I remember being a kid and owning the VHS of this exact performance, and I would watch it over and over again every chance I could. Even today, I still get chills when I watch it.
I played that vhs for my roommate’s daughter almost ever night when she would not sleep as an infant. After the first few months, just putting it on made her sleepy. My very Italian roommate was not thrilled that the only thing that would put his daughter to sleep was Irish dancing. Or that her favorite show to watch as a toddler was “the princesses” aka Celtic Women. 😂
I had the phenomenal good luck to see 'Riverdance' at the Point Theater, Dublin, Ireland on 23 February, 1995. It was sold out but my friend had emergency appendectomy surgery so I used her ticket. I have never seen anything like it before or since. The audience was stunned and so loud in their applause you could not hear. It was a real treat. Jean Butler has the most beautiful legs I have ever seen, they are perfectly shaped.
Ahhh me too! I am Irish born/bred & i saw the show again, in Australia's magnificent Rod Laver Arena, back in the mid 90's too. It was truly majestic & spectacular. The best show i have ever seen. I carry those wonderful memories within my mind/heart, still. I love my homeland Ireland & her beautiful culture.
RamonYo2 In absolute awe over the accuracy of their timing... such discipline and MANY MANY hours of practice.... The lead dancer with Flatley is soooo beautiful....her legs just go on for ever.... The idea of dancing like this with your arms down by your sides makes me even more impressed as not using your arms makes the dancing that much harder..... I love coming back to this every now and then....so uplifting... Watching further...58:11 on is what I mean about timing...I can't express my feelings when I see this....anyone out of step will show up like the proverbial sore thumb....everyone nails it.... Worth ever penny for the seat........
@@michaelhawthorne8696 Jean Butler stole the show. She dances and floats almost as if she doesn't want to touch the floor. Her dancing is less about the flash of Flatley and more about artistic expression and story telling.
The uilleann pipes are something incredible. What a superbly haunting & breathtaking sound. The way it's played in this show, is truly brilliant!! He's the uilleann pipe master!
Davy Spillane. Caoineadh Cu Chulainn. Unfortunately you’re not gonna find his version on Spotify because the only Riverdance music that is on there is the 25th anniversary album.
Here's the link. ua-cam.com/video/Gnli_cr2tI8/v-deo.html There's another one too but it has a bit of echo. The sound is beautiful. I think he played that instrument in the countess cathleen song when the women didn't have tap dancing shoes on but flats. It's my fav song. Amazing

