The biggest caviat to me is that it took so much negative sentiment until they act. Doubling the amount of S3 cards in the reserves feels like something you could have done already months ago... Acting when things are starting to escalate feels toxic.
Sad that the S3 cards will be replaced with the crappy cosmetics once you’re S3 complete. If they were replaced by tokens instead, and extra 300 tokens every 9 caches would add up, and I think help be that bridge for returning players coming back to help get them more of the newer cards faster. Happy for S3 incomplete players, but this update is roughly 1k tokens more a month for a S3 complete player.
@ agreed, I just think ditching the cosmetics for more tokens would have helped the middle group of returning/attritioned players, as well as the endgame players.
As a series 4 complete player who is missing about 20 series 5 cards this does practically nothing for me. It just makes the feel bad hit, feel slightly less bad. I have spent easily over $1k on this game and don’t regret it in anyway but this doesn’t get me wanting to hop back into the game because it just doesn’t “feel” that I get value for my time/money in the game.
Would it feel better if you were 15 cards away from complete, or do you require 10? You aren’t supposed to have every card in the game. I understand your feelings, but this reads like a rich dude complaining about paying taxes.
As a lapsed end game player some extra tokens is fine but I think a grander gesture was required in the interim. I've spent a lot on Snap and I'm tired of having to treat card acquisition as min/max accountancy excercise. The rewards Pokemon Pocket doles via events out feel comparatively more generous.
I think a big issue that was a major problem for the game was flexible series drops, having monthly series drops of old cards dropping down would have been the healthy solution, but it causes an inflation of series 3 cards, and at that point the series 3 cards needed to be acquired faster by newer players or simply older ones be automatically obtained upon reaching series 3,otherwise series would be so inflated it’s ridiculous
My problem is that I've all the series 3 and 4 cards, but not all the series 5. When a new season starts, I have to plan my spotlight keys, but I usually get 1 per week if I play the amount of time I currently play. So, usually, I want the new series 5 card, but if the other 2 cards are cards that I already have, I probably won't get with just 1 spotlight key, and this is just SOOOOO frustrating. I don't care about the cosmetics, so I usually get a variant of a series 5 card I already have and an avatar. I haven't stopped playing yet because I just love the gameplay and Marvel characters, but man, they need to fix this. At least they're doing something, but I have to wait for the complete rebuild of the spotlight because right now it's garbage.
Exactly! I'm in the same position. The idea of the Spotlight was to have 1 best outcome, 2 okay outcomes and 1 bad outcome. But instead it's 3 awful outcomes and 1 good.
Fairly new player here, do you guys know if the collector’s reserve reward is selected when the reserve is earned or opened? I want to know if I should wait to open my reserve until the patch
Unless they changed something recently, it's selected upon opening. I held like 40 for the Series Drops before this most recent one, and pulled all the newly-dropped Series 3 cards within the very first boxes.
As someone S3 complete but who left with ms marvel this doesn’t move the needle for me. And for future changes I can’t picture them doing a change big enough to bring me back. That window was probably 9 months ago. It’s just festered far too long for me.
It is a step in the right direction. A step. Not a leap or a hop, just a step. If the next movement is a hop, ill be happy but if its another step, ill be disappointed.
Really like these changes. I have a pretty high CL but have been really worried about the time it is taking to get S3 complete. And the 2000 tokens is great. Going foward, I would be happy if (1) I could pick the card I wanted and wasn't passing on so many good cards because I don't like the other cache cards, (2) They would not release cache cards the first week of the season, so I didn't have to have to see quite so many cards I can't have
Personally, when im one or two cards away from playing a really fun deck, id like the opportunity to try to get them. I got disheartened when i simply couldn't. I went for going and playing decks that were less fun, but at least i had the cards. Then that deck got nerfed, i pulled cards i didn't want or need with keys.... So i took a break. Man, then i was really in trouble. Even with paying for gold and the play pass. It took me 3 months to get to where i am now. Im grateful that they are making a change. I like the game. I want to play it. I want the season pass. Ill continue ticking over, and wait to see if the new system works for me... Thanks for the update...
"There have been a lot of complaints about the crumbs players receive for grinding our game. We hear you. In response, here's double the crumbs. It's 3X Value."
This is only tangently related, more a thought experiment. How many total series 3 cards do there have to be before new players can receive more than 1 new series 3 card in a reserve? The obvious answer is never (I'm pretty sure this is the right answer). Imagine there comes a point when there's 1000+ series 3 cards. How many collection levels and reserves it will it take for a new player to be Series 3 complete or close to it? How long will it take to get any meta deck?
This doesn't really help me as and end game player or make anything feel less bad but a step in the right direction and I'm happy for the pool 3 gamers.
