    Fascinating video (from someone who's never had a bike fit). Guess what I'm booking asap?!?

    Great video and thanks to the bike shop! 🎉 🙏 Definitely looked more natural on the bike after the fit and hopefully this will lead to more comfort and power. I’ve struggled to get my indoor set up right. You would think I should just follow the fit on my outdoor bike but for some reason, it’s not been that simple. That may just be that the Wattbike is a bit rubbish to adjust 😂

      I’ve never even tried a watt bike, I need to set up a new bike soon so will see how close I can get it.

    The bike fitter is very knowledgeable saw a difference straight away after these tweaks

      Yeah bringing the knee back over the pedal has been a big change and its certain had an impact on my watts

    One more reason why he cant keep an aero tuck is probably his 175 cranks which causes hip impingement when doing a tuck.

    You look so much better on the bike with those tweaks, how does it feel after doing a few races with the fit, and did you make any adjustments after a few rides?.

      Thanks for saying. Its been feeling good- the main thing is trying to get the right balance using quad/hamstring, which is feeling good but i want to give it a few weeks before i change anything with the seat set up.
      I would be tempted to pull the stem shorter but i also could just improve my hipflexor mobility and get more comfortable with a smaller knee/torso angle so im going to give that a few weeks as well.
      So no changes yet and feeling better and better to ride on

    Often bike fit Vids get way overly complicated. Your position will change between bikes, types of bikes and terrain. Take riding in the alps... up or down and not much flat, the time you spend going upwards would require a slightly different position. As your flexibility changes, your fit will change too. I think this is a good practical fit which has dropped you in the ball park. Not much point in doing anything else with it until you have several hundred miles in your legs with the set up. On one of your outdoor videos I noticed a wobble in the tracking of your right knee I think, can't see it in this series of vids as no frontal shots. Cleat position, rotation and in-board out- board changes may make that a bit tidier too. ( It could be injury related too!) . You will adapt to this pretty quickly. Cool thing about the crank reduction is that it also reflects the same amount in saddle height, so although only 2.5mm you actually get potentially a 5mm increase in height between the top-most pedal height and the saddle height, which relieves a lot of hip angle. Looks way better. I went from 175 to 170 so that was a huge difference for me. I did try 165's but it felt a little too tight a pedaling circle.

      I’m looking forward to the shorter cranks but I struggle a bit to get my head around shorter cranks- I just seem to think my cadence will be x100.
      Yeah hopefully be able to develop the fit once out on the road so it’s more specific to the style of riding I end up doing the most

      @@thewattlife lol you control cadence with gears not crank length. For the same gear, same cadence,same rpm and same speed you have to apply more torque not less... so it is more like having a bigger gear not smaller.

    This is really interesting. Can you get your forearms where you want them now?
    As a man who just bought a Wattbike and started pedalling, this is very different to my fit. I don’t have an outside bike at all 😂
    Do you feel more efficient now? Race today would suggest so 😊

      Yeah feeling good for it. One thing ive noticed (which in part has come through increasing fitness) but im up out the saddle more and able to mix up my pedal stroke.
      Bars are a bit more stretched out now so i can get on my elbows but need to work on my hipflexor mobility but theres more room to get into that position.
      Knee placement over the pedal has probably been the most important thing which comes from saddle moving back

    Did he do a body set of measurements or was it just the foot stuff?
    Like did he check leg length, flexibility, etc?

    • @thewattlife
      @thewattlife  8 місяців тому +2

      Yup we went through all of that and one leg is ever so slightly longer so I have a small adjustment plate on my left cleat now. My knee creases were slightly different. Full fit was 4 hours so had to cut down a lot of it

    Got my tape, got my broom handle changed my set up a lot.
    Now my quads get pumped and fatigue very fast.
    Let’s see if I can adapt and it helps my output 😂

      @thewattlife  8 місяців тому

      Ha good man- I’m about to do the same on my new bike. I found the same, the shift in saddle changed how much I engaged my quads/hamstring ratios

      @@thewattlife I can do the pedal with no hands now ( although I think I was sitting too far back before).
      I only changed to SPD pedal from straps in October, so think my set up was pretty bad.
