Something else from that beacon of journalistic integrity, Sixty Minutes.
Has anyone seen the footage from the report "A Mother's Burden" that shows an SAS man practising his shooting in an indoor range?
See it here, GRAPHIC VIDEO - Port Arthur Massacre from about 20:30.
He's wearing ear muffs. It can be reasonable inferred they were to protect his hearing.
Compare that scene with what we're supposed to believe about the PAM.
Massacre survivors were deaf for weeks afterwards.
No-one said the gunman in the Broad Arrow Café/ Visitors' Centre was wearing ear muffs.
Martin Bryant's hearing was not impaired when he was arrested.
For that reason, he could not be the gunman.
I can't post this information in the comments section of Port Arthur Massacre 1996 Part 1 of 2, which is the most-watched Port Arthur Massacre video according to the viewcount provided by UA-cam.
It must be something they don't want people to discuss.
I wonder if there's anything about any Tasmania Police officers on sick leave for a few weeks from the end of April 1996.
How was Benjamin Overbeeke's hearing at the time? I expect he was well-compensated for a few weeks' inconvenience.
Maybe someone should do a little FOI?

Some intelligent comments and perspectives from people on the comment section that have obviously done their research. This interview with the featherstones does not sit well with me and there are some contradictions that make me question their credibility. When I researched Port Arthur over 10 years ago I read a story from a journalist that covered a woman police officer in England being shot from an embassy window. That journalist took an interest in Port Arthur massacre and highlighted all the flaws in the official story. The clincher for me is that slimy Little John Howard locked away all records of Port Arthur for over 100 years. THAT in itself tells the truth of a cover up. The truth will always prevail despite the government and media doing their best to engineer your perceptions.

If it is true that he fired 29 rounds in a reported 15 sec for 20 head-shot kills and 12 injuries whilst shooting from the hip in the Broad Arrow cafe, then all I have to say is that Bryant must have been practicing for 8 hours per day for a bloody long time, firing THOUSANDS of practice rounds. Because that is phenomenal marksmanship with a semi-auto rifle....There would be relatively few special forces operatives in the world who could achieve that accuracy for that kill/injury ratio.
So who did he get the practice ammo from and where did he fire those thousands of rounds.
Plus it seems very strange that he could exhibit such amazing marksmanship in the cafe, but at Seascape he is reported to have fired about 250 rounds at police and hit no one !
Maybe it is because as "Jamie" he was holding the phone talking to the negotiator while shooting...oh no thats right those gun shots we hear were officially called "coughs"made by the negotiator....LMAO he ought to get a job doing sound effects then because they were perfect gun shot noises.

The average pig has a higher IQ than the average person and make the most loyal and intelligent pets/friends. I sleep with my dog - that does not make me potentially dangerous. If the Featherston's were on my property - I would probably tell them to F.O. too. They have no forensic knowledge and dead animals hanging off their walls - They are the ones who seem dangerous. How dare they portray someone loving an animal as psychotic - How could anyone believe people so uneducated.

& wounded twelve more firing a total of only 29 rounds. Using known techniques reported by witnesses he ensured his own safety from attack by turning on the spot and staying outside grappling range. It was an awesome display of expertise, even by special forces standards"
According to eyewitness & victim Neville Quin "He [the gunman] appeared to be the best-trained army guy I've ever seen his stance was unbelievable"

Brigadier Ted Serong, former head of Australian forces in Vietnam-
"Whoever did it is better than I am, and there are not too many people around here better than I am."
The shooter in the Broad Arrow Café at Port Arthur demonstrated all of the qualities of a trained counterterrorist marksman but made no amateur mistakes. Always in motion and point shooting from the right hip with devastating accuracy he killed twenty of the occupants with single shots to the head.

Anyone would think the establishment is dead afraid of the whole Port Arthur story these days.
Here's a mini book review some might find interesting.
In "Notorious Australians the Mad, the Bad and the Dangerous", by Toby Geswell (ABC Books, 2008) Martin Bryant and Port Arthur are mentioned how many times?
    NONE.
The person reputed to be the most notorious mass murderer in Australian history is not mentioned even once in a book in which you'd expect him to figure prominently.
    Why not?

    • @mjollner23
      @mjollner23 10 років тому +4

Pat the authorities on the back!
Martin Bryant was a copycat. No one paid him the attention he felt he deserved. Inspired by the Dunblane School massacre and due to the massive media-attention of that perp... Columbine also got massive attention and almost every school shooter since has cited Harris an Klebold as their inspirations.
Port Arthur or Martin Bryant has not inspired any massacre, mostly due to the fact that authorities silenced it down and chose not to give the deed a lot of attention. And that's how ALL massacres should be handled imo.