My granddaughter and I used to watch this all the time. Then we saw Lord of the Dance and was blown away. Still watching in 2020. Proud of my Irish ☘️ heritage.
My family has been here in the US for several generations, but i’m still proud of my heritage!! My parents and i went to Ireland 1990??(can’t ask them, both have now passed away). We would have tried to look up distant cousins, but Fitzgerald is like Smith!!😎
Everyone seems so entranced by the performers on the stage, especially the two principal dancers, but no-one seems to acknowledge the skill of the musicians. Without them the dancers would be nothing. Brilliant work from ALL.
So, so true, although in their own right, the dancers are very talented & gifted in their specialised skills. This, cannot be underrated or taken for granted.
I saw this production in 1997 in Brisbane, Australia & can remember my eyes darting to and from the musicians & dancers. I have the CD in my car & still love listening to it. The Principle dancers were Colin Dunn & Jean Butler (not Michael Flately). The song I love most is "Lift the Wings" (my Husband knows it's my funeral song!).
@Lee Toone For some reason, SOMEone just couldn’t allow there to be such a spectacular production that celebrates Irish culture only. Really makes you wonder…
I tried watching the new one, and it wasn't a BAD production, per se, they just tried too HARD. Like, in this original, you can see that the dancers are giving it their all, but they're not trying to overdo it. And Michael, Jean, the Trio, everyone dances their asses off, and the movements are so much more fluid. You know, like DANCING xD. The dancers, bless their hearts, looked so stiff and lifeless in the newer version. Like they were being FORCED to dance, and not doing it because they wanted to. Which is why I will forever hold the 1995 version very dear to my heart. Absolute masterpiece.
Note that Riverdance premiered before this, as an interval act at Eurovision 1994. You should watch the video of that, the reaction is incredible because nobody knew it was coming. They immediately decided to make it a whole show after that, but you should check out the Eurovision performance just for the audience reaction.
I just love Riverdance !!!!!! Hey you all! I have tickets to see them, for the first time, live in Dublin this next August!!!!!! And I'm coming all the way from Santiago, Chile !!!!!! Am I lucky or what !!!!!
They never stopped - they still tour every year - totally different dancers and cast in general, but still touring... Michael Flatley retired with tons of injuries - this is a tough dance...
One thing I appreciate about Michael Flatley versus Colin Dunne is that Flatley looks like he is always having so much fun on the stage. Something just glows about his personality as though to say that maybe this show won't last forever but by all means, it will be memorable. Dunne is a professional, and it looks like he seeks to give audience members exactly what they pay for which is perfection, but while Dunne is on the stage he looks so professional that his sheer talent pales his personality creating a sterile experience. I love Dunne's talent and how well he was able to take up Flatley's mantle when he left the show but boy did Flatley have personality and did he make it fun.
Agreed. To me this is THE definitive version of Riverdance, Flatley's ego aside. I just wish we could get a remastered version of this on blueray. I understand due to the contractual/rights fights between Flatley and Wheelan/Riverdance it will not likely happen. Oh well I still have my OG VHS.
@@aresef Did him in? The guy went on to create a juggernaut in Lord of the Dance. Say what you want about the artistic side of it but it's his ego that elevated him to greater success than anyone could imagine.

Absolutely. All true art is pure magic, but none more refined than that which takes all of one's mind, heart, body and soul like this. If it doesn't evoke emotion in the viewer, they have no soul, and thus, no business in that audience.
Its May 2022. Where have the years gone. This wonder wonder wonderful music and culture takes me back to a young family who sat spellbound by it all. Two of them have kids of their own. To all the Riverdance crew thank you you have given the world a treasure.
It really doesn't matter how long ago it was when I saw this performance live, it remains as a near perfect example of the art, craft and truly brilliant talent displayed here not only in step-dance but in Irish music as well! The best ever. Bravo!
So true! Time will never, ever take away, the sheer brilliance & magic of Riverdance. I was there & all i can say is, The best show ever!!! 24 years later & i still love it!
Michael Flatley flies! His feet are off the ground more than they are on it. Wow. I loved that they put a red-headed lass in the lead. I wonder how all their knees / ankles / feet are doing some 23 years later.
Not only did they put a red headed lass in the lead, they put the best female Irish dancer of all time in the lead. The chemistry between Michael Flatley and Jean Butler was absolutely electric. This original live version of the show hit every single mark, from cast, choreography, music, stage design, acoustics, everything. A show like this (the original live version) comes around maybe once in a lifetime if you are lucky.
I was lucky enough to see them in person....what an experience! Have the DVD and watch it periodically. I saw an interview with Michael Flatly and he said during rehearsals and shows he would go through a couple of pairs of shoes a week and had to eat up around 5,000 calories a day to keep from losing weight!
I'm watching this after about 10 years of not having seen it and I couldn't help thinking that it's really a shame that such good dancers eventually have to quit because their legs are simply worn out. I never thought about it until I watched an interview Flahtley did in which he stated he probably would last no more than 10 years. Quitting because you want to do something else is one thing, quitting because you can't do what you love any longer is quite another. It's fortunate that we live in an age where these performances can be recorded and passed on to others.
Chris Baker No way am I equating myself, but as a former ballroom and club dancer, intermediate level, I can relate to Flatley’s statement. At age 69, I can walk, but that’s about it. Degenerate disease in my right hip. “All things must pass.” - George Harrison.
Am an acrobat and was going to try out for USOC to go to Tokyo in 1964. My father passed from a heart attack and was no longer concerned with going to Tokyo. I have arthritis in my spine and have to take morphine twice a day. But I know that all of our gymnasts and dancers will all have to quit because our bodies wear out.
Absolute masterpiece! The so-called geniuses who let go of Michael Flatley and separated him from the incomparable Bill Whelan did the world a huge disservice. Had they kept him and composer Whelan together by allowing them creative license, the owners would have gotten even richer and the world would have been truly inspired. As it turned out, Flatley left, created his own shows, and demonstrated to the world what a master choreographer he was - and is. We are still left with a blessing, however... a single show that demonstrates to all generations the power of unleashed creativity.
This is only version I will watch, this was truly Michael Flatley first stage of brilliance, I have all the shows he has produced, He is Lord of the Dance, he is Riverdance.

