The Gobert hate is real. There’s a reason fans don’t vote for Defensive Player of the Year. He’s an absolute beast when he’s on your team. Does the dirty work without complaining and is a straight-up deterrent just by being in the paint. Something you don’t see in the stats. But casual fans will keep saying he’s a bad defender. Offensively, yeah, no doubt, he doesn’t have the best hands... Maybe even really bad hands. But that doesn’t stop him from having one of the best field goal percentages in the league near the rim. When your big man has a mismatch under the basket, you gotta feed him.
I think Shaq and Draymond's attacks on him and were very effective on skewing the public opinion in painting him as the most overpaid athlete on court. Funny that those 2 asshats had nothing to say about crybaby Embiid, Pandemic P and many others.
My biggest issue is he gets cooked by his good matchups every time and in the playoffs is a liability as everyone just switches onto him. That's not the best defender in the league. Advanced stats sure hes great. He's nowhere near Wemby tho who does everything and more on D.

One of the biggest nba mysteries to me is how Gobert is the most disrespected player from like every single corner. What did this guy do to deserve this? Other than the Covid thing years ago, I just don’t understand why this guy, multiple time defensive player of the year, gets so disrespected. I actually don’t understand. I never liked this trade. I’m not a believer in Randle. Yea Minnesota had to make the trade for money reason, but they screwed up a good thing they had going on. And for THAT REASON so did the Knicks. This trade was a huge lose-lose.
Do you think the nba players just disrespect him cause they feel like it? No. It’s because he’s not good. Just because you think he might be good or people who “watch” the nba think he’s dpoty doesn’t mean the nba players think he is. @@sangun123 Oh, I don't like Randle's game either. But Gobert is an absolute liability on offense because just like in this clip he will get open under the rim and then fumble the ball away. How the heck do you not catch the basketball. Gobert can't say that he wasn't expecting a ball because supposedly that's why he was under the rim in the first place. He complains when he doesn't get the ball and when he does get it he doesn't know what to do with it. He can't even catch it.
At least Rudy is effective in defense not to mention wherever he is, he makes the team better. Except the first year in Minnesota. As for Randle, the Knicks was way better in the playoffs without him.
Same thing with Spida. They dont trust him to give him the ball, especially late game. Even times when he has an easy lay up or mis match he somehow manages to mess it up
I think this was Kat's most underrated skill- he would give passes to Gobert. It's a 50/50 shot of Gobert fumbling the ball or Gobert catching and finishing 😂, but it's a way to reward your anchor for their defense. The warriors kinda had a similar scenario many years ago with Draymond. Not really on the scoring side, but Kerr had to design ways to make Draymond be a facilitator to be more involved offensive end.
Feels like Randle would prefer Gobert to stand off of the basket, opening a lane for him to get inside and either score or draw Gobert's defender onto him so he can dump it off onto Gobert for an easy basket... if Gobert can hold onto the ball 😂 Which is evidenced by the later clips where Randle feeds Gobert a couple of times for baskets. Not sure why Gobert's teammates aren't passing him the ball when he's got position and a mismatch but I guess they can't have much faith in his post-up game if that's the case 🤷🏻♂ Either way, Gobert's reaction was childish IMHO. I can understand why he got frustrated but that 3-second violation with the scores tied and under 5 minutes to go... followed by the hip check that he did on Scottie Barnes the next possession that led to free throws, may very well have cost them the game.
hey if everyone on ur team disrespects u and coaching staff doesnt even let u get like a single touch except for lobs like just hire tacko fall instead
He’s human but to constantly miss a teammate for what should be a more efficient shot is inexcusable. His reaction was in response to bs the same way they get techs from refs for bs.
@@user-dh7dj3yw1b that’s my point though, I think they just don’t trust his post up game for whatever reason… not excusing what his teammates did or saying they were right to refuse to pass the ball, but the scores were tied when Gobert did what he did and put them behind so his reactions were not only unnecessary but also more glaring. You might be right, if they had passed the ball to him all those times he could have scored a ton - or he could have fumbled and lost the ball on the passes like he did a couple of times in the video above. We’ll never know that, cos it did not happen. What we do know is that he reacted poorly to not getting the ball and that put them behind.
