Thank you so much Maggie ☺️ I agree! I think embossing them takes then up a level. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment ☺️
Lovely cards Laura, really pretty results. I just thought I'd mention though, that vellum isn't a type of plastic. It was traditionally made from calf skin but modern vellum is a type of paper made from cotton & wood pulp or cellulose. Tip to prevent warping, preheat your heat gun before melting the embossing powder then keep it moving so it heats evenly and doesn't get too hot in any one area, (that's why it didn't warp so much she you put something behind it absorbing the heat and dispersing it more evenly. Also; If the adhesive still feels sticky after using the building flakes over it, you can use an anti-static pad or dust a little bit of talc or corn starch over it. 😊
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment ☺️ so glad you liked the finished cards. Yes most vellum isn't plastic but I believe the one I have is plasticised rather than proper vellum. I don't have any issues with my gilding flakes being sticky once the panel is coverer. I did have a commenter ask about that and I think it would occur if you haven't covered the panel sufficiently and missed areas and depending on the double sided sheets you use. I've had no issue with the Tonic ones though. Thanks for the tips 🙂
You’ve made me want to use the gilding powder I’ve had for over 10 years and only used once. I also want to get the square dies with the heart design as I didn’t realise they had that design on them especially for anniversary cards. I live on an island with absolutely no craft stores so everything has to be ordered online which means I never know the quality of anything until it arrives 😮 I have pressed the subscribe button. 😊
Fantastic techniques! Who knew that using an embossing folder would make that big of a difference on the guilding flakes. 🤔 I tend to use my embossing folders for full backgrounds. Never on the smaller die cuts but that will definitely be changing now. Most vellum is not made from plastic. It is commonly made from oiled sheets of paper. Originally it was made from stretched calf skin but that process is extremely expensive and labor intensive.
Thank you so much for watching Holly! So glad you enjoyed the technique and so glad you're going to have a go. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment too! Yes some vellum is not made from plastic however the vellum I have is plasticised and can warp badly it heated too long. 🙂
Wow those cards are absolutely stunning!! That's a great idea to emboss your die cuts, I'm going to have to try that! I love everything about the cards! 😍
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment ☺️ I really appreciate it ☺️ so glad you enjoyed it and so pleased you're going to give it a go! ☺️
New subbie here. I enjoyed the breezy voice over with the sped up video. Adore both cards. You used embossing folders with gilding flakes and I'm in love. The gold card did steal my heart though.

Absolutely gorgeous! Love how there is so much texture and dimension yet keeping it clean and classy ❤😊 I have also never witnessed such clean pour backs of embossing powder, you really are nailing this art form lol. Two very big thumbs up. With the skills to make such gorgeous cards, no longer the need to pay exorbitant costs at the shops for just one card either! #winning 😊😊

I've had this issue multiple times and have taken to covering my gilded diecuts with glue to seal them, but if you have a better method, I would love to know what it is. Thank you again for the great video!
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment ☺️ I personally haven't had that issue but that's a great way to seal it to stop that if you do. I would imagine it depends on the adhesive sheets you are using. Perhaps if the adhesive isn't very strong that can cause the flakes to come off. Interesting use of gilding flakes with adhesive sheets. I have a similar looking product called shaved ice by Stampendous. Can it be used in the same way? Can it be tinted?

Auto correct changed gilding flakes to building flakes!😕😅
I've used this technique quite a few times. The results are lovely, BUT.. after going through the embossing folder, the die cuts are tacky. No amount of drying time gets rid of the tackiness. It's as if the pressure of the embossing folder going through my machine has forced the glue through the gilding flakes. Has anyone had a similar experience?
