Thank you for this, really. I grew up in Memphis, have since moved away, and haven’t been to the Pink Palace in some time, so it was nice to relive my childhood for a bit.
My favorite museum...I went on several field trips there while in school in the early 70s. I still go every so often. The planetarium is amazing.
@ihatescreennames89 The circus was operational last time I went. It's amazing.
I grew up in a suburb outside Memphis. This is one of my favorite museums. Many field trips and birthdays were spent here and I’m so happy to see you visited it.
Those Civil War displays were my favorites when we went to the Pink Palace on field trips growing up. Glad to see they’re still there!
When I heard the name Pink Palace I think of Coraline.
Same
That's such a cool place to visit! Memphis has a lot to see and do! Plus eat. I love Central BBQ!
901
dont let my city fool you lol l
Worked at this museum for years down in the IMAX theater. Best job I ever had.
I went to the Pink Palace in the late 1980s on a field trip. I don't remember any of the exhibits from back then. However in the video room, we got to have live video with a submarine exploring the just-discovered Titanic wreckage. My classmates were able to ask the captain questions. It was quite amazing technology for the 80s.
Loud wailing from that dinosaur haha!
"Over here we have a wonderful quilt!" Those grannies are on to you! lol
I can't help it now - every time Jacob makes a point to speak nice about quilts, I start laughing.
Loved the video, but a bit disappointed that it wasn't pink.
The facade is pink Georgian marble.
Why does "pink palace" sound like a brothel? 😂🤣😂
So Memphis. Lol
It's what a friend of mine used to call her bits PMSL :D
Thank you so much! It's been a while since we visited, but The Pink Palace has been my favorite museum so far! Oh, the planetarium was great, too.
I've been to the pink palace about 6-7 times on field trips as a person who stays in Memphis TN and i can say it's a good Museum
We love our big old museum
Yes the fossil slab is actually from Frankston MS. Between Bonneville and Baldwin MS. I lived about 6 miles from it. My kids and I have been to pink palace and loved it . will be back.
I went there on field trips many times as a kid. Lol
Um, the fire grenade is for putting fires out, not starting them xD
You beat me to it.
Tactical Hotdog my mistake, ha!
Born and raised in West TN. You are doing a great job of featuring the area. Thank you!
Hi!
Big fan of the channel, love seeing your walk arounds and tours!
Fun fact for you, the sound of the Tyrannosaurus that you can hear throughout little parts of the video as well as when you mention “That is one angry dinosaur”, it’s from a BBC programme called Walking With Dinosaurs, a 90s informative programme based on some theoretical knowledge. The sound specifically comes from a scene where two Tyrannosaur are mating! Interesting why they used that particular sound considering there are hundreds throughout the episode!
"It's so difficult to get into the head of a chicken and then fool them." I was cracking up lol always the best videos for a simple laugh
Great Video as always Jacob. I love seeing all these attractions with interesting history behind it. Especially when taxidermy is involved!
Wow the founder of Piggy Wiggly's house is pink. Epic. I remember in the 80s my mom would take me to piggy wiggly and we'd get all kinds of fun junk. Lol especially the iron on patches and photos for tshirts. They had all kinds of cool 80s singers and kids stuff like Jem and all that aesthetic. They had great junk food and just great odds and end.
I are fineee
Soooooooo enjoyed this Jacob !!! I've ALWAYS loved your descriptions of things. Thanks so much for taking us along.🙂👍🐦🦅🦆🦚🦢🦉
We had one down from where I currently live. I remember going with my grandmother
They moved the shrunken head! It used to be on its own pedestal with a recipe on how to make them.
"So difficult to get into the head of a chicken" ❤❤lol!
Very cool museum, I will have to try to get to see it .
Cool video , good job . Mike Espo .
Wow! There's so much to see here :) Who would have thought with a name like Pink Palace. Great video :)
We used to have some of those glass eggs that we put in our chickens' nests.
The bird is the word lol. What a nice little museum, thank you for sharing your experiences with us!
Very interesting museum. Great vlog.
A fire Grenade was the old version of a fire extinguisher, you took the jar of chemical and tossed it at the fire upon breaking it spread the chemical to put out the fire
what he said
I was confused at first as to why all the mannequins had pink hair. I then realised its the pink palace museum. Blonde moment much 😂😂😂😂
Ringling Brothers used to have their parade themed to nursery rhymes. If you watch the old move The Greatest Show on Earth you get to see a lot of the actual wagons and floats themed to that. It was something that everyone all over knew and could relate to in the golden age of the circus.
This place looks awesome! I love the piggly wiggly!!! We don't have one I live up north but it always sounded cute. I love that they have it set up how it used to be!
CHAOS REIGNS, i lol'd. could be a t-shirt with a hissing possum.
This is a verry interesting museum. Thank you for a perfect giding Jacob .
THis place is awesome! I've been going here since I was born. I even got to meet Ginnifer Goodwin here once.
I've been to The Pink Palace. Loved the Piggly Wiggly museum!
I once heard that a Piggly Wiggly store was robbed by Bonnie and Clyde.
Awesome. I love the owl taxidermy!
Great museum. Back in the early to mid 1980's when I visited a cousin in AL, that is when I first heard of a Piggly Wiggly.
Fun fact Jacob in the early 90s I played in a band called rabid possum we were the marsupials from hell
it would be a seriously mental situation if i woke up in that place at night.
awesome, this is a cool museum. Glad you got a chance to explore the hometown a bit more this time around.