Should introduce a new cosmetic currency and add a cosmetic tab to the store for those purchases… random cosmetics shouldn’t be a main track reward at any time… then after your series 3 complete those 4 in 9 guaranteed drops should become 2 cosmetic currency and 2 collectors tokens drops to increase the availability of new cards for returning players without over saturation for current meta game players… just a thought…
People who spend money should get a card acquisition boost % or something of the sort when they are missing cards. You still can’t buy all the cards but it would help.
I think announcing concrete changes is a good way to end the year. People were not in a happy place after the OTA and series drop, so this leaves the Christmas break feeling better.
It's sad that this kind of reads like "Oh now that the straw has finally broken the camel's back, I guess we should actually do something" This is nice, but nowhere near bold enough to actually fix things. So will the changes months from now be enough? Will it be too late by then? Who can say
Just get rid of duplicates. Make that option be a random card you don't own. As hard as it is to gain spotlights, it's not like someone will complete their collection just by adding this option.
I think they should make it so when you pull the dupe slot if it’s s4 you get 1500 tokens if it’s s5 you get 3k so you get at least half its value back
Failing to see how this helps me, a player whos done with series 3/4 and has spent hundreds on the game, to come back after a couple months away and not feel like all my purchases have been invalidated and my almost full collection needs topped off again with crazy money spending.
Thanks for the analysis! The token increase in spotlights is welcome, although still less than their expected value. I also like the guaranteed variant. Hopeful for more improvements!
The 2 k token is what I care about as end game player who sometimes whales. This motivates me to for now use the tokens I can to get the new card and save the keys as much as possible for the change.i usually hover around 4 to 8 keys and this realistically makes chaining new cards easier. It also now seems worth it if you open up 3 chests to get the new card to open the 4th. As a new card is worth 6000 tokens. In theory 4 keys is equal to that although the lottery system does effect that 6000 divided by 4 is 1500. So getting 2000 for 1 key for certain is a much better deal. Said as someone who had to make that decision more than once.
It’s a terrible indictment on SD that it took the community going review bombing before they actually did anything at all to address these issues. This card acquisition announcement is a small step in the right direction, but only a small step, and SD do not deserve any credit at this point for acting only when backed into a corner. They need to make further, much more significant improvements, and quickly, and then I think people will start to say credit where credit’s due.
The S3 change seems good for the game but dosent move the needle for me because im S3 complete. The change to 2k tokens is nice but seeing them take the time to make the bandaid change but not go so far as to at least make dupes give enough for an S4 card is off putting imo. It feels like a half measure, even for a band-aid fix. I cannot imagine the planned series drop will meaningfully change my mind given SDs history of not dropping cards that people are interested in so ill probably just contine not playing until their promised full fat fix is here
i just finish the 3s collection and now i find that in free to play its impossible to catch up on 4 and 5 what do you do whit 100 token when i need 6k for a card

nothing much here for me tbh. I left just after surfer came out. tried coming back a few times since but like... the only competitive deck I have is surfer. Get rid of the stupid ticket crap, also I think a practice mode should be in to test decks out with losing cubes etc. especially it would good for new players too. And test what they have just a suggestion 🤷🏽♂️
The series three stuff is pretty good but iim one of those later players. 2,000 tokens is better but is not good. Series 4 needs to be bigger than series 5
These should have done last March honestly. It's some step forward but not enough. 200 Tokens used to be in caches, now only 100 Gold was in conquest shop Completing weekly quest used to get us 500 gold, now 100 Spotlight contains crappy cards that should have downgraded to S3 like daken, miek. F tier cards nobody need Duplicate spotlight caches is one that we try to actively avoid. So.. I it's really a bandaid. They nerfed a lot and buffed a bit.

That's a unique problem. That will be addressed long term, and cannot be fully addressed rn. Too many people at high end levels don't understand they have gotten 60% of the content for free so now when you wager your time vs money . I think snap is most people first gacha
Ngl snap being different is its greatest strength and weakness. - Up the gold so people can hit that 800 in the shop more consistently - make playing infinite worth it - Add Daily log in rewards Or bite the bullet and add The cards to the shop to be individually purchasable.
I'm already in the category of "the economy isn't broken beyond repair, it just needs a good influx of free and cheap stuff," so I'm happy with these temporary measures and curious to see where they go long-term.
- EVERY card series drops after a set time so people can plan their acquisition - 4th spotlight should ALWAYS pull a card you do NOT own or 3k tokens if complete - LAST season pass card should ALWAYS appear in THIS month’s last spotlight
Of all the things i love about Second Dinner, their willingness to not only address the quite part out loud but acknowledging that they need to fix it as well is great. Step in the right direction.
