Learn how to paint your dog's portrait in oil paints. I will take you from start to finish with all the emotion and love in each stroke that only a portrait of your pet can hold
The palette is explained in the video. If you have any questions just leave them in the comment section and I will get to you.

The Domed Eclipse Filbert I was using can be found on this link....it's a wonderful little brush, great for both application and blending.

@@coviedogs yes. She does a year ago on November 2. She was 15.5 years old. My new sweet companion is Singer, my Standard Poodle. He has been such a joy. He’s a year old now. Thanks for your caring. ❣️

Somebody has asked me to paint a similar looking dog but most of the photos she provided of the dog are lo-res and distance, it is going to be a fun journey =D

Thanks Vera City, Phoebe was a super dog and I loved having her in my life. She lived to be 15.5 years old. I now have Singer in my life, a Standard Poodle. As for brushes, I generally use Rosemary and Company paint brushes and will include the link here for your consideration

Lost my other fur baby Coco passed last November 14 yes old. PEANUT I lost last Saturday night found him Sunday morning 3 ft from me. Broke my heart ,now they are both gone😥😔💔

Hi Judi! And thanks for becoming my latest subscriber. I use many sizes of brushes. My favorites are Rosemary and company Ivory long filberts and Eclipse king filberts. Since this was a small piece (8x10) I was using 1-4 in size. For curly hair, I was using a pointed round brush but for long hair, I like using a dagger brush. Thanks for watching and for subscribing. i am doing a stencil of dog golden doodle orange tan umber and white brown but i don't know if i am mixing them right .?
You would definitely benefit from my membership on UA-cam so we can all hangout on a live stream….I will be starting a painting g soon of a golden doodle posthumous piece. You could watch and ask questions …..I generally lay down the darker cooler colors first and layer with the lighter warmer colors after.

So did you free hand the outline of puppy? You use transfer paper? I’m good with color and shading, it’s the proportions of dog features is my challenge!!!
Hi Tanya. Yes. I free hand drew the sketch of Phoebe onto the substrate. Lots of folks will use projection or transfer paper, or gridding etc…and that’s fine. For me, those procedure add an extra step that I am too impatient to deal with. You will see if you watch my videos, that I often adjust for me errors in proportion while I am painting. We are all challenged with proportion, trust me, but I generally wing it. Happy painting and thanks for watching my video. 😃🙏🏻❤️

I used an array of grays from the 12 Shades of Gray collection (see the product review on the them) I also had vandyke brown , Payne’s Gray, titanium white , yellow ochre, radiant Red by Gamblin.
