Also, although I love garlic in everything, I never thought of adding fresh garlic to the curry before serving. Thanks!
Watching this on Christmas morning from Japan and just made the day merrier. As a Japanese, never thought of putting in garlic. Usually put in a bit of dark chocolate or a piece of apple grated for flavor. Looked really good! Otsukaresama!

My favorite brand is Java. I think it tastes the best out of all the brands (Golden Curry, House Vermont Curry, Java). You can find it at Asian markets.
A nice complement to Japanese curry is a little beni shoga (red picked ginger slices) or rakkyo (picked scallions) on the side. Also, you could layer a few slices of cheese on the rice before you ladel in the curry for something a little different.

That may not be dish soap as when you cook raw chicken in water it can foam (like when you make white cut chicken (bak jam gai)). You just skim it off. If it tastes good, you can use it. Now I want to make this! Loved ya'lls movie together.
