I've been exposed to it a bit through yoyoing since both are in the same genre of a skill toy. I think they're great if you can do the tricks, but as a tool, I'd rather carry any other knife. I'd rather not carry a karambit either. I know a friend of a friend who acts all badass with his, but everyone knows he's just an edge lord with it. I carry an OTF, but at least it's usable as a knife.

Fun fact: The karambit belongs to the list of dedicated tools weaponized. It started life as a knife used for cutting material into strips and root cutting more specifically. That's why it has a strange curve to it and is held in reverse grip. It allows the user to get a good pull going.
The butterfly knife is just an unusual switchblade style knife, and is illegal to carry in a lot of places.

Balisong is one of the most enjoyable things ever. Learning new tricks and all of that. Never learned to skate or anything really because my parents were too afraid of me hurting myself. So now that im older, taking up balisong was not only a rebellious slap in the face, but it taught me that practice makes perfect and to take pride and patience in what i do.

Karambits kind of suck for a fighting knife because you can’t thrust with them, which means you’re going to have to get into grappling range to do any real damage. You’re going to have to work twice as hard as opposed to using a straight or fixed blade.

Karanbits actually aren't combat knives, at least that wasn't their original purpose. They do work great for that to, but they were designed as another variety of military utility knife, kinda like how a machete is designed to slash through brush and hedging but works on flesh. It wasn't the purpose, just an unintended possible second use.

You know what people say about reverse grip. And the Karambit is basically a knife meant to be held in a reverse grip normally, so... Oof

    • @-jax-3631
      @-jax-3631 Рік тому +3

Reverse grip is bad if you're sword fighting, if you brought a knife to a sword fight you fucked up anyways. If you know what you're doing the reverse grip for knife fighting is very effective. Just think about how dangerous a mma fighter or a boxer is, then attach knives to his fists.
