Just what I needed to see. I also found my trigger to be very gritty. I polished the surfaces which had heavy tool marks and the pull weight improved.

I am very glad you addressed this. I've not been happy with the pull weight of the firing trigger when shooting "un-set". Seemed way too heavy. I will now go make the adjustments as you showed and just learn to love the trigger as it is and learn how to shoot with the set trigger when I need it. My Hawken came to me as a project gun and I just wasn't sure the triggers were functioning as the factory would have had them set. Now I can get them close and put it out of my mind. Thanks again!

The Trigger pull is SUPER Light when Set, I am talking in the Ounces, To no more than 1 pound. I have adjusted MANY of these Triggers and they all end up in the 6-14 Ounce Range, And like you said the Trigger pull is REALLY Heavy when Not Set. This is just the way they were designed

Just bought one in really good shape for being used for decades and totally thought the set trigger didn’t work. I hope this is all that’s wrong. It still shoots fine though

Thank you for demonstrating the set screw adjustment. I have a different question for you. I purchased a Williams FP Peep Sight for my Renegade. Can you address installation of this sight? Why did you installed washers under your sight?. On mine it looks like I need to remove some wood on the left side to allow a full range of elevation and perhaps even windage adjustment. Also are there any issues drilling and taping the front base for the screw screw that I should be aware of? Thank you for your time.

I have a TC Hawken stock with deer slayer triggers that I aquired from a member of the muzzleloading forum. I adjusted the triggers the same way as described in your video. (Much appreciated for the information) I have another TC Hawken with the stock triggers and I can't really tell any noticeable difference between the deer slayer triggers or the stock ones. Any input on this would be appreciated. I suppose the deer slayer ones are a bit more crisp but not enough to really notice any much of a difference.

Not sure if you fixed it yet or not, I just found out that my main spring was disengaged from the set trigger. Took the trigger assembly out. Reset the main spring in the set trigger sear, then tighten it down. Then adjusted it like the video. Seems fixed now. I've had this hawken for 30+ years, and just used the main trigger. Dad had purchased it used, looks like someone tried messing with it, and never got it right.