    • @TheDamiandemos
      @TheDamiandemos 10 років тому +5

      mjollner23
So the "authorities" wrote the book I referred to, did they?
Who knows. maybe they did, in the sense that the ABC would never publish anything that challenged the official story about Port Arthur, because they're part of the establishment.
If you want to talk about media not giving him publicity, look no further than the national flagship newspaper of the so-called quality press. The Australian had a doctored photo of Martin Bryant, his name and identifying details and the caption "The Killer" on the front page on 30/4/1996. Other media were no better.
The police never did a thing.
Why did Paul Kelly and others responsible for this criminal contempt of court not go to prison?
If he WAS guilty, the media gave him just the sort of publicity he would have wanted and just the sort of publicity that could have encouraged a copycat.
Bot of course he wasn't, and when they finished playing the tragedy like a fiddle, they dropped it and the many questions surrounding it like a hot potato.

      @TheDamiandemos 10 років тому +3

      TheDamiandemos
Come to0 think of it, I may have judged the ABC a bit too harshly-just a tiny bit.
There's supposed to be a Four Corners Doco about Port Arthur that was never aired.
      FOI, anyone?
But other than that, there's a bit of pissweak probing into why the emergency exit at the Visitors Centre was jammed by Kerry O'Brien and The Seven-Thirty Report.
O"Brien built his career ion making sure he only went just deep enough.
Stuart Littlemore and MediaWatch did some reasonably good work about Martin Bryant's trial by media.
Kerry O'Brien had a brilliant careerin the following years at the ABC, Littlemore not so much. He could be a wanker at times but he had a thousand times more integrity than O'Brien.

Professor you described the cafe scene only moment before the first round was fired perfectly. There had to been two gun men involved and one of them was inside waiting for the order (key word) to sweep his side of the room. You can only imagine the carnage, the element of surprise, speed, accuracy, recalculation of targets, list goes on. They had no chance!. It was over in seconds. What most cant comprehend is all their kills were headshots. Now imagine Martin Bryant doing it -"It Doesnt Fit"

The last part said that Martin Bryant had an obsession with firearms. He didn't. He only owned the guns recently before the massacre. When people searched his home (expected a display of perversion) they only found that he had a huge collection of Disney movies and over 200 teddy bears.
Quite honestly put, if Martin Bryant was so utterly evil and threatened so many people and even shot at them with air rifles, then why wasn't he arrested? They certainly had grounds for it.

I have to admit these people seem like it was a staged interview-but remember this was very shortly after the biggest massacre by one man ever and this man was there neighbour who they encountered who they knew, they knew Bryan'ts Friend who owned the farm next door and was killed while with Bryant-they also had Bryan'ts father die next door to them in a dam -these people are in shock - just put yourself in there shoes they would be numb with shock! They probably have a million things racing their minds with the fact the weird guy Martin murdered 35 people and injured many others and we lived next door!come on people watch the interview with Bryant you don't have to be Einstein to work out he had severe mental problems and got a rush from what he did.Its sad but these people do not fit in with society and really will not be anything important until they stoop to this level.Society can be really cruel and some times push people to go down this path, but at the end of the day a mentally sane person would not go through with it-Bryant did it he's proud of it and these poor people are in shock!

