The lalafel race could be inspired by the menehune! Menehune are a dwarflike being in Hawaiian mythology known for building various impressive structures overnight.
😲 OMG, this is such a good call! Had never heard of them, but that is very well spotted and I think a very solid theory. Honestly, considering the race, I would be very surprised if it wasn't! 😉👍 Thank you for that! I am quite sure you are right there!
Thank you so much, and I am really thrilled that it is useful and interesting, especially to lala players! That was the end goal, really. 😊 It is an interesting race and I am as always really impressed with what the lore team came up with!

Again, the artwork is just breathtakingly amazing, and I love it with every tiny inch of my being! (it's now my phone wallpaper so I can get instant serotonin every time I check my phone!!) And the lore was so well done, I learned A BUNCH of new things I didn't even know! 'o' So, so cool. I might be biased (definitely biased), but this is by far my favourite video of yours! X3 Also, 18:30 Can confirm. Literally the first thing I ever did when I got that basket was to sit in it. Fits perfectly! And thank you, 0:33 you are so incredibly sweet ;w;
Just this reaction alone made it absolutely worth the effort and time. ^___^ And I am really thrilled that you love it so much. :D She was a joy to draw (as you can see, she comes pretty willingly to the paper, this was literally the first draft I did for her!), and I am happy you allowed me to borrow her. :D ^___^ And it is alright to be biased! I am one of your quiet viewers, but I just wanted to say, that I absolutely love your lore videos 😍 Could you do Viera? They are my favourite race by far and I would love to know more about them ☺️
Hey NikaChan! :D I am so happy you are on board, and yes, I would love to do the Viera. I am hoping the next lorebook (which I am expecting to come out between now and the beginning of Endwalker) will have a bit more lore about them, because what we have right now is pretty sparse. =___= And I want to give them a proper video! :) I loved Fran in FFXII and I have been happy to see the Viera in the game, so I will absolutely be all over that topic as soon as I get enough material to do them justice. ^___^
My goodness this vid was so captivating!! My dad has been getting me into ffxiv and he showed me this video. I'm already addicted to your art and lore speak! 😍💖💖💖 I'll be watching more vids in the future!

That was such a lovely comment to log in to, I can't even words! ^^ First of all, thank you so much, and also give my deepest thanks to your father, who has to be one of the coolest in the world for getting his kids into FFXIV. ^^ And I am really happy you like my stuff and that you're on board for more! :D I am always so thrilled and giddy whenever I find likeminded lore-enjoyers! :D And I do really love talking about the awesome work the lore-team has done in this game, so it is phenomenal whenever I run into anyone who'd be interested in listening. :D Thank you for being awesome, and have a really lovely day! :D
Loved the video! I watch another up and coming lore channel but i also love your style of telling the lore while also drawing said character. Your avatar is adorable and you have such a great and soothing voice for this! You got my subscription. This sprout is turning into a lore junkie lol
Thank you! =^__^= And also really happy to hear that more lore channels are popping up. Do give me their name so that I can look them up and subscribe, because honestly I feel that a lot of lore-focused channels die because they garner a MUCH smaller audience than fun videos or reaction videos or what not. And nothing wrong with that, as lore is likely less interesting to the average player than memes and fun, but... :/ Well, it is sad when then people quit or entirely give up on the lore and do other stuff, because views won't come from just doing lore. And thank you for your compliment! ^__^ I can't take credit for the voice, that's just biology being kind, but I am happy you find it soothing and that you like the format! :D Welcome to the lore-junkie pile! ^__^ I, too, got so very gripped by the lore when I joined the game, and I am continually impressed by how deep and vast it is! ^___^
Who knew popotos were so interesting? :P Your videos continue to go from strength to strength Fay. I am continually amazed by how much effort goes into these, and it always seems to show. This Drawn to Lore was super charming, and it may have had the highest 'adorable per minute' count yet! If you're taking suggestions for new drawn to lore stuff, how about the Scions? We've been on so many adventures with them now, but I bet there's all sorts about them that isn't common knowledge that could make for a fun lore video. Whatever the topic though, I will be very much looking forward to the next!
