2 fingers of this neat with a good cigar is a great way to unwind at the end of a long day. Being in Tennessee I can say I am fortunate to have plenty of access to great Kentucky bourbons at pretty decent prices.
Thanks for reviewing this. I bought one a while back. In West Virginia it's about $50 U.S. It had lots and lots of flavor and on the nose . Very enjoyable.
Rare Breed wasn't my first quality whiskey experience but third at a young age with the most a long lasting impact. Just bought my first bottle today after not having it for a decade. The first in my whiskey collection to be.
Just picked up this bottle today after watching a very old video from Horst as well as a few others. It's my first barrel strength so quite intense to what I'm use to but man, is it delicious!
I'm glad to see you guys get some good bourbons like this. Most of the other bourbon & rye reviews I've seen you do are for what are generally considered very low-end, bottom shelf varieties in the US. On the other hand, you get to taste some Scotches I've never seen in stores around here.
damn! You can still find it for under $40 in US. US and Australia need to rework some trade agreements, I've heard good things about Tazmanian single malts but all that I see are real pricy here.
The issue is with the Australian government. The tax the hell out of alcohol. $40 is the price we pay for regular Jim beam white label over here. But even that has been watered down to 37% abv ( 74 proof ). We get ripped off big time. Yes we have some great Australian whiskey but the same issue with the tax applies and it still works out better value to buy imported products even with the outrageous price.
@@DarkSalmonz we get taxed $85 for every 1 litre of pure alcohol (so a litre of 50 percent alcohol will be taxed $42.25). This bottle would actually be about $50~ here without tax.
I would like to buy a bottle of whiskey with the intention of consuming it neat - as an evening drink. I don't drink alcohol, however, 1 glass with a couple sips may be enjoyed. Would the Wild Turkey 101 or the Wild Turkey (0 years) be a good bet? Thanks in advance.
Dear Ron, You definitely should taste different types of spirits before buying. Maybe, try 2-3 bourbons in the nearest bar and than buy the bottle of one you'd like :)
My friend, I am in China. Now the cheapest Wild Turkey RB costs 318 RMB, which is equivalent to 44 USD converted into USD. If you buy it at the official flagship store in Kimbali, it can reach up to 65 USD. The minimum price for small batches of Four Roses is 287 RMB, which is equivalent to 40 USD, and the maximum purchase price at the Kirin official store is 54 USD. The minimum price for a single barrel of Four Roses is 348 RMB, which is equivalent to 48 USD, and the highest price is 76 USD in the official flagship store.😭😭

The magical about this Turkey is that it is a very good swimmer, no bitterness in water.
Flavourful and round balanced.
Great comment. So many whiskeys (and rums) simply fall apart with water.
One of my favorites and preferred over the 101
For some reason it is almost twice the price ;)
Wild Turkey Rare Breed is one of the most exquisite bourbons on the market. Beware though, it could be a bit much for the beginner.
I couldn’t agree more, one of my favorites.. full bodied on the nose and palette, in a blind you’d never guess this is a $50.00 bottle

Always have a little Turkey at Thanksgiving time.
I got this as a wedding gift I’ve never had any wild turkey and I thought this would floor me but it’s insanely smooth
the 101 and this are both amazing whiskeys highly recommend

This one and the 101 are just so good

Bloody good whiskey. But at almost $100 a bottle in Australia it’s a little to expensive to drink all the time.

@@dum760 Thanks for info! Also Terry > Shulk :)
I just paid $65 + tax [$72]. Slightly higher than average because in a small town with limited retailers.
Best enjoyed around a fire after a good day of fishing. Garnish with a nice sunset. Pairs well with Busch beer and county music 👌
Which county?
@@skullkid112 Oops! *country lol
David S haha I was just about to say the county down perhaps ;)
Great review. I'm off to the store to get one..

More Bourbon tastings!
If 101 is 4 stroke, Rare breed is 2 stroke
this one to me, oddly, tastes very similar to the redbreast 12 cask strength
Ben, I commend you for trying it without adding water first. Every whiskey should be tasted at full strength before being diluted.
And maybe not swish it around like it's Listerine.
Anyone used to sub-90 proof Scotch will be taken aback by American barrel strength whiskies. 116+ proof takes some getting used to.
So strong alcohol content
I have a scar on my hand caused by this stuff
You’ve got to tell the story
I’m intrigued
The Cornerstone Rye is great but VERY pricey...
Excellent whiskey
Wondering, is this spirit color added ?.
Please clarify.
Thanks.
Straight bourbon cannot have color or anything else added except water.
no color added by United States law in any product classified as "bourbon." In other words, no.
Thanks for clarification.
Realy like this good swimmer Turkey !
Cheers.
€35 for Wild Turkey Rare Breed? I know this video is a few years old, but that's cheap.
Guys, why I can get this with only 20 USD in China? and 40 USD for four roses small batch. Very strange.
Communism......
Maybe it's fake turkey
The Donger!!!

Unfortunately UK - 45£
101 is way better...this rare breed will beat you up lol
Turn the volume down when you’re tasting… it’s awkward
