Another week has flown by - partly because I got distracted and didn’t stick to the plan!!
My intention was to complete the scenics at the back of the Goods Yard but I was drawn towards the yard covering for the Brewery instead. I’m quite pleased with the outcome but I’m sure there’s more I can do to add more realism. Let me know what you think 🤔
Thank you for watching.

The more I see of it the better it looks keep up the good work 😊😊
Thanks very much 😊
I think what you have done with the foam board looks superb. I understand it will take longer to produce but, think of it as an ‘investment’ as you will be looking at it for any years to come. Ultimately the choice of course is yours.
Thanks. It’s something I might look at again in the future! 👍
good update on layout keep up the cool work
Cheers 👍
Fantastic update mate so like thr brewery makes me really want a bigger shed can't wait to see more 😀 👍🏼
Thanks very much 😊👍
Hi "Grandad". I'll probably get shot down... Now that you have bought the chainlink fencing, I think I would hold off for the time being - you can always add it at a later date. I too think the Scalescenes cobbled sheeting was the right way to go. Once you have given it some more thought, I think you can find various ways to to disguise the joins. Just having the delivery lorry in the yard is one way as it distracts the eye.
Hi. Not at all! I think it was last weeks where update I decided against putting them in. As you say, I could always add them at a later date. I quite like the wall as it is 👍. Regards, Andy
Pop to a DIY shop & look at textured wall paper. There are a few that make very good cobbles.
Thanks. Didn’t know that 👍
Brilliant idea with the gully tops on the joins natural drainage especially by the loading dock
Layout looks amazing

Thanks very much. Regards, Andy 👍
Great video it's changing all the time and progress is amazing great ideas looks so good maybe the back wall needs to be a bit higher to identify the change to goods yard to break the back scene slightly or even add some of the security fencing to it
Thanks very much for the ideas. Really appreciated 👍
I used hedging along my back edge from K and M trees.
Thank you. That’s good to know 👍
Feel you have made the right decision with the cobbles. Appreciate you like to do things properly however a lot of work to texture and when you have weathered, added barrels, vehicles, buildings etc., you see a lot less of the cobbles anyway. Also just “happened” to be at the Harvey’s Brewery in Lewes, Sussex recently. Their brick walls were about six foot high…
Thanks. That’s really useful to know. Guess I just overthink sometimes! 👍
I would use the split rail fence and put a load of overgrown bushes and trees in front and through, from the shed to the industry building.
I see where you mean 👍
Model U sells guttering and down pipes, which you might be interested in
Brilliant. Thank you for that 👍
i think you should get a reward for all this great work ,if there is such a thing
Ha, thank you 😊
Great stuff. Well thought out, it certainly adds to the realism.
Thank you very much 😊
I think the brick back wall definitely needs to be a bit higher than the stone one to help make them ‘psychologically’ (minds eye) distinct structures built at different times. Not sure about the fence posts…they’d certainly look realistic, a security measure added sometime after the original build. But that brick walling looks really nice as it is. Perhaps you could reason there’s overnight security guards (‘night watchmen’ I think would’ve been the term back in the day)…no one’s going to be able to shift a full barrel of ale that size, that fast/that quietly over that wall imo…plenty of time for the night watchmen to intervene. Or you could just regard the local population as a fairly honest bunch! I’m guessing here…but I’m wondering if you’re letting your very high standard of modelling disturb your appreciation of the finished product? You know…that thing that can happen to anyone with high standards, where they’ve made an excellent job of what they’re doing but all they see (and register psychologically) is the tiny little bits that didn’t turn out absolutely perfect, so they lose sight of the overall excellence they’ve achieved. Just a thought. The model railway you’ve built/are building is absolutely excellent imo. Personally, I’d be delighted to achieve anything even close to those standards! Chin up chap! You’re doing a grand job! God bless.
Thanks very much for your thoughts. I really do appreciate it. I do think I have a tendency to overthink things sometimes… 👍
Really enjoying your posts 😊 Great to other folks techniques and thought processes.
Regarding the wall height, had you considered some spiked-top railings mounted on top?
Might be a bit more inkeeping with the brewery style?
Thank you. Not thought of that - they could look quite effective 👍
Brilliant
Thanks 😊
Hi regardless of security guards overnight or not your fencing tops with barbed wire must face inwards and not outward. Hope this is of some guidance. Regards John
Hi John. Thanks very much for that. I didn’t know but if I do opt for them I’ll get them the right way round. Andy. 👍
Could the security fence posts be shortened and attached to the top of the wall?
I did wonder if that might work! 👍
Smaller barrels?
Could be the answer 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt could save you some time, just need a smaller paint brush!
