how sad they don't have the usual aperture ring , having that one would make this lens an absolute wonder! :) To be honest? I would love to see your screen closer and look at the noise and detail. Next time perhaps? Thanks Damian, and greetings from Uruguay.
Seems like we get a new 50-56mm APSC prime every month now. If only they would be a good overall package… this one looks phenomenal, but the out of focus transitions look terrible, as if you use that blur brush in Photoshop. I’m honestly tempted to just go with that old 56 1.2, despite the slow AF, it has by far the best bokeh and that’s what matters for an 85mm. How would you say does it hold up against the new cheap stuff?
Good contrast, but it's a bit soft wide open. And it's only APS-C. $240 USD for the Sony version... but I'd rather spend that on the Samyang 50/1.2 manual which CAN cover a full frame image circle, with some vignetting. I guess, good for AF shooters that China is stepping up, but I'd rather see small, weather-sealed, manual lenses, like the Tokina Firin. If I can find one that'll be my next lens. Not that small, but f2 and 20mm. And pretty sure weather sealed. Give me Samyang APS-C manual primes, updated for full frame, and sealed. 21/1.4. 35/1.4. 50/1.2. 85/1.8. Sexiest bunch of lenses still.
Seems rather large. And looking it up, it’s the same weight as the Fuji 56/1.2 WR. Between that size, the lack of an aperture ring, that’d probably be a non-starter, but the value proposition just doesn’t look great, either. A bit pricier, and not particularly better, than a lot of similar lenses.
...traveling and might be veeery over-tired.
Cheers, Damo.

Saludos!!!
Glad I got the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens before the price went up.
Decent lens!!

The original 56mm still holds the magic crown for me, Fujifilm wise.
Rock and roll 🎸 🤘
You know it
