This was a neat idea. It reminded me of when I was a little girl we would use the Sunday comics or a comic book and lay a piece of wax paper, wax side down, over a picture and scratch the surface and it would lift the picture off the paper. You could then lay it down on a plain sheet of paper and scratch again and it would print it onto the new paper. Thanks for that old old memory.
What a lovely memory! Sunday comics were a delight for my brother and me in the 60s as well. But I don't think we ever used the creative transfer idea! Thanks for sharing.
@@annekenlon Well Anne, I am a lot older than you so I would imagine by the 60's it had gone out of vogue. I was doing this back in the 40's. LOL BTW, I just bought the glue and tips (those fine ones), the glue brand is called Craft Glue by Oycevila. I don't know if that is the same glue or not, but I am having a difficult time squeezing the bottle. Do you dilute this to make it easier? I have RA so I don't have a lot of strength in my hands.
Glad you found it, too! Yes, I've not purchased wash ever since I started doing this technique. It works so perfectly, especially on thin and old paper. I love it for old handwriting!
Great idea to create faux washi take. I am very impressed with the fact you are keeping your videos down in the 30-minute mark. I love to watch longer videos too, but when people spend the majority of the time just showing me how to cut and then begin to glue in an assembly line 20 things I end up skipping a lot because it is so repetitive for at least 30 to 40 minutes. Thank you for keeping that in mind. I'm also really enjoying the fact that you are using literally junk which is where the idea for a junk Journal came from, instead of a lot of purchased things to print out or buy in the store. And since I don't have a printer I am loving what you are showing.
You are giving me such welcome feedback - thank you! Yes, I like to shoot for a half hour - that's usually long enough for me to squeeze in an idea or two, and I'm glad to know it works well for you, too! And like you, I really enjoy using old-school original materials instead of buying or printing new stuff - for me, it's much more fun (and green) that way!
I love this…and I believe if you were to soak them in water the paper would come off and the print would stay on the tape and I think it will be sticky again. I’ve seen it done with packing tape before. So fun though.
I did receive some of this several years ago from a couple of girls from the Philippines. I thought it was wonderful, it was before i had ever saw washi tape. Great video, thank you😊
It's funny you mention the book you tossed since I'm always having to be careful what I use from really old books as well. I love the really old pages already being distressed/ foxed, BUT I always have to thoroughly scan every single page because there can really been some objectionable content from time to time that I definitely don't want ending up on a card or journal page. Same thing with dictionary and thesaurus pages. Gotta make sure there's nothing inappropriate.
Isn't that the truth! Sometimes I am shocked at the content in old history books - outright racism - I have no problem at all throwing those books out, out out! Fortunately there is plenty of wonderful content we can craft with, too! Thanks for being vigilant!
Thanks for the tip Anne, had fun while watching your video. Worked a treat, even though I only had shiny tape, I have put strips of masking tape on baking paper and stamped on it create strips of interest for collage, easy to remove. love from Australia.
Vilma, muchas gracias por este amable comentario. ¡A mí también me gusta encontrar artículos decorativos fáciles sin tener que gastar dinero! Gracias por mirar.
I love this, what a great idea. I brought a magazine and matte tape with me to work to try at lunch time. I wonder if it would work to leave the tape on the page and peel off when you're ready to use it? This way you could still make some ahead of time and they would store easier? Or maybe put them in a mixed media book to flatten out after peeling them off?
This looks great!! Have you tried storing on an inside cover of a binder, on a page protector, or anything non porous? This is going to be fun to play with.
Wow! This is one of those ideas that makes one say “why didn’t I think of that!” Thank you Anne for this simple and easy peasy way to make washi tape! I assume the tape with still take to the paper if we use Tim Holtz distress inks or coffee dye the pages first! I’m trying your method out as soon as I get home from the office! Thank you & have a fabulous day!
Cherri, you’re the best with all these great thoughts! Yes, I used the technique just today on a book page with lots of distress ink on it and it picked up both the text and color just fine. Every pull is different. I kinda can’t get enough of it!
@@annekenlon hi Anne happy to hear that! I was in my craft room the moment I got home mass making these! My hubby had to come looking for me and ask about dinner! 😂😂😂 I’m going to have to binge watch your past videos being a fairly new subscriber! Hugz💖
I love this..thank you. How about using double sided tape with one side on a shiny surface to just make a sticker..I thought about trying to see if that would work.
Thank you! I'm charmed that you're in Cornwall. I have visions of Doc Martin striding purposefully through the streets...or Ross Poldark brooding as he stares out to sea! Thanks for watching!
Just wondering if you lightly dusted the back of the strips with powder or cornstarch or laid them out on parchment paper to store them. Just a thought. Thanks for the clever idea.
Thanks, Diane! I made several of those little booklets a few years ago and they're super handy. I wasn't making videos then, but I'd be happy to make a video if you'd like to see it. It's sort of an unusual process, actually. Thanks for the idea, I'll put it on the list!
Thanks for ideas to decorate my bass guitar music books. The bass clef, just by itself, is deep and boring. And those dotted quarter notes! So "in between" and wishy-washy!
I like the way you are experimenting as you go😊
Definitely experimenting! Thanks, Suzy!

this was really fun & different! (and easy) Thank you so much! first time I've seen your channel - I liked & subscribed :D
Love the idea! I especially like the idea of picking up just a word or two!
Of course I was really thinking of you with "volunteer"!!!

Interesting technique.
Love this idea! You can stick the pieces to clear acetate to store them and store in a binder or folder.
Great idea! Thanks for watching!

What a neat idea to use regular old scotch tape! Love how the card turned out. Thanks so much!
That is cool. Such a simple thing. Why didn’t I think of this. Thank you.
Really cool idea!
Thanks! Have fun with your tape!

Loved this idea and I’m running with it. 😂❤. Shared you on my channel. ❤️. I love that it’s so convenient 🙏🏻🕊🌈❤️💯
Awesome! Thank you so much - and yes, it's ever so convenient!
Great results this is new to me never seen before 😊😊
Seen similar technique using tape and magazine and soaking in water to make nail decals
How about using a bone folder or a spoon to get a better adhesion of the tape to paper? Bet that might help!!
Thanks, Cathleen, and yes, I've been doing that lately, too!
I'm gonna give this a try 😊
Thanks, Terri - you'll love how easy it is!
Fantastic tip! Can't wait to try this 💛

Super great idea about the powder - thanks!
Did you make the little book you were decorating? It looks very interesting but l couldn’t find a video of you making it.

And I would like 2 no, where to find that tape.
Should be available at any office supply store or grocery store - or online. Scotch tape.
Thanks for ideas to decorate my bass guitar music books. The bass clef, just by itself, is deep and boring. And those dotted quarter notes! So "in between" and wishy-washy!
Go for it, my brother! Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Maybe keep your washi tapes on some wax paper
Now that's a great idea! Thank you so much!
