I set the goal to read the Bible in a year when I was 17. Embarrassingly took me 3 years, but I’m still SO glad I started because otherwise I never would’ve done it. One of the best things I’ve ever done. I’ve done it 3 more times since and am aiming to do it again next year. But I’m trying to be less harsh with myself with the timing because that’s just an arbitrary number that I’ve set. Don’t think God cares how long I take to do it, just that I do!

I like the quote, “Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it’s not the end.” You just gotta keep going even if there’s people that leave your life or a girl that hurts you or whatever it is. You find new things and new friends and staying attached to things that are gone isn’t going to help. Or if something or someone new comes into your life, let them in and don’t be scared to have a new obsession. I recently started playing guitar and I play it all day like I did with cubes. I fucked up a relationship I had with a girl I loved. My best friend moved away. I started going to the gym. I stopped cubing. All these things happen and things change really fast. It sucks and it’s weird but I just know it’ll be okay.
Awesome video Luke, it’s really nice to see your positive shift of mindset. It’s always a lot of fun to compete against you and hang out at comps, and I’m sure 2025 will be great year for both of us! 😀

Beautifully spoken, thank you for sharing this! Firstly, I just wanted to extend my best wishes to you and your partner for the hard time you’ve had recently and the tough experiences. Secondly, I wanted to echo the sentiment that taking the fun out of cubing will absolutely ruin it, I’ve been there and I’m sure a lot of people also have been without even realising. The last thing I wanted to say was that I have a huge amount of respect for your dedication to helping other people and the personal approach of helping people to achieve their goals. I’ll have to think of my 10 in the next couple of days 😊
hey luke, i’m an aspiring clock solver who hopes to break fwr someday. i recently went to a comp that the night before it started, i considered dropping out of because i felt like i lost the potential to be a fwr holder, but i got it together and decided to go to the comp anyway. clock first round i did pretty mid, but in finals, i dnfed my average and it could have been 3.64 (tied fwr). after that round i beat myself up for a while, but the more i thought about it, the more it gave me hope that i could break fwr someday. but ever since that comp, my sole focus has been on grinding to be the best female clock solver in the world and nothing else. watching this made me remember why i started cubing in the first place: it’s a fun hobby that i enjoy with my whole heart. i have clock rounds in january so hopefully i can get something good there, but i’m not gonna stress about it too much. thank you for making this video and i wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors ❤
1. Get Money ( Job, I’m old enough finally) 2. Get Muscle(Lift) 3. Sub 20 on 3x3 4. Learn Ortega and CLL 5. Sub 5:45 in the mile 6. Get rid of acne 7. Learn to converse better with I meet
I was at the same competition yesterday. I had a lot of good moments, but I feel like one negative experience just overshadowed them all. I have been practicing 7x7 a lot, and I really wanted a sub 4 mean or just a PR mean at that point (PR for me was 4:10.51 going into the comp). I did my 6x6 solves and submitted my 7x7 (it was a cumulative time limit of 20 mins). Little did I realize (until after my first 7x7 solve), that I was probably not really fast enough to have a full 7x7 mean done in that 20 min limit, since I had already gotten a 2:43 6x6 mean and a 4:08 or something on my first 7x7 solve, leaving me with under 8 minutes for my last two solves. Under pressure already, I got a 4:06 on the next one, which meant i needed a 3:40 or better to actually get an average, else my last solve would just be DNFed. I kind of solved well under pressure, but for reference, I only had two sub 3:40s ever. Needless to say, I did not make it. I got a 3:53, which would have been PR single, but got DNFed. I had successfully screwed up, getting a DNF mean AND missing PR single and mean in the event I probably cared about most going into the comp, by about 13 seconds across six solves. Frustrated (and hungry, I had missed lunch, and it was past 4pm before I got to eat due to back-to-back rounds), I was really tired and a little dejected the whole rest of the comp. However, looking back at it objectively, I realized that I only need to do a couple things. 1) Change my mindset from "I wish this limit was not 20 mins" to "how do I shave off 10-15ish seconds from both my 6x6 and 7x7 globals so that I am never limited by a cumulative time limit ever again?". 2) Make sure I am well-fed and hydrated at comps, so that I don't get a headache and question my life decisions of skipping the actual lunch in favor of pyra practice (I got pyra PR tho so yay). and 3) Have more of the positive mindset you talked about and make sure I approach this hobby as a series of fun experiences I have the privilege to have, and learn and grow from it as much as I can rather than pushing myself for certain arbitrary successes and being hard on myself if I don't reach them. Thanks for this video and the perspective you provide! I will be sure to say hi at a future comp.
Hey man. First, I'd like to say I'm sorry for your loss. I'd also like to thank you for being so open and honest with your community and fans. It's so refreshing to see people like you caring about other people. It shows a lot about your character. As for my goals for 2025, I'd like to: Sub 10 on 3x3. Lose 40 lbs. Build a savings account. Make it through the next 2 semesters of school with all A's.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend I can’t even imagine the feeling but I’m glad that you were able to get though it. Glad to hear that your mentality is also shifting in a positive way.
Hey Luke- thanks for the candor and I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I have kids your age, and not a day goes by when I don't worry about their state of mind. It sounds like his death has prompted a huge change in perspective. I love cubing; literally can't get enough of the feeling of carrying out new technique successfully. But I also realize that I will never be the fastest. I will, however be setting achievable goals for the new year in honor of your suggestion.
thanks for making this, the not beating yourself up over competitive things is definitely what resonated most with me after watching this - qualify for open water swimming nationals - sub 30 official megaminx avg - help the cubing community by organizing comps - 1600 SAT (2 1590s on practice tests so far) that's all i can think of, but once again thanks for making this video, i think a lot of cubers beat themselves up too much over results and don't focus on the fun of the sport.
Damn Luke, I’m so sorry for all the difficult things you’ve had to endure. This video has opened my eyes to all the hard aspects of life. I wish you good luck in all your goals. This video has taught me to approach things with a more positive mindset, thank you Luke. I am thinking of my goals right now.