You are too kind, but thank you! :D I feel like the effort shows in the animation work at least, and I am happy that this one has a high Adorable-per-minute count. XD Fantastic expression by the by. I am absolutely taking suggestions, and I think that'd be a cool idea to do a run-down of some less-than-common knolwedge about the Scions. :) So I will most certainly look into that! :D
Awesome video. Rolled lala when i stared in the summer this year. Love the little buggers. As I find out more of their lore, I just love them even more. And kick ass art...that was just as entertaining to watch as to hear the lore :)
Thank you so much! :D ^__^ I am so happy you liked it! I really feel the Lalas are so interesting, and so characterful! And I feel like the lore really does contribute to frame them as both playful and knowledgable/scheming at the same time. :D I am super happy you liked the format of it, too. ^^ And yeah, the drawing turned out pretty good, but then I also had a great character to draw! ^___^ Best of days to you!
Always enjoy your lore videos Fay, and with them being one of the rarer player races and the target of many jokes, this one has made me appreciate the Lalafell a bit more.
Thank you, Lyn. 😁 They are an interesting race that is often just reduced to the butt of the joke, but I do appreciate that the lore team tried to make them feel like actual people with an actual culture and history behind them. 😁 So if you feel like that then I feel like this video served and exceeded the hopes and wishes I had for it!👍
Came here from TBSkyen and wow, what a great channel this is! I really enjoy this comfy explanation of the lore and I like your avatar and its different expressions :) I'm glad I found my way here
Oh, I am super happy you did! ^___^ And even moreso that you found me through Skyen. He's a great person and has such great observations, I feel! It is great that the content is somehow getting out to people who like lore now! :D I was wondering if there just wasn't much if any interest in the lore of the game, which seemed sad, because the lore-team clearly took great care in hammering out some systems and stories that put meat on the world. ^___^ So thank you! And thank you for your kind words as well. I am glad you found your way here, too! :D
Came for the gil advice, stayed for the cool lore. You're voice is perfect for this kind of stuff, I like listening to various things while I grind and this was great.
Thank you so much, and I am super happy you found the lore and liked it. ^___^ I am very flattered that you'll take the stuff with you for grinds, so thank you for that. ^___^ Put a big smile on my face! :D Best of days to you!
I'm new to the game but I do have a silly headcanon about where my fave race came from! My theory is they share a common ancestor with Elezen (or perhaps are Elezen themselves?) that under Foster's rule went through insular dwarfism to adapt to their island homes!
That is a REALLY good hypothesis, because they both have long ears and excellent hearing. I do wonder what the Elezens encountered to make them that tall/lanky, but maybe they were closer to the original population, who knows? But yeah, biologically speaking, that'd make sense! :D I support this headcanon! :D One can hope the lore team will expand more on the proper origins of the races later on in the game. :D
@@FinalFay Ty, it just seems like it can't be a coincidence since most fantasy media smol races are presented as a cousin to the dwarves or tiny humans. Lalafell look a lot more elf-ish than any gnome or halfling, not just in the ears but also in their very fair appearance and fine features. While learning some of the relationships that the races have with each other would be cool, I hope they don't go too far with that as too much world building and spoiling the mysteries of the world is part of what ruined World of Warcraft and I wouldn't want that to happen to the new game I am falling in love with.
Awesome! :D Well, then I will find an angle into it! :D I know a few other creators who're working on similiar stuff right now, maybe I can find some way to do related stuff, but not risk doing it the same way. :) And if nothing else, those are awesome topics to talk about, so I am sure it's only good to have more material on the same topic! :D
If my wiki reading of the calamities is right, the empires can be summed up as "Mage fight. White Mages removed Fluid Aura from their hotbar; there were consequences."
I guess that works as a summary, but I also guess that in general that whole mess can be summarized to the last sentence alone and just copy paste it a few times. 😅There were consequences. A lot.
Lyn just linked me this and I must say concerning names... Then there's Januk Monkeydoodle who thrives on chaos! Muhahaha. But jokes aside very interesting and I just learned that Januk as a Dunesfolk can apparently trace his ancestory to mhach (unclear on spelling).
Thank you for giving it a look, Januk and I am happy you liked it! ^^ And he absolutely does seem like he might originate from that line of lalas, doesn't he? ^^;; Knowing what little I do of him, it seems fitting. ALL the MUAHAHAHAH!!!
She really is. 😊 And thank you so much. I also think the drawing turned out pretty good, but then I find that the drawing almost drew itself! 😅 Maybe lalafell are just more fun to draw?
Heh good to know I hit most of my barbarian lalas info on the head aside from her name. Might need to redo it eventually. I set out to make more of a gruff woman I just wish they had muscle sliders that gave abs.
