The divide in society over the question of anthropogenic global warming is exactly the same divide as that of the politics of left and right. Simply put, everybody understands that the only solutions to AGW are all collective in nature, and since one side of the political divide view any and all forms of collectivism as socialism aka communism, they *CHOOSE* to deny that the problem that requires the collective action to solve it actually exists.

What everybody who is earnest about climate change will tell you - in case you care to listen - is that it is not only the change itself but the SPEED of the change that is worrysome. What you mention and what I listed changed over the course of thousands of years. What we are seeing right now will change within a 100 or maybe 150 years. Also, and probably more exasperated by the fact that there isn't some kind of invisible cordon in the skies above the likes of china and russia preventing their massive pollution from seeping out despite people here basically acting as if there is. This is essentially nimbyism so china can continue to do what they do, paid for by the people who can least afford it. I do believe it was damaged but no way to the extent lead to believe back then, I think it's because thoses in government and the bunch of gov backed scientists around them have said so much in the near past what hasn't come to pass leaving many in doubt to what such orgsnisations say in the future like in the term "fool me once fool me twice but not a third time" I personally do believe we have a issue but again the seriousness I believe is blown far out of proportio. What i do know is the earth can heal from anything destructive we throw at it considering we are just another existence on it as in "the plate cant be broken but the food can always be replaced wether by going bad only to rot away as in self harm or be cleared away by the actual eater alone" hmm but yeh great debate

How about you name those doom-mongers and list the publications where they sold that doom... if you do that, you will learn a very valuable lesson about what science actually said and what people 50 years later are claiming science was saying. Here's a hint to get you going: the scientific consensus in 1970 was that the earth was warming and would continue to warm as a result of human activity.

depends on who you ask ....The climate crisis is becoming a financial crisis.
This month, the largest homeowner insurance company in California, State Farm, announced that it would stop selling coverage to homeowners. That’s not just in wildfire zones, but everywhere in the state.
Insurance companies, tired of losing money, are raising rates, restricting coverage or pulling out of some areas altogether - making it more expensive for people to live in their homes
“Risk has a price,” said Roy Wright, the former official in charge of insurance at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and now head of the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety, a research group. “We’re just now seeing it.”
In parts of eastern Kentucky ravaged by storms last summer, the price of flood insurance is set to quadruple. In Louisiana, the top insurance official says the market is in crisis, and is offering millions of dollars in subsidies to try to draw insurers to the state.
And in much of Florida, homeowners are increasingly struggling to buy storm coverage. Most big insurers have pulled out of the state already, sending homeowners to smaller private companies that are straining to stay in business - a possible glimpse into California’s future if more big insurers leave.

People always go for the cheaper option. If the governments make green tech financially attractive to the peoples pocket whatever side of the debate you sit is irrelevant.
Affordability is why most people buy what they buy. Green technologies need a viable business model that will be successful. If it is right people will buy into it regardless and without over thinking it.