Great memories & takes me right back to the actual live show. I loved it & went to see it twice! haha I love you IRELAND & i'm proud to have Irish roots.
This PIECE OF ART still gives me the same chills that had given me back in 1995, when a 9-year-old me saw it for the first time... I was AMAZED, and still am. Marvellous.
Helen Carmody Sure. He broke his own record. The original was 28 taps per second, held by him, then he turned around a few years later and smashed it. I believe he still choreographs, but his knees are pretty messed up now. I think he's more interested in passing his legacy down to his son. He and his wife and son have a lovely estate in Ireland.
Mark Andrew yes, he is quite good as the Dark Lord. I dunno if he ever wanted the lead, though. He and Michael were good friends. Now, Michael's son.....He might end up being faster than the old man! He's following in Dad's footsteps. Goodness! He's probably a young teenager, by now.
Riverdance this is the first time I'm seeing this presentation and not my last! The opening dance was majestic The accompanying female dancers to the principal male dancer reflects the power of gender identity! I listened closely to the next song by a female and was amazed by her wonderful alto voice truly reflecting the mystery of Woman! Well done RIVERDANCE
I'm an italian girl who fell in love with Ireland and it's amazing culture after I had an experience with my group in Dublin...it was the last day of the first week, and the teacher asked us students if we wanted to go to the city centre to watch a Riverdance performance...we agreed and we went to see the show at the theatre....I WAS AMAZED. For some reason I love the Beijing one as well. I think it's just fun to see the audience take in something so foreign but mesmerizing. Or it could be the little girl who got up and was trying to dance like them at her seat. So cute!
I can't dance and though cancer treatments to my throat robbed me of my hearing for 2 years . Some has come back and with excellent headphones I can get lost in this wonderful show of human talant bar none! I never tire of it.
Everyone can dance, friend, even if only in their souls. I have no doubt you put Mr. Flatley to shame for the survivor's spirit you have. You are an inspiration to us all. You just keep on dancing and be well, Allen. Meanwhile the rest of us will try in our own ways to keep up!
I’m sure many other people that used to watch this as a kid are adults now but I’m still only sixteen, stressing about becoming an adult. I used to watch this movie on VHS with my great grandparents. I watched it every single weekend with them for forever and then I lost it, I haven’t been able to find it for forever but I told my dad about it and sure enough he found it, I’m so happy cause I have so many nostalgic memories that are just out of reach in my mind I can’t clearly remember them, so I’m hoping this brings back so sweet memories I forgot. After 2020 and the pandemic, 2021 with a bunch of traumatic personal events that happened back to back with no time to breathe in between, and 2022 with the threat of WW3 basically, this has provided a moment of calm for me. And I hope it does that for other people too. 💜

Well.done!
I'm enjoying this grand production here in 2020! I have to re-visit this wonderful masterpiece now and again to refill my soul with the joy that this and only this brings.... :)
@@TheSDLaudI remember hearing that at the time. Though one cannot have any reason to deny his talent. A big ego can often occur with beautiful and talented people, if they don't have anyone to keep them grounded. It doesn't make him any the less watchable here.
I am a 65 year old born and bred American. I got emotional the first time I saw this back in like '94 or '95. I had to have the VHS tape of the recording made of the show done in Dublin. Maybe it was the during the very first run of the show. I watched it many times. I still get emotional listening to it. I cried when I saw and heard Davey Spillane play Caoineadh cu Chulainn. It felt to me as if he's dropped down from Heaven and hid his wings while he played. And OH, that Jean Butler! I had the same reaction I saw my first video of Celtic Woman. The only way I can explain it is Ireland calls to me. It does so thru the very powerful music even though I only have 3% to 4% Irish DNA.