Good one Jacob 😎👍🏻
8/10. Needs more birds.
Not too crazy about Canada being replaced but again I guess living in a palace is not so bad. Looks like an average museum from back when. Some awesome displays. Thanks for the tour. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
finally, my city is on youtube lol Memphis here !!!!
1:17 Elvis sighting!!
I MUST GO NOT ONLY BECAUSE ITS MY FAVORITE COLOR BUT BECAUSE ITS LOOK AWSOME AS HECK
Great video!! Thanks so much Jacob!! Appreciate you!
For a moment there I thought that noise coming from the dinosaur was someone straining on the toilet 3:40
Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How can you forget the endoplasmic reticulum inside the cell?
Love this vlog! Thank you!
I went to this museum with some friends years ago. All I remember about it is that some kid in my party wanted to touch everything. She probably would of have been better off in the children's museum. I liked it too. It's usually for older kids. I love that Piggly Wiggly store. That's what grocery stores used to be like. Now grocery stores are big and crowded. You can't find anything in a grocery store now. Back then we had the necessities. And the creator of Kellogg's corn flakes believed in euthanasia. He created corn flakes because he wanted black people and all non-white people to be skinny. He was quite a quack. But they're so good lol. I also like that circus miniature display because of all the clowns and stuff. And the sideshows were interesting. And those medical tools...scary. I wouldn't want to get poked with all that stuff. Well, thanks for sharing! Very interesting video! Have a great day!
Gonna have to check this out.
Also- I really love your channel intro.
Anyone else break out into "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid when he said "gadgets and gizmos"? Just me? Okay.
Hi Jacob awesome vlog at the pink palace. I heard of Piggly Wiggly store👍🏻😺
Glad to see you in Memphis....come on over for dinner....I haven’t been to the pink palace since my kids were little....need to go check it out....thanks
Another great video. Informative and hilarious.
Great video Jacob thanks again
Thanks for sharing; have a Great Weekend
I really appreciate your museum tours. I think you and your audience would have fun with the Spam museum, John Deere Tractor Works museum and factory tour. We also have the world's largest Strawberry, Tea and coffee pots, worlds biggest truck stop, umm...hmmm, maybe the Blu Bunny ice cream shop, museum and factory tour
All are in Iowa. Spam is in Minnesota.
You should come to Austin Minnesota and visit the Spam museum!!! Very interesting!!!
Jacob! At 17:12 you can see a spirit orb form and then flutter down Clarence Sunders face right when you mentioned him! Wow call Ghost Adventures and see if they will investigate The Pink Palace!
Yay, I've actually been here! It was several years ago & what I remember most was meeting a Civil War reenactor. What have you seen in Arkansas?
So neat thanks 😊
Things learnt about America like taxidermy and weapons lol hugs and love intresting video
I swear it sounded something like the purge music in the back 😂
Oh it was the dino
I went there over 20 years ago on a field trip. Did they still have the vintage computers and the sections about the nuclear scares with fallout shelters and civil obedience classes we had to take in 5th grade? Those were traumatic.
Super find. IMO
Chaos reigns!!!!
The woman that was buried in an iron coffin in New York was the subject of the PBS show called "The Woman in the Iron Coffin". She had been dug up by a construction crew & was reburied in a church cemetary. The show is on UA-cam.
Yes! Thank you i knew i remembered hearing about these (or reading) about them usually only the wealthy could afford this and back story but thanks you woke my memory
The neantherdal (sorry, English is my first language but I’m not very good at it, so I probably misspelled that) talk got me thinking, Homo sapiens and homo neantherdals could have fertile offspring together, so by some definitions they would be the same species.
Today is my 36th birthday
Happy Cake Day!
Happy birthday!
@@sparrowspearl882 thank you
Neat to see a replica of the Piggly Wiggly
Being from the UK we never had Piggly Wiggly but I remember seeing it on a truck in 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind' in the 70's
A lot of the skeletons came from the local zoo here in Memphis....... 'Armadillo World' LOL
Most of America doesnt have them either. Dont feel left out lol
@@sparrowspearl882 :D LOL.....ok
Hitchcock would be proud!
Omg,I have been there last summer
My sub in first grade told us about this
Kind of want to check out the Pro Bass there.
In dental assistant courses we learned that dental tools for extractions etc are not that different from how they were. Other advancements have been made for sure and techniques have improved but the tools...well about the same
wow I love possums too
Jane Mansfield`s mansion in L.A. was called the Pink Palace, but it has been torn down.
Next time you come to Memphis please go to the Stax Museum or Sun Studio
I've been there multiple times cause my aunt lives there
Ok this may be a dumb question, but why is the soap "slightly racist"? Is it the name or characters on the boxes/containers
Fairbanks Gold Dust is relatively infamous for its stereotypically "blackface"-ish mascots. That particular revision of the packaging is heavily toned down, so you wouldn't really know it unless you've seen their older stuff, which I presume Jacob must have at some point or other.
This place was and is my childhood

What's the difference between a bison and a buffalo?
You can't wash your hands in a buffalo....
You were in Memphis!!
Actully, that T-rex was calling for a mate.(according to Walking With Dinosaurs, that's the sound the female nade when she was calling for a mate.)
Big fan of your video's Carpetbagger! Coming to you live from the Great White North, please keep your disrespectful comments aboot Canada to a minimum... I look forward to continue being inspired to travel by your video's!
They have a pink palace in Hawaii where Elvis stayed when he makes the movie in hawaii
Watching replay
