    I have the Vevor model and love it. One clarification. The chamber vacuum sealers remove the air form the entire chamber, including the bag. The bag is then sealed with no air or atmosphere inside. When the chamber vacuum is released it compresses the bag because there is no pressure in the bag to resist it. Thanks for all the great videos!

    I have the VP210 and besides sealing food in bags you can use it to "quick pickle" veggies like onion and cucumber. Put them in a bowl with pickling liquid and run the vac cycle a few times.
    One thing to be aware of is do not try to seal hot or warm liquids, they will boil at low pressure and you end up with liquid being forced out of the bag into the chamber and may end up in the pump.

    It's sealing the liquid as well as the more solid items, it just doesn't appear that way because you can't compress liquid. The bag formed tight to the apple, is just as tight as the liquid filled steak.

    Both machines are set by time …. So 30 sec is same in any situations, and you set vac master for longer vacuum time than vevor …. What makes it look faster .

    I bought my Vacmaster VP-210 in 2011. In 13 years, my maintenance has been 2 replacements of the sealing tape, and…. That’s it. It has been the best $1,000 I ever spent. Saved literally thousands of dollars, probably more than $20k in food waste savings in the 13 years of routine use. What I noted in your video was the vacuum gauge on the Vevor jumping and the brand new Vevor unit oscillating in sound. That is the pump struggling. Yes, you can buy 3 of them for the cost of the Vacmaster. I only know my experience, and I’d buy another Vacmaster if this one fails.

    Nice to see a comparison with the VEVOR.
    I have had that VEVOR model for a year no and am very happy with it. It has a few negatives I can point out, but they are definitely not a deal breaker. One is the vacuum port is directly in front of the bag opening. This means that moisture from the bag goes right into the pump. Because of this you will need to keep an eye on the oil in the pump and change it when it gets cloudy. Another issue with mine is there is no window on the back so you can see the pump window. < This may have changed since I bought mine, but on mine i have to remove the back cover to check the oil. # 3, > with the seal bar being in the back of the chamber you'd have to use a really long bag to do the " over sized external bag vacuum trick" that can be done on a chamber sealer. The chamber could be a bit longer too. :) Good points of this machine are: It has a pretty big vacuum pump with a high rate of CFM and pulls a good vacuum. It has a wider sealing bar than most vacuum chambers. The vacuum pump can be replaced with a standard vacuum pump, plenty of room inside. And, the power switch is a circuit breaker, so if there is an issue it'll let you know by tripping. I also want to point out that oil vacuum pumps usually last longer than dry pumps and pull a stronger vacuum.

    • @curtdunlap6818

      A year later and there is still no window in the back panel to view the oil level / quality.
      I chose this chambervac over the front seal bar models purely for the size of the chamber and seal bar. I decided that if I needed to do extra long bags or canisters/jars, I can still use my old FoodSucker from Sunbeam. It still sucks. I'm still deciding if that's in a good or bad way!

    I did a similar comparison four years ago between the VacMaster VP210 and a Chinese made vacuum sealer bought from eBay that looked the same as Vevor but no brand name. The performances are about the same. The VacMaster is clean, polished. The plastic plates offered were useful when sealing a small bag with too much content in it. The only complain about VacMaster was its weight. It is about 80 lbs. Very difficult to move around. But if you compared the inside of the two units, you will see a big difference on the workmanship. The VacMaster has filters for the vacuuming pump input and output while as the Chinese unit dose not. The filter remove the fume of the vacuum pump oil. The VacMaster use food grade silicone tubing for the connections, while the Chinese unit use vinyl tubing, which might release plasticizer. The wiring and components of Vacmaster inside looks as beautiful as the outside, while as the Chinese unit looks really bad. In addition, the eBay sell does not offer any replacement parts for the machine.

      @@bradseverin1969 know I’m 3 weeks late to this conversation, but I hope you spoke with a local restaurant supply store: if VM gave you a refund, use a couple hundred of that to get it fixed. That’s a simple vacuum pressure switch repair from your description. In my experience with restaurant equipment suppliers, they will offer refunds and say “don’t return the item to us, dispose of it locally” because it costs more to ship it back to themselves than it’s worth to them- they write it off. So with the broken unit and a refund both in your hand, spend a couple hundred to get it refurbished and you just got the deal of the century!
      I’m actually looking at a local restaurant supplier for a used/ refurbished VM to begin with, simply because they last for years under rigorous use in the industry (read “forever” in my home use application) and because they are rebuildable if they do fail. 😊

    Thank you for this video. So far, I'm happy with the Vevor. I did re-shim the lid hinge so it closed evenly, deburred the panels, and installed a few screws where they were missing. It did work out of the box, and the "mods" were for longevity. noise, and peace of mind (obsessive mechanic). Oh, I'll replace the junk "vaccum oil" in a few hours with proper stuff.
    No complaints for under $400. I would have regretted a $1k+ unit built, basically, the same way. Anyway, thank you. Time to get back to vaccing. 😄

    • @gth042
      @gth042 11 місяців тому +3

      VacOil's "ez grade" synthetic, but I run mine for long periods (hot). They make a less-expensive "Grade 20" that should still be top-performing. With this thing, I've learned the oil is like grease on tractor pins; replenishing it more often is better than trusting the good stuff for longer. That oil is basically 'bong water' for most of the evacuated air. If you're doing stuff that bubbles when vac'ed, liquids, or happen to slop, that oil will get contaminated pretty quickly and loose its anti-foam property (and corrode if it's water/steam). Ain't much oil in there. It's also important to remind that steam/vapor counts as liquid (vac lowers boiling points significantly). If price is a big factor, changing the oil more often (or after a mishap) should protect the pump better than pouring in gold and stretching the interval. As long as the viscocity is between 50-65 cSt and vapor pressure

    • @gth042
      @gth042 10 місяців тому

      I never measured it, but my guess is under 200mlL. One "small" bottle goes a long way. ...If price is a big factor, I suspect it's better to change oil with cheap stuff rather than hold out for a better grade. Any of the vacuum oils for HVAC service pumps should work (and be much cheaper). What's in these sealers is basically a small version of what an HVAC tech would have.

