I was born at the right time I guess because 1970's was my childhood and 1980's was junior high, high school and young adulthood so both had a powerful impact on me, and I was a bit precocious so I was very attentive to my environment and would even record every hit off the radio. Every song you cover and enjoy has a double significance for me as it evokes specific memories of the era and people I knew and places I lived, so it's personal when I listen to reactions. I wish your generation could go back in time just to observe because the world was so different. Although each decade of the 20th Century was unique in styles, fashion, music and trends, they were all so socially connected and there was this blissful innocence of just indulging yourself in all life has to offer in a carefree sense. But in the 21st Century the change was so drastic that it feels like a switch was flipped (and the events of 9/11 played a part as well). Not just the amazing music with heart that is often lacking today but in social isolation, violence, loss of innocence, lack of connection, extreme political correctness as to what you can say or do, etc. It's as if the previous century was a dream and then suddenly someone abruptly woke us up and said "okay, that's enough of that fantasy and carefree indulgence, time to snap out of it and face cold reality." At first I thought it was just me or because I'm older but I've seen so many others express a similar sentiment, not just my those my age but even Gen Z when they observe music, movies and videos from our days. It's not fair because today's generation has the same social desires and wanderlust but it's just a different way of life now for all of us -- and it only seems to be moving more and more that direction. Archival footage, recordings is how we temporarily revisit (and today's generations experience) that different time and and computer technology is how we remotely communicate now. I figured those who only know life today won't know what they're missing and what you don't know can't hurt you, but then I see a lot of young people just have that same feeling, like something is missing. And when they observe or listen to our times they seem to connect to it and see what that is.
I LOVE IT!!! You guys have the best chemistry and I love the fact you are both brutally honest. I just stumbled upon your reviews. Great songs and opinions.
I love that song! Can you all react to “Human” by them as well? And y’all are right, the 80’s were a blast. If I had a Delorean, I’d build a time machine and go back to 1985. 🤣
Correct. This was always a generally happy, laid-back country as I recall. People pretty much brushed aside the bs. Started getting reeeaaal dark around '01.
This isn’t the video I grew up watching for this song. The one I know follows the story of the song. This video is definitely a time capsule though and, yes, the 80’s were truly amazing. The music was so diverse and different and we used to listen to all styles of songs, not just one genre. If it was good, we liked it - simple as that.
Seen a lot of these reaction channels and have to say you guys are one the best.!!!! 🙌 The reactions are great because your Girlfriend/Wife seems to be truly only seeing or hearing the music & Videos for the first time. 😱😁🙏 Where exactly are you guys from, luv those Southern accents...!? 😁 More 80’s and ‘Live MJ’ please...!!!! 🤞
I get what you are saying. I grew up in the eighties and I feel like it was the best decade. Thanks for bringing back some old memories. Please react to the Rolling Stones from 1981, Start Me Up or Waiting on a Friend! Keep up the good work.👍
Wait, you chose an "American Bandstand" clip of people dancing to a recording of the song as the "video" to show her (not even the band there lip-syncing a performance) when there is an actual music video? Very strange, unless you were just making a commentary on the cheesy 1980's style and dancing.
The two female singers in the band weren't trained singers, so it's fair to say they probably don't have the best voices, especially when compared to the obviously great voice of the lead (male) singer. It has to be the accent she's responding negatively to though.
Yes we had fun, we danced and danced and danced some more! Believe me you don't have the fun we had. NO the drugs were not prevalent at ALL!! I swear clean good fun. There were drugs but nothing like now.
Don't forget one of the 80s best songs was Alphaville's "Forever Young," or "take on Me" by AHA.
Synth pop perfection.
You know what's weird...I actually watched that episode back then. Wow!
What?? Her voice is the pinnacle of the song? I don’t…what?

The way you make me feel
Human League Lebanon was played on American Bandstand.
So, her part is the highlight of the song. The way it just enters the conversation, and she doesn't ask permission.
Just subscribed! Y’all should keep on making videos! The difference in you guys music taste is hilarious 😂 very interesting reaction 👌🏼
Her imitation of the female singer was hilarious too😂
Love 80’s new wave music!

National treasure? Yes for American Bandstand, but the group is British.
Sheffield’s finest!… great city in Yorkshire, England that also produced Arctic Monkeys, Pulp & Def Leppard!

Soul Train was better!!!
The young generation is just so boring...
