    Prompted by the Spirit to search for a 'possible' UA-cam segment you might have created regarding Easter...and miraculously... "Unshaken": The Awful Arithmetic of the Atonement" popped up (a direct, humble answer to prayer). I am weeping as I write this humble note of gratitude for you...your years of personal, spiritual and academic preparation to create this 'condensed' masterpiece of biblical, academic and musical stirring testimony of our dear Savior, our premortal covenant to Him and our Heavenly Father, and our pre-existent fellow spirits to be faithful followers and to be "saviors on Mt. Zion" to our family and those with whom "we know not!" May you continually be blessed with health, strength of purpose and purity of spirit as you bless countless such as myself. May the Lord bless and keep you to this end...Sister Lola Cook.

    Brother Halverson I am so grateful for this beautiful Easter presentation, I didn't watch it before and there's so much more I learned from it; I'm so grateful for the deep insights from every equation in the Awful Arithmetic of Christ Atonement; for declaring Himself also "It is finished" He was and is prepared to understand each of our temptations, he is ready to cleanse our dirt if we repent, comfort us in our suffering and help us to go back to the Father's and His presence. It was a beautiful gallery of pictures explaining what we didn't see but inviting us to reflect on His suffering to change the nature of the flesh; I am grateful for the shared music and the beautiful poem; yes we all will pass through Gethsemane and I hope we can meet our Savior there. ❤

    You are an amazing teacher!
    As you were explaining the Atonement of Christ step by step, I had a question come to my mind- “Does Jesus’ Atonement apply to all- not only earthly creation- but ALL creation throughout the universe?” and very soon, you were talking about numberless worlds & their inhabitants being saved by what Jesus did.
    Imagine the sin, transgression & pain of humanity throughout the lifespan of THIS planet alone weighing down on Him, and then multiply that by all the worlds that are and were...

    • @scottgudsg
      @scottgudsg 4 місяці тому

      The Atonement applies to "all creatures". All were given commandments to multiply and replenish the earth. We don't know much else regarding this. But all creatures will be resurrected. And receive a level of glory. Our Lord suffered for them all!
      It's impossible to comprehend.

    Nowhere have I ever heard the atonement of Christ explained and expressed SO well as here in this video. Thank you, Jared, for your wonderful preparation and insight. I too was blessed back in 1978 to enjoy BYU Travel Study abroad in Israel. This was the year that President Spencer W Kimball dedicated Orson Hyde park. This was also prior to the BYU Jerusalem Center being built. Looking back to that time in my life it was the turning point that centered my focus for religious study on Christ. Math has always been a love of mine and thanks to you I now understand why. Please continue to share your gospel insights and knowledge of the scriptures. What a great devotional about Gethsemane! As you were talking about the Divine side of Christ and the human side which was instructive and insightful, I couldn't help thinking of Mosiah 3:19 where we are invited to put off the natural man, through the atonement of Christ. The result is we become more divine. I am not implying we become equal with God, but that we are invited to become like Him. We are given commandments to put off the natural man and become more divine. We are dual beings having a spiritual and a mortal side and continually in scripture and by the words of our prophets we are invited to foster the spiritual side of our natures. Love this channel!

    • @Unshaken
      @Unshaken  4 роки тому +3

      What a perfect cross-reference for that concept! We definitely share in a duality of our own, and Christ shows us the perfect example of having the will of one swallowed up in the will of the other. Thanks for sharing!

    At 52:36 you asked a question. Upon hearing it I felt that the answer has to be nothing. What more could Satan have offered which hadn't already been placed on the table. When we are going through trials, one thing which makes our endurance through them just that much easier is the opposition directly in our path. As an example, there are accounts of Jewish faith being strongest during their times of affliction (scripturally) and during the holocaust in modern day times. When trying to push through adversity, detracting temptations tend to have a strengthening and bolstering effect for the committed soul rather than being a hindrance. By letting Jesus be alone with his suffering, Christ would have no one and nothing to fight against but himself. This struggle has been, is, and yet will be the most difficult one for us to overcome. Indeed it is the reason we have come to this phase of our existence; to have our will tested. As you illustrated so masterfully, Jesus asked for the cup's removal three times but overcame his own weakness in asking thrice as well. I believe Satan's interference could only have helped Jesus in his noble task.
    Your question stirred something inside my soul and since you've taken it upon yourself to send your understanding out to us, I hope to return the favor in hopes that it may be of some benefit to you or someone else. Thank you for your efforts. You are proving to be a spiritual equivalent of Jordan B Peterson for me.

    Great video. I too had wondered why John skipped over the Atonement but your answer was very satisfying. I'm convinced that there were heavenly onlookers, blown away and stunned by what they were witnessing.
    "I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me... their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me" (Isaiah 63:3-5).

    Thank u Jared u r a rising star ⭐️ ur life gives me faith in the day star shining bright ☀️ w/ future leadership in these latter days (Eph 1.10) of the greatest calling is that of a teacher - no greater call (Moses 6.23)!
    The atONEment (dc 19) is the MOST important; yet, least understood doctrine it is truly the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ to which all else is merely an appendage to it!
    I am an elderly individual & i have not heard a dissection of the atONEment like this since Cleon Skousen laid it forth in the appendix of the first Two Thousand years as he was influenced by Elder John Wistdoe when he served his mission in Ireland 🇮🇪 as I did also. Thank the Lord for u Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 missionaries !
    I love u my brother our marvelous opportunity for life to have our missions be the foundation (dc 4) for the rest of our lives to help strive, not merely try, to make the atONEment efficacious (3 Ne 13.34) each & e/day (dc 20.77,79) in our personal lives (2 Cor 13.5) & ministry (Acts 10.38-42)!

    Thank you so much for this explanation of Abinidi’s words on this subject. I have struggled and struggled with putting it into intelligible language my whole life. I knew what was meant but I could never say it correctly. Thanks again.

    Maybe the reason why John didn't include a first hand account is because it was so personal and so sacred that he couldn't record it.
    Perhaps each of the Apostles who were in close proximately to one another would have hear and or witnessed their own sins being Atoned for, that Peter, James, and John would feel it too sacred to write and share with the World, let alone other Disciples. Knowing just how sacred the event when the Righteous Nephites and Lamanites witnessed the Sacred Prayers of the Savior, one could only imagine the intensity and the very Sacred Language used during Jesus Christ's Atonement, the Pinnacle Moment in time.

    Maybe the reason why John didn't include a first hand account, is because it was so personal, and so sacred, that he might feel like he couldn't record it. Perhaps he was even instructed not to include the Sacred Atoning Words of Jesus Christ, except for the initial Atonement Prayer as Recorded in the Testimonies of Mathew, Mark, and Luke.
    Perhaps each of the Apostles who were the closest in proximately to Jesus Christ, would have heard and or witnessed their own sins being Atoned for them. Thus, Peter, James, and John would feel it Too Sacred to write and share with the World; even between other Disciples.

    When I have read the Gospel of John, at first it appeared to me that John skipped over the whole experience. But then it occurred to me that the intersessory prayer was the essence of the Gethsemane experience.
    Further, if I concider that the Gospel of John is a letter written to the returning Twelve Tribes, and is his wittness to them of the restoration, what then opens up?

    I still don’t understand why can’t God just forgive himself. Why take an extra (arguably unnecessary) step of killing a innocent person.

    • @ricardoluque1931

      Like, if God already went through all of this living dying etc in his “human”time how did he forget about sin and the pain that comes with it? Isn’t he all powerful and knows all? Why go through the extra step of theatrical proportions to kill someone to only forgive them when he could already do it himself? I just don’t understand.