Oh, that is really cool to hear! :D And hey, there can be reasons why the name is different! It is always possible to make up stories of how somebody got a race-wise 'odd' name, because nicknames or titles, or strangers who couldn't pronounce the real name and yadda yadda. ^__^ It is always possible, at least, so if you don't want to go all in and buy a name-change, then just consider that. ^___^ Also, yes, considering how fierce the Lala is, it is kinda sad that they don't get a muscle slider. ^___^ I can certainly see the teeny tiny tank trope work better with lotsa muscles! :D But in your mind's eye, I am sure they are there. :D
Hey Fay! The drawing turned out really nice! And well, since Im studying a major related to languages in Uni, I absolutely love the lore and naming conventions from the game, and you break it down so easy and well done :) You know, a friend told me and I noticed that he is right, from the races in game, the Lalafell players tend to stick to and take care of each other the most, and thats so wholesome! Also, I absolutely love FFT and FFXII, so you can guess how much I love Ivalice raids and content! If thats an acceptable Drawn to lore you can take this as my vote haha Have a great day and week!!
Oooh, that's cool! I don't think I remember you mentioning that you studied languages, but then I guess these lore videos are extra interesting. Because the Dev team clearly have some people in their group that cares a lot about language and culture and those little, subtle nods to where it hijacks itself unto culture and cultural tropes and phenomenons that we recognize and know of. :D I agree that the Lalafell players are generally very wholesome and have also been very kind whenever I've talked to them. It takes a special mindset to stick with a race that often doesn't get taken as seriously, or becomes the butt of the joke, and just take it in strides. :) And they sometimes have surprisingly awesome character design, too, which goes unnoticed because it is just easier to spot on a tall billboard like an Elezen than a Lalafell. And ooh, that'd maybe be great to summarize some of the Ivalice stuff, especially since it is so relevant to Bozja and the war on that front, and seeing how it hasn't gotten the MSQ level of attention or content, it is sometimes easy to lose track of what happened when, with whom, from what or where even are we at all!? O__o So, yeah, I'll look into that. :D As good a Drawn to Lore topic as any! ^^ Thanks for the comment and to you too. :D
Thank you! :D I hope it'll keep you well company, and that the dumb Lyon note will drop! I myself have been recruited into the Dyunbu Execution Squad, helping out a good friend with getting that last fieldnote. ^___^ It can be unforgiving, so I hope that this'll be the lucky charm. ^___^ Best of luck to you! :D
@@FinalFay that is so sweet of you Fay, thank you! :D And best of luck to your farming endeavors too! ^-^ Also, after finishing your video, I gotta say the way you animate your avatar is always so cool, your Illustrator work is amazing! As always, great video! ^^ And I'd love to see a lore video on Mhach, the War of the Magi with its utilization of voidsent and the 13th shard (maybe in relation to Endwalker since it seems to be heavily connected).
That does seem to be very relevant to the expansion, yes, so you can absolutely convince me to do that. 👍😁 Also, thank you for the praise on the animation and art. I am trying to learn how to do this and do it smart, but I feel like it is slowly getting more and more solid. 😁 And I am so happy the effort shows!! 😊
Thank you so much and I am really thrilled you learned something too. 😁 The lore team of this game has done such a great job at making the world feel big and lore filled and coherent, so it feels good to convey a little bit of that. 😊😁👍
I understand that worry. ^^ My lore videos are quite frankly doing terrible, and I guess that's to be expected. ^___^ Lore in general is not all that interesting or relevant to most people. I first started the channel because I needed to explain Mutamix to some friends. Then I wondered if I could/should upload more, and I wanted that content to be lore, if anything. Because that was what I was lacking the most out of the YT stuff available at the time. I was inspired by other great lore creators like Ethys and Sync Weaver, but I wanted to give it my own spin and not do exactly what they have done, so I ended up doing these kinds of videos instead. :) And these are the videos I love the most to do. Not, maybe, the ones I am proudest of, but the ones I love the most. So while UA-cam is telling me to pay attention to my analytics and is nudging me to stop doing stuff that doesn't do well, I won't stop making these. And yes, I know this will kill my channel in the algorithm, but this was only ever meant as a hobby channel with content I would've liked to have found myself when I was looking on YT. So, the TL:DR is: I won't stop making these. They are where I gain my creative energy. :) I hope this set your mind at ease. Have a great day, and thank you for your sweet comment. :) It does warm to hear that those who do watch them appreciate them.
Thank you, and I agree that they are adorable and interesting! 😁 All jokes and memes aside, the dev team did what they could to make them feel meaningful and interesting!
