I like the “deliberate” magazine release of my Delta M model. I have accidentally released the mag on my CZ P 10s once. I find the M model to be the perfect size for conceal carry. Thin, light, can get a full grip and shoots wonderful. Just added a Holosun 407k green dot but haven’t had a chance to shoot with it.
Just got my delta 2.0m, I have had problems with pistols in the past accidentally dropping the mags. I personally love the mag buttons on this, for my hands the mag is easy to release intentionally. Grip ergos are similar to the P99/PPQ, fits my hand like a glove but slimmer and lower bore axis than my Walthers.
I have the L and love it. Still breaking it in, but I have had no failures in a more than 300rds. I’ve seen a lot of comments on the mag release being stiff and requiring a more deliberate push, but I would argue the stiffness is only really present with a full mag. Not sure about anyone else, but I’m not as concerned about dropping a full mag quickly. I have had zero issues, with no significant effort, dropping an empty mag.
Beretta, Sig, Grand Power, Styer all have modular/removable assemblies. I want to honorably mention that I think the Ruger sr22 Taurus tx22 and Bersa BP9cc also have removable chassis. You can usually tell by the serial number being recessed into the frame on a separate piece of metal rather than being on a flush metal plate pressed into the polymer. For comparison look at the serial under your trigger guard on your Delta and compare it to a glocks.
The delta M is my first AREX pistol, i now own 5, my M has 2500 rounds through it and it runs like a swiss watch, i absolutely love it, PPP Pure Polymer Perfection, will be adding the L and X tactical to my collection soon, AREX ROCKS.
Great review, I like it, your comments help a lot. We are all rookies with the exception of Fieldcraft Survival, War Poet Society, Mr. Gunsgear, Irak veteran 8888, Nutnfancy, etc.
I just picked up my M from the FFL just now, 3 P.M. July 20, 2021. The problem was the mag release is so recessed, that I had to use my finger nail to get it to release. There will be no problem with the magazine falling out. I will be looking for a magazine button replacement for arex delta 2. Also bought the Holosun 407 X2 series to put on it. Other than the mag release, I say it's Bad Ass!!!
I carry the Delta L with a small backstrap, as well as a S&W M&P9 5” with the small backstrap, and they both point just as naturally as my beloved 1911s.
Is this a good a gun for a first time buyer like myself ???? I seen one the other day and wanted to some research first and yours helped out a lot as well. Thanks
I just got mine, and I am having a lot of issues with the 17 round magazine ejecting. The 19 round magazine ejects fine, but the 17 round magazine requires a lot of effort to get it out. Anyone else having that problem?
I would like you to release the mag on mine. It require some pressure to release, like the spring is strong. Maybe some releases are tighter than others.
Hey brother we can use another update and your .40 video. I know you're likely busy with your work load. Just found you, and am interested in more video's for sure!
My new "X" model I took home a few days ago had a big problem dropping the included 17rd mag when loaded, with the slide forward. Whether full, or just a few rounds in the mag, it took 30+ Ft-Lbs to drop. I tested my two 19rd mags, which were not as bad, but still not great; far more force than what I can generate with my primary thumb. I had already ordered the extended mag release for it, so I thought it might solve the problem...nope! And as an aside, that was a difficult swap (I have 30 years building guns and doing trigger jobs, including AKs, ARs and P80s)...I would not suggest doing a swap yourself to an extended release unless you have some gunsmithing and tool making skills (you'll need a spring tool, which I made out of a small flathead by using a dremmel cutoff wheel; notching a spring holding divet on the edge of the blade). I definately would suggest upgrading the extended mag button (right or left, not the one that is extended on both sides)...It upgrades the mag function to what most of us USA shooters would consider "normal" size and travel for a mag release. I planned on polishing the top of the mag catch, which interfaces with the mag cut out, and see if that helped the mag drop issue, but decided instead to break in the mags and release with reps. 400+ reps and two hours later, I got the 17rd working reliably. I incrementally added a round, did 30 cycles, added another round, etc, etc. Lots of work, including a blister, but it payed off! Even though I have XL-Wide hands, I settled on the small grip insert...it feels better than my 1911s! Added an RMR; easy install. Fits my Glock 19 holsters, even without a light. I absolutely love everything about this gun!
Just letting ya'll know. If you plan on doing the extended mag release replacement, just take out the entire inner assembly. There's very minimum room if you don't. And the entire inner assembly is held on by 2 large pins. That's it. You will save yourself hours of work and frustration. Once you get the stock mag release out, get the pin through the locking plate and spring. And then take your time and set the spring by pushing the bar that's sticking out to the far left with a small flat-tip screwdriver. I just literally wasted 3 hours when I finally stopped being stubborn and it took almost 15 minutes.
I have the Grey delta x and yea the mag releases much easier when empty for mag changes, but it is a bitch to release with a full or half mag. Not sure why. It's much easier to release the mag if you push on thr bottom of the mag while pressing the release
Has anyone else noticed the HK VP9-like "feature" where the slide releases from lock-back when inserting a new magazine? whenever I slap a new mag in, the slide goes into battery without me touching the slide release lever similar to the way the VP9 functions. Some call this a malfunction, but others call it a "feature".
Yup, watch that video with 2 cops and bad guy with AR pistol. While bad guy is beating down one cop, other cop accidentally drops magazine from his gun...oops. I just wonder if he had a magazine release extension on that.
What? Wait. How can this be? I've read comments telling me that this pistol is superior to the Sig P 226 [ in spite of it not being adapted by any military units in the North American continent ]. But it has an issue with the mag release? Well.
I just bout mine and the mag release button and it’s terrible, I’ve been trying to buy the extension and every time I put my adress it says “unavailable in your region” would u sell me your magazine release?
How about I just mail it to you free of charge? I’m getting a new email address set up, I’ll let you know what it is and we can arrange to have it shipped to you.
I have a black X model for a month shot 200 rounds through it it's very thin feels very good in the hand shoots and has handled well has been accurate and reliable so far l really like it does it have the absolute best magazine release absolutely not but l can honestly say it works for me without any problems would it be a good magazine release for competition no but if you get use to it it's not the end of the world you can eject magazines fine if you train with it would a raised release magazine button be better yes so far mine has been flawless the trigger is very good and has a short reset to me simular to my friends H&K VP9
Ok, kinda funny - I was on vacation, stopped in an LGS (local gun store), saw this sexy "jagged" lookin mofo and was like "ooooh". Full disclosure - I am the "Non Glock" guy. Been issued several, owned several, now I own NONE and only use them if a job makes me. I use a CZ P10c. I also run an M&P 2.0 Compact. I've looked at VP9's, PPQ's. Basically ANYTHING that works like a Glock but ain't one. So I hold this slender, angry lookin fighter and notice the price tag $775. I dry fire it, check the reset and think "ok, guess it makes sense, this shit's on another level, 775 seems high but it SHOULD be more than the others". Then I Google it and find out it is sub 500?!?!?! Now, I'm really looking at em. Side note - for all my "F Glock" rhetoric, I had to buy pistols for my children, pistols they might need to trusts their lives to. The girl got a G48, the boy a Gen 5 G19 MOS. I might not like them (Glocls not my kids) but I know I can count on them.
How did you purchase the grip module straight from Arex? Every time I've tried purchasing it I get a "Sorry our products are not available in your region" popup.
Weird. I just went to the Arex webstore where I purchased and now I can’t even find the grip module. As far as them not selling to particular regions, I have no idea but I’m in Nevada and didn’t have any issues.
Well, I also wanted the darn magazine to release when I release it, but it wouldn't because the release button is flushed to the gun itself. So, your comment is illiterate and useless. Sorry....💯💯💯👍👍🤣🤣