Remember when Randle used to tell stories about Kobe trashing the entire locker room but him excluded? Remember his time in the Pelicans where he hogged the ball so his points were up but the team was down? Remember when Knicks used to suck until he got injured? Rudy is unlikeable but Randle is a diva.
I know both share some blame but to me, the problem is Randle. Golbert was already on the team when the timberwolves didn’t have this issue. Randle is extremely selfish and a ball hog which is what NYC experienced with him too. He’s the root cause.
They probably seen how Gobert can't score from that position during practice. Why would they give it to him then during the game. If you're Gobert "man up" -Shaq. Getting paid millions and not being able to develop and offense is weak af.
gobert has like one of the highest fg percentages by the rim, when he's in position like that, he can score lmao, implying contested 3's and turnovers are a better alternative is insane
Gobert is more of a liability to this team then he is a positive. They need to find a big man to take his place. Someone that can handle the ball in the paint a bit better.
I love Rudy, I could go on and on about him, but there is no such thing as a mismatch for Rudy on offense. He's the worst offensive player in the league. Demanding the ball in the paint and getting mad when he doesn't get it is one of his biggest flaws.
Here’s my issue. I think people need to understand there is more to receiving a pass from someone. The placement of the pass matters. He’s a 7 footer. Why are most of these passes being thrown to him below the waist? Put it where he can catch it and go straight up. With that being said, he does need to work on freeing up a bit more space when there is dribble penetration and his catching ability. So, both of these issues contribute to his inability to catch passes. Also, where are the lobs?
Gobert has no hands offensively, he is clumsy with the ball, he needs to work on that or he will always be a bad offensive player. Look some of Wemby and Curry workouts with small balls to work on their reflexes... Rudy needs that.
They do him bad. Those passes that was dropped to me was below his waist. The other was like Randle trying & so Gobert was going for a rebound incase he misses when Randle suddenly changed his mind, eventually passed. Gobert got few mismatches...
LOL, have you seen Jokic passing the ball to Russ for 3s even though he can't shoot? Look at Russ now, his percentage is improving just because of the trust his teammates are giving him.
Its always a misnatch , because this dude well known for having butter on his hands , he cant catch , cant pump fake, cant shoit middy , if u that bad stay in dunker spot , u already overpaid by 200m
They don't believe in Rudy...Rudy has lost not only his teammates trust and confidence in him, but most of the players in the NBA think Rudy is very soft and overrated...100% FACTS.
If I was in Gobert’s position; a mismatch an essentially the higher quality look of a bucket, and it’s not coming I can’t blame him. These guys are playing low efficiency basketball. The minute that ball goes to low block on the mismatch, it’s pulling someone from somewhere else resulting in a more open shot if Gobert or whoever is down low. Sad that there’s little to no team basketball.
On the outside looking in I can understand why people would be upset that Randle didn't make that pass to Gobert but as a Jazz fan I can promise you Rudy is terrible offensively even if he has a smaller defender on him. Most of the time he either turns the ball over or misses a wide open shot and then he complains when he doesn't get the ball. This is what caused Rudy and D. Mitchell to clash so much on the court and is happening in MN now
I agree up until the last thing you said in this video. We didn’t, “go out and get Julius Randle,” as you said. We offloaded KAT’s bloated contract for a vet & a 3-wing shooter. That’s what happened. Yes it’s a big trade and now he’s in the spotlight but that’s what happened.
What I used to do in those situations was just intentionally get 3 in the key and blame the other player for not passing it. But I was also the best player on my teams. Robert is sorry on offense but at a certain point you gotta give the ball to the 7 footer RIGHT under the basket
As a Bulls fan I see this happen a lot with Vucevic. He'll have his defender sealed or be in prime post position against a smaller defender and they don't give him the ball. It's very frustrating at times, especially like in game against Brooklyn earlier this season where Vucevic only got to take two shots in the fourth.
