Cecile Licad was the last recipient of the Leventritt award in 1981 and they stop giving the award because they can’t find a deserving pianist or violinist to receive it.

Cecile Licad was one of Imelda Marcos’ scholars in the realm of the performing arts. What a rare gem Cecile Licad is - auditioning at age 12 (!) straight from the Philippines, at the the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music! Auditioning is one thing, but getting accepted and mentored by Maestro Rudolf Serkin is on another level. Enough said, the video clips on her Cecile Licad archive channel is proof of the genius and fruit of the wise stewardship of that genius. 👏👏👏

I saw Cecile Licad play the piano when she was just about 9 years old in front of our school principal in our school's piano room on the ground floor. Cecile was just about 8 feet away from me back then.
On the coming weekend just a few days later, Mama said Cecile played the piano during the school's PTA (Parents Teachers Association) meeting and Cecile gave a memorable virtuoso performance at such a very young age.
She is Cecile Buencamino Licad, the grand niece of FRANCISCO BELTRAN BUENCAMINO, SR., a renowned Filipino musician who was given a posthumous Outstanding Composer Award.
I got to know because Cecile's first cousin from the Buencamino clan was my classmate.

Cecile Licad studied at Curtis Institute of Music.Do you know that its admission rate is 3 percent? Hardest school to enroll, harder than Harvard

Excellent pianist. Nice to see Serkin happy. The orchestra is heavy, with almost no sense of whatever humor there is in this otherwise atrocious music