I have the X model and I agree with every point you've made. Mine has had no issues thus far. I like it quite a bit. 👍
Beretta APX is modular.
Mag release is perfect as is for a carry/ duty gun.
I can't believe I forgot about the Beretta!
Great video for a newbie…..Keep it going my 2A brother……👍🏽👍🏽

Another modular systems would be Beretta APX series and Steyr M9 if I'm not mistaken.
Well that settles it. I need a microphone! Sorry about the overall quality here...
LOL

I am. Its near impossible to get a full mag to release.
I like the fact that it requires a deliberate push to pop the mag.
If they made a version in 40, I'd buy one. Another one that is.
I have the m model in gray shot 60 rounds not a single malfunction of any kind
That is the one I am looking at - grey "M". Glad to hear yours is doing well, so far.
Savage Arms Stance MC9 has a modular chassis system.
Replacing the module is as simple as can be. It is the mag release that is incredibly difficult to replace.
I would like you to release the mag on mine. It require some pressure to release, like the spring is strong. Maybe some releases are tighter than others.

Arex, sig, beretta and IWI all have modular systems where the FCU is swappable
Steyr was the 1st to come out with a modular system. They was going to sue sig over the p320.
Does your mag button wiggle a little when the magazine is fully inserted?
No wiggle when mag is out.