How can there be any non-likers? What did you guys expect? Full HD from 1995's TV ? If you ask me, this is totally mind-blowing, even better than the show's 2010's version!
Dude, I have dreams about Jean Butler. She's GORGEOUS. This got it started for me. I love and respect their awesome talent. The show still gives me chills
Michael personifies performance excellence. His athleticism while delivering a perfect smile is extraordinary. Quit possibly the best stage performer ever. In my opinion.
I am! Here it is July 2,2018! I've been watching all these UA-cam renditions today. I'm so glad so many have surfaced for our listening and watching. I can't get enough of listening and watching Michael Flatley, anything he does or arranges. His dancing is brilliant, simply brilliant. His dancing and musical arrangements he orchestrates are breathtaking. May our Lord heal all his physical medical issues. Information on him and his incredible career is available by Googling his name. In May 2015, Flatley revealed that much of his vertebral column was irreparably damaged and that he had a damaged left knee, a torn right calf/triceps surae muscle, two ruptured Achilles tendons, a fractured rib, and a recurring broken bone in his foot. In November 2015, Flatley's show Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games premiered at the Lyric Theatre, a Broadway theater. Due to his injuries, Flatley was only able to perform in the final two numbers of the performance. After shows in New York, Flatley went on a final tour in the United States. Flatley's last show was in Las Vegas on St. Patrick's Day 2016. Trump inauguration In January 2017, Flatley introduced his troupe for a performance at the inauguration of Donald Trump. While the decision was controversial, Flatley called it "a great honour".
My nana and I used to watch this when i was a kid. My mom still has the VHS tape. We love Riverdance and Nana just loved Michael Flatley.........Such great memories watching this.....55:00 has such a 90's feel to the music and lights. lol
What a sweet memory, fellow mommy of 2 brats, lol. this brings back such profoundly important memories of an incredibly emotional time in my life, many changes, growing up into an adult at this time...my grandma had just passed when this music became a phenomenon. It was and remains so inspirational, so uplifting. If this music doesn't get you moving, there is quite literally something wrong. Like, a physical ailment, with which I am too familiar. But even if one's legs can't move, this music moves the mind to an extent you can feel it. Thank you for sharing your memory.
That moment when Flatley came out on stage gave me goosebumps then and still does in 2019. i also saw him live with Lord of the Dance and although his jumps were not as high or dynamic at that performance because he was not well, it was still fantastic. But for me it is the music every time! Magical.
I remember seeing Riverdance live when I was a little girl, maybe 7. I remember wondering what the story was, as cool as it all was. Now as an adult, I’m still wondering, but think that maybe it doesn’t need a plot after all. Maybe it’s just beautiful, and that’s enough ❤️
This never gets old....timeless. The great Jean Butler and Michael Flatley burning up the stage. Their passion for dance courses through the audience. The supporting dancers, singers and musicians, especially at 17:30 is just stunning. And Maria Paiges and her indescribable flamenco....this show is absolute perfection.

@@kfclassen1 amen that Lament on the pipes really gets to me his performance of it is definitive. Other musicians don't render those sobbing heart wrenching banshee wailing notes that are so pure and sublime.

