For example those power ridges are designed to push specific points so your teeth move in one specific way. Moving your teeth back also requires pushing specific but of course different points. If you just wear your aligners in reverse they do push somewhere but as they aren't designed to work in reverse you have no control where they push so it is unlikely that you push the correct points.
