I live in zone 7b. Bought my 750 tulips (only mid - late ones) from Colorblends & pre chilled them in my fridge from October til planing them December 13. Were planted 5 " deep in a front West facing full sun bed and starting emerging Jan 1. So I put about 2" of mulch over them since we now have below freezing temps for the next few weeks. I think I need to plant them deeper next year, if I do, since my front beds get full sun and our weather is so unpredictable. I LOVE tulips but it's getting really frustrating with the expense and labor planting them and then come up too soon. Seriously, emerging after only 2 weeks in the ground is just crazy to me.
I can't wait until they bloom. We can't grow them in Fl & I so love them. Please do a complete ture when they bloom, their going to be amazing & we want to see the beauty.
Good morning, Jenny! Hoping that Creekside does ok in the coming snow/ice. 🥶 Not enjoying this cold, but it's good to get out into the sunshine just to do a few chores 🥰
Good morning! We are hoping that it does snow 😆. Our family so enjoys having a good snow at least once a year, and last year we never even got the hint of snow.
Yes, we enjoyed snow in our younger years in Michigan and Wisconsin. Lots of great cross-country skiing memories, but the first thing we sold when we decided to move to NC was the snow blower! ❄️
I’ll enjoy your display in Spring; I haven’t planted tulips in many years as they are a deer buffet here in North West Michigan, zone 6. Deer deterrents work great on other plants in my garden, but the tulips just don’t make it to bloom time.
Thank you for all you share! Love seeing more tulips go in the ground, can’t wait to see them bloom. I’m also in NC zone 8, and finding you over the last year has been so inspiring to me! Even my young children have seen your videos and when we visit our local garden center (we are in a different city) they ask if Jenny is going be there. 😂 one day we will visit creekside! Thank you for all you share ❤
We are in our Florida home for the winter. Only have a balcony here. Only my 2 orchards travel with us. Our landscape helper waters our house plants while we are gone. Some don’t survive, but that’s life. Plants I have here are only for the winter.
Good snowy and icy cold morning from Kentucky! Lol Ms. Jenny i just love love the mom look you gave Jackson when he raked the dirt the wrong way!😅 😅😅😅😅😅😂 i have 3 sons and have gave them all that look!
Good morning from SE PA!! Can you please tell us how you like your fingerless gloves and what is the material they are made from. I would love to get a pair for the cooler Spring and Fall gardening days. Thank You.
I recently bought some tulips, daffodils, and a wide variety of alliums from Lidels grocery store in DC and hurried to plant them before the snow. ( Your pink auger is really a game changer. LOVE IT!!👍❤️💚🥰) Question: If the bulbs did not get the recommended chill hours, will I have to wait until next spring to get blooms in zone 7? And do squirrels dig up your tulips?
She had a small procedure at the vet that required stitches. We actually went this afternoon and got them out, and she is so glad to be rid of her donut!
Hi Jenny and Meghan - I was always taught that bulbs have all the energy they need to grow beautifully in one season so is it necessary to add BioTone? Do you leave your tulips in the ground to come back year after year? I'm in 7b and they don't always come back reliably.
They do have the energy they need, but it is always helpful to encourage strong root growth which is what Bio-tone does. Yes, tulips are annuals for us.
If it helps, I am not tired of seeing y'all plant bulbs. I am looking forward to the display of blooms in the spring!
Thank you❣️

It’s amazing how we mamas perfect that look 😂
Looks like you could use some stepping stones from the grass to the steps.
We are going to nestle some flagstone in the mulch. It's on the very long to-do list! 😉
Good morning from Kernersville, NC.
I love tulips in spring, reminds me of my mother. I can’t have them, All the deer would just mow them down.

They were a Christmas gift so I don't have those details, but I do love them!

Can’t wait. What do you do about the squirrels?
Hi y'all, I must of missed it, but what happened to Brena?why is she warring the cone of shame????
She had a small procedure at the vet that required stitches. We actually went this afternoon and got them out, and she is so glad to be rid of her donut!
Going to be a beautiful spring!!! I’m surprised you don’t plant some in pots for your retail garden center…🌷💐
None in containers, just 3k in the landscape at the garden center 😉
I am late in the game this year Jenny as well. Hopefully I can get my 1k tulips in the ground this weekend.
It felt great to get these last tulips in the ground! We've planted right at 10k bulbs this early winter - spring is going to be fabulous 💐

How come Brinna (sp) has a purple collar on?
She had a procedure at the vet's office and had to have 3 stitches. The donut keeps her from reaching the spot.
