Thank you! And yes, the Habaki is hands down the hardest part for me to make. I am going to try a new silver solder rod (ssf-6) that is supposed to be strong and easy to work with.

Like the flame motif on Rengoku's katana is a two-piece habaki that has to be carefully silver soldered! "Tetrahymena" has a great vid. I'm excited to see you try the ssf-6! Hope to get some footage and hope it works well! 🙏
@@adamwilder1407 Thank you! Oh yeah, I saw him making the Habaki too! Great traditional technique that was. I have been looking at muggy weld, for silver solder (ssf-6 56%). I have seen people using it on UA-cam, and it looks SOOOOOO much easier to use than a brass rod. It has a lower melting point, but just as much strength as a brass rod. Only thing is, it is like 10x more expensive.
@@JumboRadish I've heard about muggy weld too I'ma have to give it a try! (Despite price) hahaha and yes! That brass rod has to be orange hot with the brass to melt effectively! It's a pain even with MAPP gas hahaha. I'm always curious as to how you seem to never get warps in your blades? Is it because you vertical quench? I've been doing horizontal and end up with warps 😩 which can be fixed but you know how that goes hahaha

Ever think of doing a total package build? Like add a hamon and nakago filework and you could sign it? Something that speaks to your tastes, not an anime or existing thing somewhere else. If you were the hero of your own thing, what would it look like...

Thanks Kobe! I plan on making more blades from movies and video games, not just anime. I can't wait for October, I plan on making horror movie weapons (Jason, Krueger, Myers ,etc)
If you don't mind making a lot of noise, an angle grinder is a definite must. It can do sooo much for a knife/sword maker. You can cut steel, grind bevels, polish metal, etc. But I must warn you, it is very loud. You can of course do everything with hand tools, it just takes a lot of time (check out my Wakizashi video, I did everything by hand). Another important thing is to get something to clamp down your workpiece. I use c-clamps and a vice. There are of course a ton of other tips, just ask, I might be able to help :)
I just rewatched it ,these 8 minutes feel like 3 time flies when you're having fun. But I think I want to try my hand at this I know a shop, What size steel do you start with? I see the grade only
I now ask, will you make the nails or a needle from hollow knight? I ask because I love the game and I want to see you attempt this seeing the skill you have of making these weapons.