Saw it in 1996 in Chicago and, yes, the same. It all came together to bring a wild sort of joy welling up, and as I recall, most of the audience, at least around me, was in tears as well. Still works, too.
From the first time that I saw this show on PBS I was hocked. I even joined an IRC (internet relay chat) which was one of the original ways to chat on the internet and would talk to other like minded Riverdance chatter. I was invited by one of my chat friends in 1996 or 1997to come visit them in Boston Mass. to go see the Show live there. I went with another friend from the chat room to see it and completely impressed and still to this day love this show. I went to Tulsa, OK to watch it again. Still impressed. In 1997 I went and stayed with another chat friend in San Antonio and saw Lord of The Dance with Michael Flatley. I enjoyed that very much too. I went to several other live shows and loved them all both Riverdance and LOTD. As you can see, I WAS A FANATIC. Will never tire if watching this.
I have my elementary music teacher to thank for introducing me to Riverdance. She'd put this on a few times a year for us, and while the other kids got bored and talked through it, I was always front row & glued to the screen. I would borrow the VHS from our local library back to back, and it was my favorite choice for sick days. I will never be sick of this; it's timeless.
SAME! When I was middle school my music teacher had her class pick out a vhs (or DVD if you had one) of a primarily music oriented video. We would pick from a bowl of names who's to watch that week and analyze them. I was the first one to get picked and I brought this vhs - I don't remember a time when there was NOT talking during this. Kids payed attention to 8 mile or rocky horror picture show, but this never a care in the world - yet my teacher at the end of the year praised me for bringing somthing NOT the norm lol. Part of me REALLY wishes I could watch this live when Flatley was preforming - but I guess this is as close as I can get to it

My filipino family love it and can't believe that one woman's voice can blow a tweeter. 2023 now and ill happily buy more tweeters for as long as I'm on the earth. I also have a VHS copy of the show in Dublin
its wetting my appetite for next month! :)
I’m still loving it on and on.
I will never get tired of watching this, I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid, i actually had this on VHS

I remember being a kid and owning the VHS of this exact performance, and I would watch it over and over again every chance I could. Even today, I still get chills when I watch it.
Omg me too haha . The vhs
Yesss I watched it everyday when I was younger because k was so mesmerised

I played that vhs for my roommate’s daughter almost ever night when she would not sleep as an infant. After the first few months, just putting it on made her sleepy.
My very Italian roommate was not thrilled that the only thing that would put his daughter to sleep was Irish dancing. Or that her favorite show to watch as a toddler was “the princesses” aka Celtic Women. 😂
just as watchable in 2022 as when it was first screened. watch it often now in my 90's
How'd the surgery go?
fooglefuss. He died.
HALO101st how lovely :,)
Riverdance is playing in Dublin February 2020 for 5 days
Who else is watching this masterpiece in 2024?

In absolute awe over the accuracy of their timing... such discipline and MANY MANY hours of practice....

Irish you are the best. Your culture is worthy of respect. I admire you! Hello from Russia!
How are you all holding up over there right now? Wishing you peace and safety during this difficult time for your region.
The uilleann pipes are something incredible. What a superbly haunting & breathtaking sound. The way it's played in this show, is truly brilliant!! He's the uilleann pipe master!
Katia Haalstrom it’s my favorite part of the show!! Do you know the name of the artist and/or song? I would love to add it to my playlist on Spotify!
Davy Spillane. Caoineadh Cu Chulainn. Unfortunately you’re not gonna find his version on Spotify because the only Riverdance music that is on there is the 25th anniversary album.

