I really do enjoy gen 1 a lot, even tho it can be super frustrating at times and I definitely understand why people don’t like going back to replay them.
Ive never gone beyond Gen 1, 2 and for gen 3 only FireRed / LeafGreen and stopped there. Like you i often have the urge to replay one of these classic titles and recently my favorites are both romhacks for Crystal done in two entirely different ways. Crystal Clear is amazing due to its open world with your choice in start town and free choice in starter pokemon. The trainers and gyms are scaling in power depending on howfar you progressed and this solves the main issue in Crystal the powercurve between gym 5-6-7. Crystal Clear holds on to the style and visuals of classic Crystal while making several gameplay changes to it. Crystal Advance is Crystal ported for GBA its style and visuals are much like FireRed and my favorite feature is how it updated the combat system for the split of physical elemental moves and special elemental moves such are Aqua Tail or Surf.
@@Felix_the_Fox Thank you and i honestly considered that already but certainly will now, ive seen several vids about it but havent started it as i havent wrapped up the latest play of Crystal Clear yet. Red and Blue are what started it all and youve translated your passion for the game quite well here appreciated it a lot =D
never thought i'd like to see a gen 1 apreciation video but this is really nice

I would also recommend checking out Crystal legacy! It’s a rom hack created by a UA-camr.

The ending of this video is kinda abrupt. It could use an outro.