I was thinking to myself that he gotta frustrated because he gets these type of mismatches all game, but nobody on the team passes it to him when he makes a move. He's obviously not a post player. But he's the exact player you try to reward whenever you can because of the amount of effort he puts in defensively. Sad tbh.
Sure the pass was low but dude is an NBA player. Have better hands than that. Y’all can catch no look passes no problem but one that’s a little low is a problem? Gobert was wide open in a couple of these situations for sure and the obsession in the NBA with the 3 pointer doesn’t help and only adds to the reasons he wasn’t passed to. Let’s also be real though, Rudy is not really an offensive weapon or someone you want handling the ball that often. Yes these moments he probably should have gotten the ball for what looked like easy points however he’s not as sure of a bucket as other centers in the league or other players on our team either. So I see both sides.
To be fair it was 3 seconds in the paint before Gobert started walking. If the whistle would have come in time it would have been obvious this was all on Randle.
That’s the hard part abt playing offense with gobert we all know if u pass him the ball and it’s not a wide open dunk or alley oop he’s gonna fumble the pass or get fouled especially in the clutch I don’t care who gobert is sealing off im not passing that too him lol, in the middle portions of the game I think they should give him the ball more wen he’s open
I was at this game, and you can see the animosity between the 2. As a Knicks fan I can tell u, Randle continues to hold the ball and just won't pass. He repeatedly forced shots and made terrible plays. Gobert was basically useless in this game.He moved like he had a stiff back. He also played liked he doesn't want to be there and was basically ignored by the entire team in the shoot around before the game and throughout the game. The Timberwolves played like shyt and lost. The entire game was sloppy. Edward's also played like he didn't want to be there. He scored 20+ but could have had 30+ if he actually played like he normally does. It was a terrible game for both teams but the Raptors played more like a team.
I think it’s kinda overblown. Multiple guys didn’t give Gobert the ball, not just Randle. I’m sure it was all explained during film playback. This was an excellent breakdown
Gobert offence is notoriously bad. He’s a liability on offence. It’s like what Shaq and Chuck have been saying for years. How can you be the best defensive player when your offence is so visible they take you off the court for the last 2-5 minutes of the game. He’s very one dimensional for a max player.
They were better when they were a defensive team. Now they trying to generate extra offence so they dont have to do what they did in denver but tbh i think this being the number 1 defence last season was better for them than this high offence line ups
I understand Gobert's frustration. As a big man who outside of putbacks almost solely relies on the playmaker to get him the ball to score it must be frustrating being on the same team as ball dominant players like Edwards, and Randle who just don't know how to feed a big. Doesn't help that Conley hasn't been the same player this season and Kyle Anderson left. Rudy is actually a good roller to the rim and he gets himself into good positions around the basket. He just has no service from his playmakers. They're not maximizing his potential or the rest of the roster and the reality is that having two non playmakers like Edwards and Randle ruins the teams offence.

Damn they straight up bullying dude , Randle ruin this teams chemistry maynn
Yeah this team isn't going anywhere near a championship. Seemed so promising just 6 months ago.
Not even Rubio used to give him these passes. He cant catch the ball or take advantage of post ups.
Randle is 29 now, its on teams at this point. Guy was always this bullshit.
Randle on the mavericks would go crazy hes just not a good fit on the wolves
@@elvergudo9355 For goodness sakes don't ruin the MAVs to, there is barely enough ball to go around now as it is. Randle would kill that team and Kyrie and Luka both would prob shut him down quick. They have trouble getting Klay enough shots
those were terrible passes that he fumbled, prolly wasn’t even expecting the passes since they don’t pass either
yeah he definitely looks caught off guard on at least two of these
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Looks like No Handle Randle just carelessly shoveled Go Bare or Go Home the ball the ball at his kneecaps. Not an easy pass for a 7 foot giant to reach.
This is proof that New York won this trade.
Lose lose trade imo
Ain't nobody winning a ring with either Randle or Kat 😂
Have you seen the Knicks this year?
@@My99-hv6sj Yes, there's some growing pains, but did you see them last night blow out the Nuggets? This Randle stuff is not new to us. Good talent, but too often a head case.