Everyone seems so entranced by the performers on the stage, especially the two principal dancers, but no-one seems to acknowledge the skill of the musicians. Without them the dancers would be nothing. Brilliant work from ALL.
Sometimes the dancers ARE the musicians, mind you.
So, so true, although in their own right, the dancers are very talented & gifted in their specialised skills. This, cannot be underrated or taken for granted.
The pipes were always my favorite part.
Davy spillane is a genius
I saw this production in 1997 in Brisbane, Australia & can remember my eyes darting to and from the musicians & dancers. I have the CD in my car & still love listening to it. The Principle dancers were Colin Dunn & Jean Butler (not Michael Flately). The song I love most is "Lift the Wings" (my Husband knows it's my funeral song!).
The original AND BEST version of this show.
Oh absolutely!! :-)
Bingo
I say, bring back Riverdance! An encore! Anyone with me here?!
ONLY if it's with Michael Flatley!!!! NOT his understudy. But sadly.... He's retired now
Only with Jean Butler
It's still going strong.
They never stopped - they still tour every year - totally different dancers and cast in general, but still touring... Michael Flatley retired with tons of injuries - this is a tough dance...
No
One thing I appreciate about Michael Flatley versus Colin Dunne is that Flatley looks like he is always having so much fun on the stage.
You have to give Flatley credit for creating Riverdance. He was the originator, so there definitely was soul in his performance.
Shame it's Flatley's ego that did him in.

Wow....it's been 25 years.....The tapping and below the knee flings are mind boggling. Incredible fitness.
Who could ever watch this and not feel something inside - in lack of a better word, I think Joy would describe it.
Absolutely. All true art is pure magic, but none more refined than that which takes all of one's mind, heart, body and soul like this. If it doesn't evoke emotion in the viewer, they have no soul, and thus, no business in that audience.
I saw a river dance at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis I’m at 25 years ago. What an amazing performance. What a great memory!
I first seen this on Public Access television and I've always wanted to see this and now I will in May and can't wait ❤
I can still see my Father glassy eyed watching this on PBS, proud of his much maligned heritage.
Michael Flatley flies! His feet are off the ground more than they are on it. Wow. I loved that they put a red-headed lass in the lead. I wonder how all their knees / ankles / feet are doing some 23 years later.
Answer in his bio available on Google or my comment listed above. May our Lord heal him!
the lead then was Jean Buttler, i think they swap out the leads but im not sure...
It is so sad that beautiful things like this dance require destroying dancers body. Real art is often related to pain in some way.

Wonderful! Still fantastic after 23 years. Michael Flatley will always be the best! 35 taps a second! And no one has broken his record!
Thanks for that, I was wondering whilst I was watching if he still held the record!
Helen Carmody Sure. He broke his own record. The original was 28 taps per second, held by him, then he turned around a few years later and smashed it. I believe he still choreographs, but his knees are pretty messed up now. I think he's more interested in passing his legacy down to his son. He and his wife and son have a lovely estate in Ireland.
ecclestonsangel that record of 35 taps was broken in the same year by James Devine at 38 taps a second
Daire Nolan in Lord Of The Dance would have been a worthy challenger
Mark Andrew yes, he is quite good as the Dark Lord. I dunno if he ever wanted the lead, though. He and Michael were good friends. Now, Michael's son.....He might end up being faster than the old man! He's following in Dad's footsteps. Goodness! He's probably a young teenager, by now.

Same type thing for me. We come here and find something beautiful, meaningful and uplifting.
Then a beautiful peaceful flute makes me want to share these experiences with others The backdrop of ducks flying south for winter is ideal to welcome in summer and to eagerly await for the next winter bedecked with white shining snow The alto solo sung by a beautiful woman dressed in a lovely gown and the acompanying flute makes me feel im in the artic region ! Well.done!

@@TheSDLaud With the amazing amount of talent, he's entitled to it.

Oh yes, the original is EASILY the best. While the 1996, 2002, and 2010 versions added some good numbers, they will never beat the original.
Some people prefer rap and break dancing....you know, dancing masturbation.

