I have enrolled for this course with CPLED and I start in July. Will provide feedback on the course. I agree with you that they should have considered various factors like years of experience, level of education etc. and not just assign the course blindly to all candidates. For example I have been practicing law for almost 4 years and I hold an LLM (which included a 50 page thesis). I communicated with both the NCA and CPLED but I was only exempted from 1 subject but still have to do LRW. CPLED even advised me to take the course prior to writing the NCA exams as they say that the course helps with writing the exams. I suppose maybe they did an evaluation of the answer scripts they receive and noticed a skills gap.
I agree with you. In my LLM program i had legal research and methodology. They did not considered it . I was planning to register for the same in October. Let us know how it went. Thankyou.
@@RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit So I finished the LRW course yesterday. It was 8 weeks (which felt very short) intense and necessary. It really is vital to do it before writing the NCA exams. The course starts off with 2 quiz tests that are based on the Canadian Legal research and writing guide. The guide covers every aspect of legal research such as research strategies, different sources of research, researching Canadian Federal and Provincial Legislation, how regulations are made, citing statute and cases , hierachy of courts, formulation of legal arguments, noting up legislation and drafting( incld a sample of a legal memo) etc. The legal research aspect starts off with an indepth dive into various legal research sources especially Lexis Nexis Quicklaw. We were given 2 research assignments about living wills (which don't exist in my jurisdiction). Then the second part was legal writing, we were given 2 written assignments. The last 2 assignments we submitted make up the mark for the course. The first two were marked very critically, we received detailed feedback including annotation notes. There is so much to unpack but i hope this helps someone and motivates them to take the course before the exams. It is truly beneficial.
I have given this 3 times they fail for no reason. I passed the feedback 1/2 assignments and they failed in finals. Everytime everyone is passed differently. Are there any alternative to this. It's stressful my 2 years have been wasted. Any help will be great. And the 8 week course no classes or information is provided.
@@divykushsingh5217 honestly, it just seems like a way for CPLED to make money from bureaucracy. It's not a difficult course by any measure. Half of it read as one big advertisement for Lexis. There are four assignments based on two fact patterns (one on research and one on writing). It's basic law school work. I truly think anyone can pass it, even while working.
@shawnellemartineaux6212 can you share you e-mail or any other way of communication, If you can share some information on the legal research and writing it would be great. Thank you
Hello I’m a Indian law graduate if I take a paralegal course should I still take up this additional course for the NCA AND taking paralegal diploma and then registering with NCA is it good?

Great suggestion!
Can you complete the LRW course in your own time? Can this course be completed in less than 9 weeks? Are there deadlines for each of the assessments?
I had to take this course. I am actually on my last assignment, which is due next week (May 31, 2023). It was...interesting. We could talk. LOL
Happy to chat! Can you email me at lawstudykit@gmail.com?
Hey, can you please share your insights on the course? How difficult is it and how long are the assignments?
@@RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit will do

Are there more courses like these which can help us meet the NCA criteria ??
You can take this course at a Canadian law school or at CPLED.
When should we take this course. After clearing nca exams or before.
You can take it anytime after you get your NCA assessment.
@@RabeeaKhalidLawStudyKit okay thanks rabeea.
