You Don't Need a GE Water Filter!

STOP buying their water filters! In this video we show how to get around GE making you buy their water filter. The only difference between the XWF and XWFE water filters is a chip on the back of the XWFE filter. The chip uses radio frequency identification (RFID) to communicate with newer GE refrigerators.

What does the chip do?

The chip lets the fridge know that that’s a GE filter that was put in and not a generic. That’s all the chip does. If you don’t have it there, the fridge won’t recognize it and the water will not dispense through the fridge. Thank you for watching and for the great question.