      NO not at all.
The fact there was no court case or proper inquiry is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact Martin Bryant could not have made so may head shots in such a short time is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact witnesses who SAW the shooter and said IT WAS NOT BRYANT and were not listened to is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact there was no Coronial investigation is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact we are told ` There were 20 killed 12 injured inside the cafe with 29 bullets is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact they kept police half a hour away for over 5+ hours Because ` It was TOO DANGEROUS FOR POLICE ` is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact they sent 2 women police officers OFF the BEAT in Hobart via Helicopter and not more senior more competent police officers for the situation is poof of a conspiracy.
The Fact Bryant admitted to owning 3 guns and there were many many guns found at the site is proof of a conspiracy.
      June 1995.
Press Release. Uniform national gun laws are drawn up in Canberra.
A specially constructed morgue truck unlike anything else in Australia or perhaps the world, refrigerated and capable of carrying 22 bodies is delivered to the Southern Tasmanian Mortuary Service. It is used only once - at Port Arthur- then disposed of.
Code Brown , a disaster emergency response plan, involving multiple casualties, is instigated at the RHH (Royal Hobart Hospital) Is proof of a conspiracy.
The fact management of Port Arthur were sent away that morning at 11am to go to a meeting the next day, That had NEVER happened before in 18 known years and is proof of a conspiracy.
      11am. 28th April,1996.
Top ten managers of the Port Arthur site are evacuated in 3 government cars. Looks Like a Conspiracy to me ?
      November 1995 .
      Fact,Roland Browne, spokesman for the
Tasmanian branch of the Coalition for Gun Control, warned all Australians that if Tasmania didn't enact tougher firearms laws then there would be a massacre in Tasmania of massive proportions. Evidence of a conspiracy.
Fact, Ray Groome as Attorney General removed any claim by any worker or volunteer for compensation to overcome PTSD -( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) from the Workers Compensation Act, the main injury resulting from the Port Arthur Massacre. Several of the victims have suicided since. Evidence of a conspiracy
Fact, Coroners Act 1995 is introduced containing a new clause that any finding of any subsequent coroners inquest (which allows much more evidence than a normal court of law) must not conflict with or contradict the prior findings of the Supreme Court in the same case. John Howard illegally helped prevent a Coroners Inquest being called into the Port Arthur Massacre. Is evidence of a conspiracy.
      March 1996.
The Fact. The warning is repeated - the spokesman for the national anti-gun lobby in Tasmania said there will be a massacre in Tasmania unless we get uniform gun laws. Is evidence of a conspiracy
The Fact Ray Groome stood down as Premier voluntarily to take on the duties of Attorney-General, Justice Minister, Minister for Tourism, (Port Arthur is a tourist site), Minister for Workplace Standards and Minister responsible for the Port Arthur Site.
All of which bore responsibility for Port Arthur and the aftermath of the massacre. IS Evidence of a Conspiracy.
The fact Bryant was interviewed WITHOUT a lawyer and with the consent of his lawyer ,- What Lawyer says it is `OK` to speak to police without him there especially after a massacre, That is evidence of a conspiracy.
      1pm. 28th April,1996.
The Fact, A Seminar for trauma specialist doctors from all around Australia, involving response to a mass shooting, is completed at or very near to Hobart Hospital. A Conspiracy .
      .
A Fact, All seventeen ambulance personnel are in attendance at Hobart Ambulance Headquarters, despite it being a Sunday.
Three helicopters are available on this Sunday despite there being normally only one. Looks like a conspiracy to me.
      1.24pm. Sunday 28th April ,1996.
A Fact that The only reported police on duty within an hour of the Tasman Peninsular, both called out by radio from police headquarters in Hobart to attend at Saltwater river; 1/2 hour drive from Port Arthur, in relation to a first ever, supposed heroin cache, radio in their arrival. (the heroin cache turns out to be jars of soap powder) Evidence of a Conspiracy.
      27-28th April 1996.
A small unknown Fact, 700 journalists from 17 countries arrive for a conference beginning on 29th April in Hobart Tasmania. 80 are bussed to the PA site in a pre-booked coach. Evidence of a Conspiracy.
      The Israeli Connection.
Another small little known Fact is that, The Israeli Mizraim is an elite group inside the Mossad who specialize is assassinations in the West Bank and elsewhere. They are trained to have no compulsion about shooting Goyim, ‘cattle’ which they regard gentiles to be. Of the six members of this group who are the top worldwide in their field three just happened to be holidaying in Tasmania at the time of the Port Arthur Massacre. A coincidence maybe ?
Barrie Unsworth (NSW Premier at the time) let the cat out of the bag that the planning for the massacre was begun 10 years prior, when he emerged from a state and federal ministers conference in Hobart stating to the waiting media, that unless they get uniform national gun control - why? there would be a huge massacre in Tasmania.
The SOG (Special Operations Group) within the Tasmanian Police responded to the massacre according to the SOG Manual prepared in accordance with the November 1995 (how convenient) Anti - Terrorist Plan drawn up by SACPAV (Standing Advisory Committee for Protection Against Violence) - under whose control the plan placed them. SACPAV is run by the Protective Security Co-ordination Centre in Canberra.. Their (SOG) main job on that and subsequent days was liaising with the media and attempting to shut up witnesses and suppress evidence.
There is MORE MUCH MUCH MORE !!
Now can you honestly say with a STRAIGHT FACE there is NO CONSPIRACY ?

      Great comment.
Is it true the morgue truck was not only unprecedented in Tasmania, but anywere elae in Australia as well?
It makes me wonder if there is a morgue truck of this capacity available anywhere in Australia even now, or if there was, when it was acquired.
Because if there wasn't, that's only further proof of a conspiracy since why the hell would state with the smallest population need one?