If there's one thing I've noticed about people who play female Lalafels and main a tank job, specifically Dark Knight, is that they're completely psychotic and really, really good at their job.
That is.... oddly specific and I will absolutely take your word for it. ^^;; But yeah, most lala tanks I have seen, also known as teeny tiny tanks in my FC, have been pretty damn decent tanks! ... Or maybe they just don't get hit as much as the big barn-yard built Hrothgar tank or the brick-wall Roegadude? Who knows! :D
Wow! You're getting so good with the pen tool on Illustrator, Fay! You've inspired me to want to illustrate/vectorize my doodles and drawings as well! :)
Oh! I am so happy to hear that! It is actually not at all that bad, once you get the hang of it! :D It can seem a bit fiddly, and sometimes I end up with the "Stop the line, just drop the line, just stop putting down more anchor points, dammit, I wanna close the line!!!"-problem, which I think is known to a lot of people using pen tools like that. ^^;; But if you give it enough time to win you over, the program can do LOTS of fun stuff, and it is really great to work with! Just takes a while to get the hang of, but as you can see, it is something that can be trained. ^^ I also feel a lot more confident in the stuff I do now than what I did a year ago. ^^ So go for it! :D I hope it'll work out for you, too! :D I will be cheering you on! :D
Thank you so much! It makes my day to know that other people also enjoy them. ^^ I mostly made them for myself, because I was really lacking this when I found the game, but I am always so thrilled whenever somebody finds my stuff and likes the lore-bits! :D I really appreciate all the love the developers put into the game. ^^ Like I said in another comment to yours, it makes the world feel richer or deeper than what we're outright told in direct dialogue! :D
Hmm, that's a great thought. *ponders* I suppose they aren't terribly aerodynamic, but then again, self-tossing must clearly be a thing, right? I'd certainly be well and truly intimidated if there was a lalagoon pelting towards me with a pointy end! XD
Awww! :D It warms my heart and puts a great, big, dumb smile on my face to know that it brightened your morning. :D Thank you for giving it a watch and for telling me. :D
Ancient Lalafellin (pre Eorzea) culture seems to be a derivative of real-world Polynesian cultures. Also, I think the Dunefolk eyes are just an extra thin layer of iris that grows around the pupil, nothing too special or aetherical. Good vid though, you have a pleasant speaking voice.
I think that seems very likely, yes! Would those be the menehune that Octopusbell mentioned, or is that something else entirely? ^^;; I will happily admit that my knowledge on that is absolutely lacking. ^^ But I love that the lore team has taken established cultures and taken inspiration in them! :D It makes so much sense and it works really well to create a full-feeling world. :) And that makes sense with the iris. Thank you for the compliment, and I am really happy you enjoyed the video. :) Have a really lovely evening!
Thank you so much, and lalafell are adorable, so I can fully see why they are addictive! ❤️😊 I have found myself making many Elezens, and it took me 9 hours plus a bit to get to find another design for an alt that wasn't Elezen, so I guess you just find yourself a race you relate to and get addicted. 😅 I know I do at least. 😁
Sadly not at this point, but I am really flattered by your question. :) I am working towards making more time for my hobbies, so hopefully that'll pay off and I'll be able to make commissions before summer. But I make no guarantees. I'll likely make an update here on the channel page if I do. :) But thank you once again for your interest. :D Means a lot to me. ^^
@@FinalFay Well! Finding artists to commission is hard, and I always am looking for good artists who would be willing to sell their services to someone who may be a decent writer but lacks any forrm of artistic talent in the form of drawing, since I have trouble with decent stick figures XD
Super thrilled that you liked it. :D I really love the lore of this game and the effort the devs took to put things together in a manner that made for a good world or a great story! :D It might not be so relevant for understanding the MSQ, but little lore bits like the racial backgrounds or cultural differences or what not really add something, I feel. :D Thank you for giving it a watch and have a really lovely day! :D
Awww, :3 Don't feel sad! Think about it as you giving me the joy of logging in to find a comment to respond to on another day than the peak days of the upload? :D

@@FinalFay I dont really know that many lore content creators... Ethys Asher and one other group but I havent seen them cover lalafell in specific...