@@spinedoc18 immaculate timing from the Knicks I’ll give you that. I still don’t believe they got better if not worse. Imo this was a pointless trade for both teams that were already trending upwards
Brother Minnesota did the trade for salary cap reasons. When you do that, you’re almost never winning the trade. NY made the trade with the intent of getting KAT
This is one of the problems with todays game. Guys dont know how to feed the paint. Man is literally under the goal and randall chooses to iso. Come on man. Thats wasted effort.

Comparing this to your little ymca experience is hilarious
He has
I think Shaq and Draymond's attacks on him and were very effective on skewing the public opinion in painting him as the most overpaid athlete on court. Funny that those 2 asshats had nothing to say about crybaby Embiid, Pandemic P and many others.
@@akirosakuragi9279
Facts
My biggest issue is he gets cooked by his good matchups every time and in the playoffs is a liability as everyone just switches onto him. That's not the best defender in the league.
Advanced stats sure hes great. He's nowhere near Wemby tho who does everything and more on D.
@
Gobert is a better rim protector than Wemby is a perimeter defender, and rim protection matters more. He’s a big who might get cooked by great guards, but that’s happened for years
Edit: To other great bigs. Even Ben Wallace got scored on by Shaq
Randle is terrible to watch. Plays prison-ball and relies on the refs
Lmao “prison ball” is thee perfect way to describe what he does on the court 😂. Head down, bull rush, bail out passes, complain and watch your team play 4 on 5 defense in transition 😂😂😂
prison-ball💀😭
🤣 erfect way to describe it
He's like LeBron but not very good
Facts. He slows the pace of the offence massively, plays no defence and Looks entitled as shit while doing it too.
Great analysis. Am Hoops wouldve blown this out of proportion like everything else. Its refreshing to watch someone with hones and realistic takes!
Nelson Aglehor catching strays
I've never liked either player, but Randle just comes off selfish to me on the court
I agree. Rudy is a little obnoxious but he's not selfish on the court. Randle is very obnoxious AND selfish on the court.😂
Bro idk how Rudy copes with this stuff he holds down the defense give him some touches if I was Randle I’d straight up tell ant “hey I need ball more I’m a dopy caliber player treat me like one”
They need to trade Randle for even a few darft picks and start Reid.
I mean they could just start Reid now and bench Randle.
@@DemonKingBadger a benched randle doesnt buy in to the team and you've wasted your trade
No one is giving Randle a draft pick, that guy is a 29 year old ballhogging overpaid bum.
That's what they're going to do. The trade was to be able to have flexibility in trades and free agency. Minnesota is playing the long game. Randle is still an asset that they can get a return for

If I were Rudy, anytime I pass to Randle, it’s going to be a speed pass at his ankles.. not in practice but in real games

@
You are right.
Knicks fans never really liked Randall.
He dribbled the ball more than Brunson. If you pass to Randle, you are not likely to get it back. He wouldn’t share the ball unless there was a 90% chance it would result in an assist for him
One of the biggest nba mysteries to me is how Gobert is the most disrespected player from like every single corner.
And they obviously know more about basketball and watch a ton more film than anyone in the comments. Where there is smoke there is fire.
@@ESPLTD782Even if he is not good enough for them the guy is playing heavy mins. among starter players. He is literally with them on the floor and got good positions. @@ESPLTD782 yeah probably his dpoy awards is debatable. But do you think coaches are idiots? He is a star caliber player, can defend well, can for sure score in the paint if can get the right touches and mismatches.
@ yes. Actually I do think some coaches are idiots. Compared to you and I, obviously not they are savants of basketball, but compared to other coaches, yes. Doc rivers has been terrible for years and years, and has been ruining teams. Darvin ham was stubborn and by all accounts was not making any adjustments. Yo my guy, I am genuinely grateful for this channel. Like genuinely real basketball knowledge and passion
it's not gober's 3 sec violation it's randle's 5 sec not passing the ball.