Mick C. I dont have the time or energy to waste on someone who will dismiss every argument I give as something like "its the government wanting you to believe that" or "your another sheep"
      So a few things
First he admitted he did it. Yes he was held in solitary for 6 months. But during the 6 months a evidence and a case was being mounted against him. Eventually his mother convinced him to admit guilty because it was so cut and dry and the victims had suffered enough without living it again.
With this coronial inquiry everyone bangs on about as not happening it did happen, the purpose is to determine the cause and circumstances of death. They are located in numerous books.
With the trial, there wasnt one because in Australian law when you plead guilty there is no need for one.
You say THE FACT that Bryant couldnt make so many head shots. Based on what. Where are your references. He was in a small area the majority of those that got head shots were the elderly who were slow or those that were frozen in shock. He was very close to the victims.
The fact that he owned 3 guns and many more were found, how many were found on scene. How do you know he had 3, did you go shopping with him when he bought them?
If your comment was an essay it would be classed as a failure because you are claiming facts without any sort of refrence
In documentarys survivors themselves say these conspiracy theories are bullshit, they saw what happened. Yet apperently a bunch of conspiracy theorists whose voice can only be heard on the net have a more valid opinion.
For the record, my information is from journal articles, newspapers I have read, documentrys I have seen with survivors and a book called born or bred and after port arthur.

For someone without the time or energy to waste on those who refuse to accept reality, you sure expended a lot of time and energy in your last comment.
But having said that, yes, I agree, it is best not to waste one's time and energy on those who refuse to examine reality.
I will note briefly, though, that Martin has the mental age of an 11-y-o and was declared unfit to plead in court under the Mental Health Act in 1994.
He had no trial, as you noted, but he was unfit to enter a plea in court at all, whether at a trial or a sentencting hearing. So why was he required to enter a plea in Novvember 1996?
And why was a lawyer or guardian not present at the police interview on 4/7/96, of which large sections are missing BTW?
      You wrote:

Dave Smith Martin held steadfast for six months to not being responsible for Port Arthur saying he was not even there that day. He entered a not guilty plea in September. His lawyer was then changed and several weeks later strangely his plea was also changed ----to guilty.
What could possibly change this stubborn Asperger's mind akin to an 11 year old's after six months of denying any involvement with Port Arthur? It is said emotional blackmail from his mother and sister and the promise of a tv. Not only had he been in solitary confinement for six months, but he was denied tv, radio and print media.

I agree, however they are not doing the same to positively identify him either. That’s just as much of a concern, no one actually outright states the person they know as Martin Bryant was the person they saw with their own eyes shooting people on that day, it gets implied and skirted around without a simple direct question, did you see Martin Bryant with a gun shooting people. Asked of those that knew him of coarse as the eyewitnesses that have identified Bryant had never seen or known him before, following the media circus having seen anyone with absurd long blonde hair on the day was Bryant for sure…initially I removed seeing witness account from at least one guy that had known Martin for years, I think he was injured and memory of it is a little vauge but think he was retired army or police or something (that could be wrong but do remember thinking a creditable personality) and he stated in no uncertain terms the person he observed that was said to be the gunman was not Martin, he did also say that he never witnessed this person firing a gun, had a rifle, yes blonde hair but didn’t see him shoot and it certainly wasn’t martin.
I’ve never looked for this guy saying that until now and don’t seem to find anything about it, makes me question what I remember about it but I know it was only a day or 2 after it happening and it wasn’t some big story like you get now on 60 minutes or the like analyzing every word to a predetermined outcome it was just an interveiwer for some news going around talking to people effected, that’s why I think he was injured as I think it was in the hospital, and I hesitate to say because it’s a little foggy but I’m sure he said something like yea once I was up to it and I turned the telly on I couldn’t beleive they were saying it was Martin because that’s not who I saw, I actually think he said, that’s not who shot me and I’ve known Martin for many years.
Details may be a little off and I would live to see that again to see how well my memory does serve, and would also love to see someone that knew Martin before the media told us all about him, that they absolutely positively saw the person they known for some time as the one shooting people on that day, put it all to bed surely.
The thing that keeps things being questioned and inconsistent about that day is the fact that there are so many things if proven to of occurred or not to of occurred that can just explain it plainly and simply and put all the theories to bed as rubbish, just remain unanswered, no one just comes out and justifies the simple things that makes it all go away. And the longer that goes on the stronger the belief the official version of that day is questionable.
So many things just left as unanswered, people that were there and involved in things that have been question never made publically confirm anything, let alone just come forward and put it to bed by giving their version of things willing to respond to any questions or things that don’t seem to add up, when things are truth fully just as they are it makes perfect sense and it’s sorted, unfortunately not doing that sort of, well it does give grounds for dishonesty and if one bit stinks the whole thing stinks.

    Plenty more proving his guilt