If they want to fix this, they need to calculate the average players losses over the year and add that as compensation, for not making this change sooner. I'm thinking 12,000 tokens sounds about right, seeing as how nearly everyone has pulled at least 6-10 duplicate Series 4/5 cards from the spotlight caches. These players should've gotten double the tokens according to this new quality of life update, so Second Dinner would basically be evening out the damage that's been done. Sadly they won't try and make amends nor did they want to make these changes sooner or announce changes sooner, so this change will do nothing to ease the frustration of the veteran players, and people already thinking of quitting are just going to take this change as a slap to the face, and finally be done with the game.
Thanks for the update. Can't believe the amount of people still moaning in the comments... Yes its frustrating, but at least they have itemized the problems that they are going to address. They have clearly listened.... Personally, i needed to hear that... Wish they'd done it sooner, but at least im getting Elsa Bloodstone for Christmas! Nice.
The moaning is because SD have made promises like this before, and either done the bare minimum or not followed through at all. The biggest caviat to me is that it took so much negative sentiment until they act. Doubling the amount of S3 cards in the reserves feels like something you could have done already months ago... Acting when things are starting to escalate feels toxic.
“Please don’t leave me, I’ll change! 🥺”
Except this isn't a bridge for returning players. It helps existing end game players more than anything.
You should wait
@@sightfortheblindso can i use the credit? Just not openig the boxes?
@@Lifehedge if you mean the loose credits and boosters between the cache boxes, yeah. Claim those, and wait to open the caches until the next patch.
As someone S3 complete but who left with ms marvel this doesn’t move the needle for me. And for future changes I can’t picture them doing a change big enough to bring me back. That window was probably 9 months ago. It’s just festered far too long for me.
You're not series 3 complete. lol
Why are you consuming content and complaining about a game you stopped playing over a year ago?
they’re literally the target audience of the video, the biggest issue snap has is getting people to rejoin after quitting
@@simeon6669 why not? to see if the game have improved?
Sounds like a fucking steal! Here is $99.99 😊
This is only tangently related, more a thought experiment.
I am glad they announced this now, instead of waiting even longer.
It's sad that this kind of reads like "Oh now that the straw has finally broken the camel's back, I guess we should actually do something"
This is nice, but nowhere near bold enough to actually fix things. So will the changes months from now be enough? Will it be too late by then? Who can say
i am at cl 1600 so would it make sense to not open the caches till the update is live?
Correct
Yes, more variants. I'll take whatever pittance they can muster
Little too late for me now. I wanna buy this battle pass because I just want galacta even if I don’t wanna play her I just want the card.
I cannot imagine the planned series drop will meaningfully change my mind given SDs history of not dropping cards that people are interested in so ill probably just contine not playing until their promised full fat fix is here
Seems like a move in the right direction. Definitely saving my caches for the next month.
havent played since last diner cant keep up with these battle passes and missing cards for a fun deck
i see these as temporary until they think of something better
theyre okay changes, but not great
i just finish the 3s collection and now i find that in free to play its impossible to catch up on 4 and 5 what do you do whit 100 token when i need 6k for a card
Any change is better than no change. At least maybe this shows they are listening to us.
Okay for new players, but we who are in the grind nada(nothing), second dinner have to stop be greed and put 3000 tokens for dupes and get rid of the stupid golden tickets !!!!
I like it. Hopefully the series drop is good & the final fix is really good. 🤞
This patch goes live the day after my birthday, this can either be an absolute gift or another disappointment
nothing much here for me tbh. I left just after surfer came out. tried coming back a few times since but like... the only competitive deck I have is surfer. I have no great plug and play cards like Nico and the like and I can't be bother to slog through the game playing only a single deck long enough to accrue a bunch of keys and hope my playtime lines up with a chase card in the caches, so I'll stay out for now
Sorry for asking but are we going to be given extra 1k tokens for all the spotlight we already opened with tokens on them?
No
Get rid of the stupid ticket crap, also I think a practice mode should be in to test decks out with losing cubes etc. especially it would good for new players too. And test what they have just a suggestion 🤷🏽♂️
So if I’m getting tokens in lieu of a Series 3 card since I’m already complete, would this mean i’ll now get tokens at a faster rate as well?
No. Reference the second image I talk about at the end.
The series three stuff is pretty good but iim one of those later players. 2,000 tokens is better but is not good. Series 4 needs to be bigger than series 5
These should have done last March honestly. It's some step forward but not enough.