Randle dribbling the air out of the ball and making goofy dumbfounded faces in 90 percent of his game
Precisely. Except it be more like 7 seconds
This is the content the sport needs! Love how you break down film.. I’m only a minute in & I’m hooked

@@captainwohop right? i never thought we'd get KAT but i always thought we need to get rid of randle for any real success, like sure he can get 20 and 10, but my god it'll be at the cost of any real ball movement
It is a disgrace to the game actually. He just wanted to humiliate Rudy there. They were down by 5 at 5 second as well, he could easily go for 3 to cut it to 2. But he cares more about "winning" a hypothetical argument against Gobert than slim chance of winning.
FOH the ball hit him right in the hands. As an NBA player you catch that. Only a scrub who doesn’t ball would even question that pass in a tight window. Randle force fed Gobert and he fumbled a few passes as well. Knicks just lost to the Jazz, and you know what a 6’9 PF would have been helpful.

That was a fair take on the situation - just blaming Randle is too easy. The Wolves should look to the Celtics to see how important team chemistry is. Guys like Tatum are learning to park their egos and support their teammates. And hopefully the Wolves will too!

Why didn't Julius take the switch to AD on the screen? Dude is a horrible basketball player, and does not make others around him better.
@ exactly
Randle is a cancer to any team. He has low bball in too.
You just described Rudy Gobert. He and Randle are two of the dumbest players in the NBA.
@@KillerJoe-p6r gobert plays actual great defense, randle is just lazy and will resort to throwing up 20 3's a game
@@KillerJoe-p6rthose were ankle passes to a center....Randle is only worrying about jackin 3's wit his goofy BB IQ.
At least Rudy is effective in defense not to mention wherever he is, he makes the team better. Except the first year in Minnesota. As for Randle, the Knicks was way better in the playoffs without him.
Same thing with Spida. They dont trust him to give him the ball, especially late game. Even times when he has an easy lay up or mis match he somehow manages to mess it up
Gobert played Robin Williams and Randle is Kurt Russell: It was the best of times.... it was the worst of times...
Draymond is a fantasic passer -- but Randle .... you have to pry the ball out of his hands. Rudy deserved to get that pass.
Not sure why Gobert's teammates aren't passing him the ball when he's got position and a mismatch but I guess they can't have much faith in his post-up game if that's the case 🤷🏻♂
Either way, Gobert's reaction was childish IMHO. I can understand why he got frustrated but that 3-second violation with the scores tied and under 5 minutes to go... followed by the hip check that he did on Scottie Barnes the next possession that led to free throws, may very well have cost them the game.
hey if everyone on ur team disrespects u and coaching staff doesnt even let u get like a single touch except for lobs like just hire tacko fall instead
i wish rudy just request a trade
He’s human but to constantly miss a teammate for what should be a more efficient shot is inexcusable. His reaction was in response to bs the same way they get techs from refs for bs.
I’d say them not giving him l the ball for easy buckets among other things cost them more than his “childish” reaction
Minnesota's FRONT OFFICE is what is wrong. Trading KAT for Randle was the dumbest move in 5 plus years in the entire league.
Knicks did not "used to suck until he got injured"
I know both share some blame but to me, the problem is Randle. Golbert was already on the team when the timberwolves didn’t have this issue. Randle is extremely selfish and a ball hog which is what NYC experienced with him too. He’s the root cause.
Rudy Gobert calling for the ball is the funniest shit ever 🤣 😂
Meaningful analysis thanks
They probably seen how Gobert can't score from that position during practice. Why would they give it to him then during the game.
If you're Gobert "man up" -Shaq. Getting paid millions and not being able to develop and offense is weak af.
gobert has like one of the highest fg percentages by the rim, when he's in position like that, he can score lmao, implying contested 3's and turnovers are a better alternative is insane
That VC tribute court is so sick
Gobert is more of a liability to this team then he is a positive. They need to find a big man to take his place. Someone that can handle the ball in the paint a bit better.
