Hi Rachel, today I visited my sister in the nursing home. Level 2 lockdown, temp taken, wear a mask , 1 hour only, 1 person only, don’t touch anything, & no physical contact. Difficult when you just want to hug her. But, did it all by the book. Took along deli paper & sharpie alcohol pens to have a go at this if I ran out of yak yak yak. Did a little bit of the faux washi ( a teeny tiny bit) showed & explained what I was doing. How fantastic was the result! So thank you so much. I’ve tried a lot of ways to make faux washi in the past , this has been the great success! 😀

I never thought to use tracing paper to make washi tape!! I've made it with tape, but then it's shiny. This is a great idea!!

I was skeptical at first, but when I saw you use it-wow, looks great. I might try omitting the double-sided tape and using a glue stick instead. Thanks for the lesson!

Oh dear Rachel, I went right to my craft room to do this challenge but I must confess it didn't go as well as your tutorial. I was fine until I got to the double sided tape. Maybe I had a bad brand but it was an impossible struggle to remove the top paper part from the sticky part. After about 20 minutes of trying I gave up. I decided to try my glue stick and that seemed to work just fine. Not sure if it's the same as washi tape but it's the best I could do. It was so much fun designing the tape though. Thank so much!

Oh, the laces in Burano… so incredible…. But yes, the Chinese take over of kiosk souvenirs in Venice, glass and lace is disappointing…. You do have to search for authentic artisans… what a wonderful walk down memory lane and an inspiring challenge… I wonder how this would work on ‘office’ supply, clear label paper (full sheet)… gotta try that…

I've seen others make faux washi, but none of them were as much fun. Gayle used up all of hers Saturday making things and they were gorgeous! She even made more strips because she liked them so much.
Sounds like getting lost in Venice would be fun except for the tired feet! 😊 I learn so much living vicariously through you Rachel. You are so great at describing things and places and food... see you tomorrow then!

Yes, yes, I definitely need more mark making videos lol. My favorite of yours is the leaves, mine look awful. My favorite of mine so far is using pieces of an old box to make lines and then using non used bread ties to make smaller lines in a different color to make interesting grid patterns.

I can explain the pizza!!!!!!! I just spent 4 months in Croatia. I have the same issue... I don't like the food except homemade food and fish. The pizza tastes funny because they use- as the Italians do as well I think- gouda as their main cheese, wherein America and prob everywhere else there is "American style pizza" we use mozzarella. THATS why it tastes funny. If the burgers taste funny its bc they mix pork and beef instead of 100% beef. You can ask for mozz pizza though and beef burgers and they taste fine.

If I understand well. You buy this specific markers just to make identical colours and mark making as in video of Roxy!!??? I wish to everybody use this idea and make it yours. That is whole point of this sort of project. I always repeat *release your inner artist. Sometimes I do jelly print and it looks like rubbish. But than I see one peace like no bigger than 10x5cm and i cut just that peace and keap it for collage that I make. And it fets perfectly. Don't copy just be your self and you be surprised. Happy creating. Don't hord art material 😂. ❤❤❤