Michael personifies performance excellence. His athleticism while delivering a perfect smile is extraordinary. Quit possibly the best stage performer ever. In my opinion.
Ever heard of a guy named Freddie Mercury?
Trump inauguration
In January 2017, Flatley introduced his troupe for a performance at the inauguration of Donald Trump. While the decision was controversial, Flatley called it "a great honour".
This is the first time I've seen Riverdance. I love it. ❤❤❤🤩💯💯💯💯💯👋👋👋👋
Magical.
Me! I love them! I saw them live about 20 years ago. I still have the VHS..2 of them!
Jacky leblanc, Riverdance is absolutely breathtaking.
Yes,it is.I am Polish and sent it out to all my family in Poland, they are amazed
I wish I knew how to spell AMEN in Gaelic. 🙂
This is the best version of Lift the Wings by far. So much passion
God i was 7 years old on 1994 when i saw this first time till today gives me amazing goosebumps. Thank you God for allow me to see this total MAGIC
If you haven't seen Riverdance with both Michael Flately and Jean Butler, you've never really seen Riverdance. The 2 of them make this production truly magical. I have seen Riverdance with Colin also, so yes I know.
Damn right!
And I've seen four versions
It's also the Davy Spillane version.... Nothing else compares, forever and ever, amen.
.
Prefer Colin though as a purer less flashy flirty dancer. Michael is too showy and that's obvious.
@@kfclassen1 amen that Lament on the pipes really gets to me his performance of it is definitive. Other musicians don't render those sobbing heart wrenching banshee wailing notes that are so pure and sublime.
@@fay-amieaspen6046 Flately had a hugh ego wanted it all to be about him, according to Jean Butler her and Flately just didn't get on. Jean Butler much preferred to dance with Colin, who she regarded as the greatest Irish dancer in the world, they are old friends. When River dance made it big both Jean Butler and Michael Flately were on the posters, then after a while it was just Flately. Jean Butler is now 47 and Michael Flately 59.
Saw the show live in Vancouver B.C and cried all through it. Was the most wonderful show I have ever seen

Not only is it a masterpiece, it's also a classic!
Part of me REALLY wishes I could watch this live when Flatley was preforming - but I guess this is as close as I can get to it
My science teacher let us watch this in class today
I wish I knew how to spell AMEN in Gaelic. 🙂
I'm watchin it in 2021 with tears n tingles and joy at this magic
WOW!!!! I smiled so hard my face hurts. I clapped at home when they were done each pieces. I had goosebumps! Absolutely beautiful! Such talent!
Saaame, i can't help but laugh and cry of joy at moments.
The ending utterly leveled me!
hahaha Me too!
Happy st Patrick’s day!!🇮🇪🇮🇪 from all us here in Ireland
Saw the show in 2000 with my ex. She is gone, from my life, but the memory of this show will live in my heart forever ♥️
2019 anyone? I remember watching this on PBS. Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Yes, watching it on St. Paddy's Day, 2019. Wow!! Can't believe it was so many years ago I first saw it.
AMAZING !
I still have the VHS tape! Had to find a new copy because our 1995 version has been worn down from so many viewings.
superb after all these years
Most definately, on a regular basis. Went to the show shortly afterwards and it gave an absolute fresh/new impulse. Love it
Twenty four years on, and this rendition of "Lift The Wings" still rips my heart in half for beauty's sake.
Perfectly described - I can't listen to that song without ugly crying!
I cry whenever I hear Lift The Wings. It is so beautiful...and sad at the same time. The best version is in this Riverdale production.
Greatest variety show from Eire.
Is it Irish?
Ahh sort of.
But! My filipino family love it and can't believe that one woman's voice can blow a tweeter.
2023 now and ill happily buy more tweeters for as long as I'm on the earth.
I now wonder about the performers and where all those magnificent dancers are now.
God's Blessings
I cannot think _ever having seen music, and dance compliment one another with so much energy, joy, and heart stirring emotion evoked,_ as when I first saw this way back in the 90's.
Dangerous World Tour (October 1, 1992) is another candidate
I saw the first show and instantly fell in love with it . I am an old country boy of 76 and it takes a lot to impress me . I have never forgotten this wonderful production .
My husband I went to see the show when it was down here in Florida, purchased the video and just Love to watch it. " Truly A Master Piece Of All Times Especially With Michael Flatley"
This never gets old. And I'm sure I'm about to break the replay button anytime now
😂I'm with you!
Absolutely!!!!! I feel the same way and I have the 1995 VHS for Riverdance.