      We have issues with our FoodSaver when processing fresh peeled/ sliced apples and when processing fresh fish. Both were allowing the internal juices to be sucked up into the machine which was A: gross af, B: unsanitary af, C: ruined the seal, as it’s not powerful enough to seal the bags if there is moisture in between the layers, D: ruined two machines (one taught us what was ruining it, the second was because we didn’t realize the apple juice was there- too clear in that dark chamber). We now clean that little reservoir in front of the sealer strip between EACH bag! Such a pain!!! That’s the reason we started looking at chamber vacs. We will probably relegate the FS to canning duties after we get a chamber vac. 😕(and keeping the wine from becoming expensive vinegar 😂)

    Vacmaster is designed in Europe. This is however a comparison of two Chinese built machines. We all know why. There are some very good units being manufactured in Italy, USA and Canada... All cost more up front and will save you in the long run. The gold standard... the units that are multi-generational, are built by Turbovac out of the Netherlands. As for Vevor.... contact them and say you have a failed pump on an out of warranty unit. Tell them you want to buy a replacement part. Good luck. The machine will go to landfill. Vacmaster I believe will at least maintain parts. Turbovac has parts on 40 year old machines.... The Italian, USA and Canadian machines are also great though.... don't overlook them....
    The quality of the stainless steel is also questionable with Vevor.... . I tested some Vevor equipment that was made from "stainless steel". It was not. The stainless is very high carbon and corrodes. This becomes problematic... especially if you have a need for sanitary metal

      I just looked into turbovac. You neglected to mention that an equivalent size machine goes for about $5k.

    • @joealta3450

      @@lobes187 Neglected? Um... How many times do you want to spend the $1K on Chinese garbage that dies 3 months after the warranty ends? It's not even real stainless steel... c'mon.... My turbovac's (got a few) cost much less to own than any overseas rubbish that's designed to fail (that is the literal quote from a buyer I know. They are designed to last 3 years, then die) . I have units European and US units over 40 years old that work like new.... same goes for slicers, grinders and everything of the like.
      Even if the were made nearly as well (they're not) Perhaps we want to reconsider who we do business with and why we do it.....
      I think it's kind of weird that you did a video on what is supposed to recommend the best vacuum packing machine, without looking at the actual "best" machines. You just went with common and popular and available and cheap.... and the brands that claim a "pro product". Perhaps you should relabel your evaluations as indicating the Chinese manufactured, consumer grade equipment?
      I like what you're doing. Just not what equipment you use.

    If any of you out there have ever tried to replace the wire or the material covering the wire, you will understand real quick why a machine's price is $1,040 vs $394. the difference is that the 394 dollar flavor will have you pull the hair off your head when you pull maintenance on it, and should something brake in it, good luck having it repaired. you will end up buying the 1040 flavor for replacement plus the 394 dollars you first spend for a total of 1,400 and change. So, to make a long story short, the difference is engineering, good engineering is not cheap

They won't replace but give a 'partial credit ' by how long do can buy something else. Looks solid, someday🤞, I'm rebuilding so? Tyvm tc 🍔🥩

    I wish he could have used a Vacmaster VP215, that way you would be comparing two oil driven vacuum pump models. Oil pumps are quieter and faster than dry pumps.

  • @Dominikmj
    @Dominikmj Рік тому +3

    I think the main difference besides of the oil free vacuum pump comes from the fact, that VacMaster is a big brand and there is more administration, logistics, marketing etc. involved.
    I have got an inexpensive chamber vacuum sealer and I am super happy. The sealer is in front opposite of the air-inlet, which I rather like (this isn’t so good in the video - if you have a liquid over-boiling you have got it into the vacuum pipe and you have got directly to exchange the oil.
    However due to the very simple “in the box” construction (there is literally a full vacuum pump within the box) - they are very easy to fix.
    Oh another thing: I like the deeper “beds” of both machines. Mine is a bit shallow, which makes it more prone to overflow liquids.

    Great video. Quick note- the metal plate in the Vevor takes up little volume. Likely more to raise your smaller bags up than to reduce volume to reduce vacuum time. The other machine has plastic plates that take up substantial volume and will reduce vacuum time- however that machine seemed to take longer anyways.

    Great review am considering making a purchase of the Vevor. A question I have and have been unable to find an answer to is how much does altitude effect the vacuum performance of the machine? I live at 5300' above sea level.

    • @SerienchiIIer
      @SerienchiIIer 4 місяці тому

      If anything, it should be even better at altitude. There is no vacuum pump in the world that can produce 100% vacuum, it's always 99.X%. So a tiny bit of air will remain in the chamber.
      If you're at a higher altitude, the pump only has to work against a lower outside pressure, so it can achieve a better vacuum.
