You missed the most import fact: you are not just buying camera body. Without a lens, you cannot shoot. also very strange point on battery. A7c easily double battery life of R8.
Honestly, if you are using it for video, both cameras will be powered with a usb-c powerbank, keep the powerbank in your pocket Photography alone doesn't use much power.
Easy, at least for me. R8, it’s a 4K, 60fps, 10bit capable cámara below $2K price point. I’m not into Photography that much, so that video feature is a win. I’ve liked Sony Mirrorless for the last years over Canon or Nikon. The thing is 4K, 60fps, 10bit video is only available for Sony cameras with a $4K price tag.
Depends on what you need and what you already have and what you plan to do with it. For someone starting out (or who wants to travel light), the kit lens is an excellent place to get your feet wet for 200 more dollars...especially for video since it's very light and has IS. Thanks for watching.
It's me! I think it is really important to understand that for the most part all the brands do mostly the same job these days. Varying here and there. But heat is heat. The baseline for collective quality is there not matter what you pick. Advice to new shooters is the same I have for car buyers. RENT IT FOR A WEEK BEFORE SPENDING FIVE FIGURES ON IT.
Yeah, that's really good advice. Irony is I think the reason people don't do it is because it costs so much...but not nearly as much as making the wrong decision, am I right?
@@babybackmaniacleftovers A hundred bucks (or even 500) to see if spending 5000 or even 50000 is worth it. People just have a hard time conceptualizing that. We are not the most astute long term thinkers 😄

This is wrong comparison all together Mr Microwave! Sad facts about Sony's advancement in new cameras has invariably been lagging behind competition in key areas & also has been incremental so far , namely Hybrid but shortfalls & flaws in key areas. To justify this , have a look at CANON R8 or R6 ii, both would ring round Sony's camera any day and cheaper too. Just try R8. It is superior in every department.
Fantastic video!! I can agree with either camera. The Canon will be like a puppy you love, the Sony will be like a pet alligator :) Which one has the sharper teeth, which can protect your house, which can keep out strangers, which is more fierce? Better pictures - Sony Sharper pictures - Sony Better video - Sony Better battery - Sony More features - Sony Acceptable everything - Canon More pleasing everything - Canon More huggable everything- Canon Thumbs up on the video BTW 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
True...in fact, missing a LOT of important points, but this was focusing on the stuff important to me in the use case I bought the camera for. For what I'm going to be doing with it, the lens choices I need already exist. I really wish they had a 20mm f1.8 though like Sony though.
😂😂 Ernie is so stubborn!! Ecosystem is the key point. When I got back into making videos. I switched from my Canon rebel 1080p to a Sony a6400 for the 4k 30fps. If Canon would have had a better option at the time unlike the M50 that was cripple hammered with the autofocus on 4K, Ernie and I would not be arguing because I never would have went to Sony. I still think the autofocus is better on Sony but the color science is not as robust. The stabilization stinks but yes 90% of my shots are on rack system or a dust collecting R2 gimbal. 😅😂 Great review and I would skip the a7c and go with the ZV-E1. Waaaay more positive features. 🎉
love my R8! R8/RF 50mm 1.8f has been a great featherweight backup to my R5/RF 70-200mm f2.8!

comparing the two, canon is made of plastic while sony is just flat paper 😅

Enjoyed this video... as much for the camera vs camera as for your opinions on brand vs brand. Look forward to more content.
Thank you, Jim. I appreciate that. Have a nice evening.
Why did you buy the R8 with the kit lens? Is it better to buy it only the body and adapt EF mount lenses?

Hmm R8 released date 2023. A7c release date 2019? Common, what kind of comparison is this? Why don't you compare A7C to Canon RP?
Because that's not what he asked. This was a reply to a comment.
Sony butthurt fanboy hahaha

Don't forget, it doesn't matter what camera you have - Canon or Nikon, as long as it's Canon 😀.
@@Sergey_Sergeev I'm actually not a fan of Canon. I was shooting Canon long time ago, but after trying their new R cameras I didn't like them.

Shhhhhhh. Lol ADHD is a struggle 😂

These jokes are so out of pocket but I love it haha.
A7C is light as paper
lol
its amazed me when I got mine. was about the same weight as my GX9 M43 mount, while being full frame. 🤯
So the R8 pisses this comparison.