200 Tokens used to be in caches, now only 100
Gold was in conquest shop
Completing weekly quest used to get us 500 gold, now 100
Spotlight contains crappy cards that should have downgraded to S3 like daken, miek. F tier cards nobody need
Duplicate spotlight caches is one that we try to actively avoid. So.. I it's really a bandaid.
They nerfed a lot and buffed a bit.
Ah no point were you getting 500 gold a week from the weekly quests. That's insane
Progress is progress. Not going to fix it, but glad they are doing a little something.
should be 3000 tokens which worth at least one S4 card
💯
Hi jeff, that it means, for thouse who has completly the S3 like me, that we are going to be recieving more tokens from regular caches?
I mean, instead of recieving more s3 cards in the regular caches, we recieve more tokens, right?
Too late for band aid solution. :(
They need to lower the token cost. 6k tokens is ridiculous. 3k-4k at most feels fair
"Make everything free" is a common suggestion that ends up with SNAP dying fully.
He said lower the cost not make it free.
@@daves8873 yes and making every card cost half as much means that you get every card that isn't in the season pass for free the way the economy is currently structured.
@@JeffHoogland i believe people will spend when you are more generous, you get what you give. At one point this game was more like that and they made a ton. I personally spent more on this game than any other game I had played, and they continued to make the game more expensive and I spent less and less I’ve pretty much quit.
Jeff i have a feedback....kindly try zooming in the content..so that it be readable to gamers while u explain.. love u❤
Can you make a video about the reduced variants aquisition rate for S3 complete (-16.66%) in the new system? As someone that is 12 cards away from S3 complete, these change makes me extremely angry and pushes me to uninstall.
The double tokens is huge 😮
I don't think players realize how big an impact that is. As an end game player who started in the beta and bought every season pass, i am going to get extremely close to collection complete without spending any extra money.
It is huge but to be fair it just brought us back in the beginning state when spotlight caches were introduced where s5 isnt that bloated. But definitely a huge step towards the right direction, hopefully they soon find a fix.
People don't realize how AMAZING these changes are. Most are still mad for other reasons including resource management and some form of avarice. But that's just humans for you
remove dublicates, and do DECENT rotations and good drops, and it would feel good untill they fix it all together
Make everything free is a common suggestion that won't happen yes
@HooglandiaSnap im not saying making everything free, im saying since It takes Forever to make 4 caches when i use them i wish It would not feel terribile cause i have 1 new card and 2 series 4 and One duplicate, make card comeback more often and not gatekeep them for months cause they re good
Removing duplicates means for average variance everything is free.
That is semi great but in the right direction!
Its an ok start tbh
This patch does nothing. The problem for me is two bad cards, one great card, only having three keys and not getting the new card
That's a unique problem.
That will be addressed long term, and cannot be fully addressed rn.
Too many people at high end levels don't understand they have gotten 60% of the content for free so now when you wager your time vs money .
I think snap is most people first gacha
You're not supposed to pull for new cards when you have fewer than 4 keys
Ngl snap being different is its greatest strength and weakness.
- Up the gold so people can hit that 800 in the shop more consistently
- make playing infinite worth it
- Add Daily log in rewards
Or bite the bullet and add
The cards to the shop to be individually purchasable.
I'm already in the category of "the economy isn't broken beyond repair, it just needs a good influx of free and cheap stuff," so I'm happy with these temporary measures and curious to see where they go long-term.
Too little too late.
Feels too little too late
- EVERY card series drops after a set time so people can plan their acquisition
- 4th spotlight should ALWAYS pull a card you do NOT own or 3k tokens if complete
- LAST season pass card should ALWAYS appear in THIS month’s last spotlight
Useless 1k to 2k tokens change.
Given even this small change isn’t happening until next month, I think it’s perfectly reasonable for people to still be pretty sceptical about whether the issues set out will actually be addressed and in a reasonable timeframe.
@@jaybear7272 I'm sorry, yes, people have a right to express themselves. And we have a lot to moan about. Paying to be frustrated, and seeing the lure of money with new season cards had created what we are in now. But, I feel this is a genuine attempt at recovering. If not, after this statement, the people will simply leave the game. I'm surprised I'm still here. I thought more people would be happy for them to make this statement. Recreating the card acquisition, without breaking the game IS going to take time, like it or not... What else can they say?
@ that’s the million dollar question, isn’t it. Is it a genuine attempt at recovery? It took players review bombing just to get this small step, so I think it’s fair to be sceptical. But time will tell!
@@jaybear7272 it was quite a show... If they don't listen, they deserve what they get. Shame it took this, yes... Imagine the pressure at the top? I wouldn't want their job.... I hope it works out, I really like the game...
I lost the gamba at the spotlight cache so Marvel Snap lost a player.