Wow, I’m glad I came across this
man, if i'm gobert, i might have pulled that kind of sht on them as well. these guys want to solo everything like its not a team game. 😂 kids
I love Rudy, I could go on and on about him, but there is no such thing as a mismatch for Rudy on offense. He's the worst offensive player in the league. Demanding the ball in the paint and getting mad when he doesn't get it is one of his biggest flaws.
The Knicks win this trade, Randle is just another "One Season Wonder" player 😂
Rudy needs that.
damn, Nelson Agholor out here catching strays
I think even Jokic would think twice before assisting to Gobert
They do him bad. Those passes that was dropped to me was below his waist. The other was like Randle trying & so Gobert was going for a rebound incase he misses when Randle suddenly changed his mind, eventually passed. Gobert got few mismatches...
LOL, have you seen Jokic passing the ball to Russ for 3s even though he can't shoot? Look at Russ now, his percentage is improving just because of the trust his teammates are giving him.
i saw him pass the ball to Will Barton in clutch moments, Jokic really has to much confidence in his players @@spidaa1717
The Nelson Agholor hand joke was great lol
They rather take a long contested 3 and off balanced layup than pass it to post for mismatched. 😂😂
Its always a misnatch , because this dude well known for having butter on his hands , he cant catch , cant pump fake, cant shoit middy , if u that bad stay in dunker spot , u already overpaid by 200m
This wasn’t even the first time they got into it but I call it a mix of growing pains as well as nobody really respecting Rudy
Excellent Take!!
Gobert has no hands...that he actually calls for the ball is hilarious, no wonder no NBA player likes him
They don't believe in Rudy...Rudy has lost not only his teammates trust and confidence in him, but most of the players in the NBA think Rudy is very soft and overrated...100% FACTS.
Byron Scott called Randle out years ago about his Immaturity!
Mitchell to clash so much on the court and is happening in MN now
In order for one to grow they need opportunities.
Wolves must be a pack or fall apart...... thanks for this; GoGobert !!!
Reminded me of Bynum getting deep low post position and screaming " GIVE ME THE FUCKING BALL" lol
“Nelson aghalor hands” @2:19
Bro knows ball 😭 and that’s coming from a ravens fan lol
What I used to do in those situations was just intentionally get 3 in the key and blame the other player for not passing it. But I was also the best player on my teams. Robert is sorry on offense but at a certain point you gotta give the ball to the 7 footer RIGHT under the basket
Just saw Randle get up immediately after Gobert sat next to him on the bench against Houston lol
Gobert is 7 feet tall n Randal passes ball to him at his feet. Randel as always been a bad team player....
0:51 how much of a better position does he need lol. Throw it high towards the basket he's the only one that's going to get it lol
Working hard for those 10 points a night. 😂
I was thinking to myself that he gotta frustrated because he gets these type of mismatches all game, but nobody on the team passes it to him when he makes a move. He's obviously not a post player. But he's the exact player you try to reward whenever you can because of the amount of effort he puts in defensively. Sad tbh.
As a Jazz fan! Yes! We need more of this!
This is precisely why New York got rid of Julius Randall. And the reason Donovan Mitchell didn’t wanna play with Ruby Gobert.
I remember seeing DSj and Julius Randle go at it 😂
That’s the hard part abt playing offense with gobert we all know if u pass him the ball and it’s not a wide open dunk or alley oop he’s gonna fumble the pass or get fouled especially in the clutch I don’t care who gobert is sealing off im not passing that too him lol, in the middle portions of the game I think they should give him the ball more wen he’s open
Randle is always the problem I’m happy he’s out of the Knicks forever
Nelson agholor reference is right on😂😂
warriors could use rudy bro.
let his value and pay drop, then warriors gladly pick him up, it will be awesome with warriors' ball play
Not trying to nit pick I know he doesn’t have good hands but bounce pass especially that last one
Gobert offence is notoriously bad. He’s a liability on offence. It’s like what Shaq and Chuck have been saying for years. How can you be the best defensive player when your offence is so visible they take you off the court for the last 2-5 minutes of the game. He’s very one dimensional for a max player.
Shaq is the least objective when it comes to Gobert.
The amount of free throws and layup he missed cost them the game yesterday
The common denominator here is gobert