Well in that case, I will dive deeper into lalaland, because honestly they play such a big role in how Eorzea was shaped and how the world works. 😊👍
@@FinalFay Cant wait :)
Nice video, lovely drawing, and potato is a celebrity! 🥔
Also, yes, considering how fierce the Lala is, it is kinda sad that they don't get a muscle slider. ^___^ I can certainly see the teeny tiny tank trope work better with lotsa muscles! :D But in your mind's eye, I am sure they are there. :D
Hey Fay! The drawing turned out really nice!
And well, since Im studying a major related to languages in Uni, I absolutely love the lore and naming conventions from the game, and you break it down so easy and well done :)
You know, a friend told me and I noticed that he is right, from the races in game, the Lalafell players tend to stick to and take care of each other the most, and thats so wholesome!
Also, I absolutely love FFT and FFXII, so you can guess how much I love Ivalice raids and content! If thats an acceptable Drawn to lore you can take this as my vote haha
Have a great day and week!!
I agree that the Lalafell players are generally very wholesome and have also been very kind whenever I've talked to them.
Thanks for the comment and to you too. :D
Lala-lobbing, Eozrean version of South Park's "Kick the Baby".
*chuckles* I think more of Tolkien and Dwarf tossing, but that totally works, too! XD
Perfect, something to listen to while having to run castrum over and over again for the dumb Lyon field notes! ^^'
Also, after finishing your video, I gotta say the way you animate your avatar is always so cool, your Illustrator work is amazing! As always, great video! ^^
And I'd love to see a lore video on Mhach, the War of the Magi with its utilization of voidsent and the 13th shard (maybe in relation to Endwalker since it seems to be heavily connected).
Loved this! Please make one for Viera
Lovely video. Happy to learn some interesting facts about lalas 😊
Thank you so much and I am really thrilled you learned something too. 😁 The lore team of this game has done such a great job at making the world feel big and lore filled and coherent, so it feels good to convey a little bit of that. 😊😁👍
I worry about this series since it doesn't get as many views as some of your other content but I really enjoy it and hope you keep making more.
And these are the videos I love the most to do.
Great vid as usual, i love lalafells
Oh! I am so happy to hear that! It is actually not at all that bad, once you get the hang of it! :D It can seem a bit fiddly, and sometimes I end up with the "Stop the line, just drop the line, just stop putting down more anchor points, dammit, I wanna close the line!!!"-problem, which I think is known to a lot of people using pen tools like that. ^^;;
But if you give it enough time to win you over, the program can do LOTS of fun stuff, and it is really great to work with! Just takes a while to get the hang of, but as you can see, it is something that can be trained. ^^ I also feel a lot more confident in the stuff I do now than what I did a year ago. ^^
So go for it! :D I hope it'll work out for you, too! :D I will be cheering you on! :D
I love these lore videos so far. =)
So Lala tossing is a thing....does that make Lala dragoons the best javelins around?
Hmm, that's a great thought. *ponders* I suppose they aren't terribly aerodynamic, but then again, self-tossing must clearly be a thing, right? I'd certainly be well and truly intimidated if there was a lalagoon pelting towards me with a pointy end! XD
My little Potato is called Mameme Mame ^_^, because her meme's maim >_>
That is a fantastic lala name! XD And quite fun reasoning, too! :D ^___^ Made me smile reading it!
So I wake up this morning and see a new FinalFay video. *fist pump* yes!
:) Have a really lovely evening!
love your vids so much!
Thank you so much! :D It makes me so happy to hear that you're enjoying them so. ^^ Have a wonderful day. :)
I love these thxs for info lalafell for life not happy any other races 😜😍😘
Thank you so much, and lalafell are adorable, so I can fully see why they are addictive! ❤️😊 I have found myself making many Elezens, and it took me 9 hours plus a bit to get to find another design for an alt that wasn't Elezen, so I guess you just find yourself a race you relate to and get addicted. 😅 I know I do at least. 😁
Can one commission your art? If so, where?
Great video!
Thank you very much. :) Kind of you to say so. :)
Yeyyy another video
You are great fay
Thank you so much! It always makes me sit here with a big, dumb smile on my face to know that people are so happy to see these. ^___^
Like the vid. Thanks for the lore.
tfw u dont log in for one day and miss a fay video ;_; sad
Awww, :3 Don't feel sad! Think about it as you giving me the joy of logging in to find a comment to respond to on another day than the peak days of the upload? :D
@@FinalFay ^o^ now thats a whole different story! ill enjoy some dinner to some good ol' drawn to lore :3

They are also very loveable! 😊 I really adore them, too!
@@FinalFay you should see Rich's clip. He almost died of happiness surrounded by lalafells
