My understanding they did away with the spores for the show & instead they are using the things that come out of the mouth to infect other people. I think it was the creator who said they didn’t want their characters to have to be wearing gas masks a lot of the time.
I think it was a really strong starting point, the changes were welcome and the additions fleshed out the characters. it was cool to learn tommy is a vet and it makes sense as to why hes so good with a sniper
Some of these scenes identical to the game have already been performed live on stage by the original voice actors, which also added new scenes. They also confirmed they're not using spores. That's what the tendrils are for.
Kiwi, i am so glad your reviewing this show which no doubt is going to be a great one. I thought you took a extended break after B.C.S. Great review man!
Hell yes! Dude please cover this show! It truly deserves your attention and is probably the best video game adaptation of all time. They were true to the game down to the smallest detail like Sarah’s T-shirt, and even the dialogue about “I sell hardcore drugs”. (Man they sniped me right in the nostalgia bone with that) I can’t wait to watch your vids after every episode exactly like I did with Better Call Saul. Thank you for this! Keep up the good work bro!
Cool! I'm doing the show for the Dark Discussions Podcast, so I'll be interested in hearing your takes. I never played the game, but I have seen the comparisons and can understand why so many fans of the series were thrilled with the show. For me, I know the zombie and apocalypse genre very well and didn't find this offered anything new (yet). It was well done, but comfortable and predictable. That said, it is only episode 1 and with a full season guaranteed (if not 2) they didn't need to "hook" the audience either. A tablesetter episode works well enough.
as a fan of the game, hailing it as a masterpiece and the best game ever i have to say, the show really does the game a justice and im glad how the people who worked on the game were involved
I think the episode was really faithful but to the point that some changes were kind of weird. Like why did a plane crashing have to be what caused the truck to crash why couldn’t it just be a car crash like in the game especially when the same car hits the truck shortly after they get out of the truck. Other than minor things like that I really enjoyed it
I just finished episode 4. Not a gamer, and also not usually a fan of post apocalyptic stuff where non-living human bodies spread some sort of infection as the humans go tribal and fight amongst one another. I don't think it's unreasonable to say the genre has been done quite a bit. This show, however, has surprised me. When Game Of Thrones came out, I didn't have any interest in watching it at first because fantasy isn't usually my bag, either. But because it was (for the first little while, anyway) a very well written and produced TV show with great acting, it won me over. It was quality over content, if that makes sense. I feel the same about The Last Of Us. It's just really damn good TV. Episode 3 in particular was incredible. I'll eat my hat if it doesn't at least get an Emmy nomination. The fact that you're now covering this show is a bonus 😁
After seeing the first episode, I have a lot of hope for this show. It really does help that The Last of Us already has a fantastic story. They also represent the video game aspect fairly well.
As someone who never played the games this episode had me very intrigued from the start!! Im a fan of the zombie genre and i have take my fair amount of crap shows (TWD) but this one feels like its going in a good direction. I can confidently say that its good!
@@TheVividKiWi yeah it definitely sucks.. but I have hope for the “tendrils” idea they have… I guess they were originally going to be in the first game but they were cut for some reason
Spores aren't going to be used in the series, they're going to use the weird mouth thing instead, guess the show writers didn't see much of a point when usually in the game it's just a "Put on your masks" and then back to normal gameplay. Maybe they didn't want to make pedro wear a mask for another one of his projects for extended periods
I mean in the game the masks are pretty pointless but in the show they could enable some dramatic tension. Also the removal of masks and spores kind of ruins a very big plot point in the second game. Spoiler alert. One of the characters, Dina, finds out Ellie is immune only when an infected breaks her mask and she's fine.
This would have been quite the unique experience for you. Well I say Unique I wonder what % of the viewership has and hasnt pkayed the game. Personally I felt like almost knowing what was going to happen at every corner but was still really enjoying it
@@uraigroves7898especially subscribed to it, I hate that they are artificially dropping episodes a week just to keep people subscribed to their shit. Netflix is Doing the same with anime that are already finished like Monster, and Vinland saga. The episodes are already done so just release them all at once.
You have no idea what kind of "YES" reaction I got after seeing this notification.
but i do , less toilet paper n wash your hands after next time
So pumped you're gonna be doing videos on this series. That BCS coverage was legit and I can't wait to see more of your thoughts on TLOU

This show is definetly what you should cover next. Not sure if anything will top BCS but this is a gem for sure.
This man does Better Call Saul AND Last Of Us!? This guy better stop reading my list for shows I'm or was excited for! Keep it up!
They've said that there wont be any spore infected buildings because like in the game. They also gave a good explanation to why
Interesting in the game the prologue was more on a modern era because Joel had a smart phone, but on 2003 there were no smart phones
The fact it had me looking up the intro in UA-cam as soon as the opening started is a very good sign.
So hyped to see you will be covering this series
Yes! Super happy you’re covering this!
Congrats on 40k glad to see you expanding into other shows
I think it was a really strong starting point, the changes were welcome and the additions fleshed out the characters. it was cool to learn tommy is a vet and it makes sense as to why hes so good with a sniper
Sniper rifle?
I reckon they got rid of Joel and tess killing Robert and his men so they could delay showing what Joel is capable of until a bit later.
oh my god i was so hoping that you would do videos on this show

VividKiwi reviewing Last of Us. This is awesome
I think playing the game kind of desensitised me to Sarah's death. I've seen it so many times I didn't even cry when I saw it again.

God damn this show already has so many cool visuals, cant wait for episode 2!

Soon as I saw Vivid Kiwi and TLOU, I CLICKED and LIKED! 💯
Spores will not be in the show. Craig Mazin said he didn't want the characters in gas masks all the time.
That’s disappointing to hear for various reasons, I’ll touch on it in future videos.
@@TheVividKiWi yeah it definitely sucks.. but I have hope for the “tendrils” idea they have… I guess they were originally going to be in the first game but they were cut for some reason
@@TheVividKiWi I completely agree.. Hopefully it'll be a minor change going forward
to be fair if there really were airborne spores like in the games realistically everyone would be infected.
As a halo fan this breaks my heart

Finally Kiwi my boy!
Can someone tell me the name of the song in the background of this video, an Irish youtuber I watch uses it also and its awoken some funny memories 😂
0:55 looks like one of those AI photos
I’ve heard no spores, spores mean the cast has to wear gas masks and that’s kind of the opposite of what they wanted for the show.
the fact the actors being told not to play the games isnt a source of concern is concerning it of itself
bella ramsey said in an interview that her and pedro watched a playthrough to get around that "rule"
lets go
I thought the first episode was great! I didn't play the game, so I'm going into the series blind.
one of the "best" video games of all time? what?
It's hard imagining it as a game so I'm not playing until the show ends.
This would have been quite the unique experience for you. Well I say Unique I wonder what % of the viewership has and hasnt pkayed the game. Personally I felt like almost knowing what was going to happen at every corner but was still really enjoying it
I’m still not gonna watch it till all the episodes are out.
Me 2....waiting a week sucks...