hey luke, i’m an aspiring clock solver who hopes to break fwr someday. i recently went to a comp that the night before it started, i considered dropping out of because i felt like i lost the potential to be a fwr holder, but i got it together and decided to go to the comp anyway. clock first round i did pretty mid, but in finals, i dnfed my average and it could have been 3.64 (tied fwr). after that round i beat myself up for a while, but the more i thought about it, the more it gave me hope that i could break fwr someday. but ever since that comp, my sole focus has been on grinding to be the best female clock solver in the world and nothing else. watching this made me remember why i started cubing in the first place: it’s a fun hobby that i enjoy with my whole heart. i have clock rounds in january so hopefully i can get something good there, but i’m not gonna stress about it too much. thank you for making this video and i wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors ❤
Good luck you got this
@ thanks man!
go nj!! remember why you cube and all the best for that FWR :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, you're an amazing person and I hope you win worlds ! ♥️♥️♥️ Have a good 2025 ! 🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉
Hey man. First, I'd like to say I'm sorry for your loss. I'd also like to thank you for being so open and honest with your community and fans. It's so refreshing to see people like you caring about other people. It shows a lot about your character. As for my goals for 2025, I'd like to:
Sub 10 on 3x3.
17:03 You have successfully inspired me and many other cubers, and not just for goals in cubing. You are a legend
I will, however be setting achievable goals for the new year in honor of your suggestion.
thanks for making this, the not beating yourself up over competitive things is definitely what resonated most with me after watching this
- qualify for open water swimming nationals
- sub 30 official megaminx avg
- help the cubing community by organizing comps
- 1600 SAT (2 1590s on practice tests so far)
that's all i can think of, but once again thanks for making this video, i think a lot of cubers beat themselves up too much over results and don't focus on the fun of the sport.
