Hey Doug, I noticed in the film that when editing a waypoint and change their names, when you click on a character you see the new character so you can select the new one.
I have a HUMMINBIRD 998 c HD SI and does not happen that way. When I am moving the cursor from name to box name (ex: WP001) it (the full name) disappears and in box appears an empty square which would be a character but with no visible character.
When I click on this square is changing shape but I do not see any character (letter or number), but it change initially character without see at what character I arrived to know where to stop.
Only after I am moving the cursor to the right and after passing through all the characters that name may have (11 characters), I see how changed the original character.
Meaning I can change the name of a waypoint but without seeing the changed characters only after going through all 11 characters.
To arrive at a name that I want I have to make many attempts until I guess the characters that I want.
Is there any possibility to make visible changed characters as I seen in the movie? Thank you.
get video. was wondering after you set waypoint how do you pick that point and how to do set unit to go to that point
Im from fl and buying a used boat that has 899si on dash and helix 10 on trolling mtr.Should I clear all waypoints?

Hey Doug why can I only store 50 or so waypoints on my helix 5, after roughly 50 it says cannot store to navionics card but if I press the bottom 2 or 3 times it will say successful or it will say can not store or something like that. Do I have a setting wrong maybe? It says I can store up to 2500 waypoint and 45 tracks but only at 2 small tracks maybe 50 waypoints
DO NOT save to Navionics Card. Waypoints need to be saved to the internal memory not Map Card.
which key are you tapping on to type the letters on the way points Doug.

I have deleted the Helix fishfinders ordinal ACU file off the SD card. But doing that i was able to converted the ACU file onto the hummingbird PC though into a hummingbird file for the mapping. But now it doesn't show my data on my helix after doing this?.... its gone. so Is there a way to get the humminbird file back into the ordinal ACU file so I can but it back onto the SD card and be able see my mapping, colour water depth etc. back on my helix so ill be able to see my old data again for the mapping on my helix without doing the lake master part..... any advice would big a big help. TIA Ian.
Any way to connect a laptop computer to a Solix 10 to manage waypoints or other data? Arthritis in fingers makes it a long process. GREAT videos, I have learned a lot watching. Keep'em coming!

I have a 1199 and a 858, if i link them together and i have the Lakemaster 4.0 in the 1199 at my console and i make a waypoint will it show up on my 858 on the bow even tho i dont have a card in it? TIA

All GPS data is in Lat/Lon there are different formats and you can change the setting to match the format inside the unit
Hey Doug, I have been trying to add waypoints from a map to my 1198 and even tried to switch the map datum within the unit and still the Lat and Lon do not make any sense. Numbers are missing still????
+Paul Govensky There are different GPS Formats too like dd.ddddd, dd mm ss and dd mm.mm that you need to convert too or switch the format of the waypoints you want to enter.
Ok Doug, These are from lake Guntersville. The datum is NAD 27, the grid are:
34 25 469 86 22.810
34 25 285 86 21.280
These are just a few of them..are you saying that I can input these exactly like this without having NAD 27 within the HB unit???
Page 166 in the 1198c Operators Manual tells you the available "Position Formats" for waypoints. You must match the Position Format to the waypoints you are enetering or convert them with a GPS Conversion Program to match the formats
Hey Doug, My sonars are shutting down when I am trying to go through the different screens. They were working perfectly until I was caught in a real bad storm in Seminole this past weekend. I've been going through the wiring making sure that all was dry and not loose. I've checked the fuses also. I did wire it to the hot side of the harness up front. I have already written HB on this issue just waiting for a reply.
I have a Humingbird Helix 5 SI GPS. I cannot figure out how to Navigate to a Waypoint using the "Bird's Eye View Screen" that shows my boat (Icon), route to the waypoint, distance from Waypoint, speed, time to Waypoint, etc. The Operator's Manual shows the screen picture that I want but no directions as to how to get to that screen. Please Help.
How do you have the chart orientation set? North Up, Heads Up or Course Up. I would use heads up or course up to make it easier
What if the lake or river your fishing is not on Lakemaster lakes?

Thank you, I watch lot's of your video's on you tube on hummingbird settings tips and tricks, I have learned lots thank to you and your video's! I just bought the new hummingbird 1199ci HDSI I am leaning how to use it.
Humminbird you don't have to adjust Gain. The Unit does it for you. They are smart units and that is something you shouldn't have to adjust.
You don't show what key button you are clicking on to the right? It's out of the view! I know how to move the arrow, buy don't know how to select, and can't see how you are doing it, because you don't show the buttons!!!
Hard to capture the extreme brightness of the screen and the key pad at the same time. I try to tell which keys I'm hitting. Up/down and over are all 4 way functions
