It's holding up really well and I'm glad I made this - drawers can be a bit tight to begin with so I'd recommend making them a little smaller width wise so they don't catch the sides, although I used some machine wax on mine and they run smoothly. Good luck with the build - let me know how you get on.
Well done. I really like the tilting drawer idea. I just binge watched all of your content and subscribed. Great work! Ideas for future builds: table saw sled, custom made table saw push sticks/push shoes, simple router table, simple household furniture piece, wooden helmet, replicas of George Washington’s teeth, a wooden robot dog- the possibilities are endless!
lol, nice suggestions on the future builds..I've definitely got a router table, table saw sled and also my first hardwood build for a hallway entrance table coming soon. Appreciate the sub @Dominick_Francione - thank you!
I really like your workflow Adam. A really enjoyable watch and something I may have to try. I’d probably create a template and then use the router I’m going to house in the cabinet to cut the channels 🙂from another woodworker in his shed (garage) somewhere in the English countryside
Thanks for watching my video @michaeldullaway746 and sorry for the slow reply! I did miss a trick not using my router to make at least some parts of this - the thing still scares me to be honest so I need to practice more :-) I'm based in Berkshire, where abouts are you out of curiosity?
This is definitely a nice and simple pull down drawer! Il definitely give it a go, when i tackle my french cleat aswell. Thanx for sharing Adam, congratulations on passing 400 subscribers, im a new subscriber 🤗... i like ur editing, im definitely learning a thing or 2
Thanks @shawwoodworkingdiy, I'm now a subscriber to your channel too - love your positivity and like me the fact woodworking takes you away from the stresses and strains of daily life :-) I like the crosscut sled you built recently, I'm designing one at the moment and will have a build video on that soon.
Thanks @thefilthelement, I appreciate that! My mission is to grow this channel and for now my guiding principles are authenticity and adding value. The fact that anyone would want to build something I've made is humbling to me so I'm more than happy to share my plans for free :-)
Thanks! I learned a lot on this build but it came out alright in the end. Looks like a shed tour is a popular idea so I'm making plans to do a video on that very soon.
Appreciate that @andrewmartin9728! What do you think of the router? I like it but I find the twist height adjustment frustrating sometimes as I keep moving it whilst in use...probably user error more than anything.
I'm going to be 321st subscriber. Keep on! Nice work. I would rather screw a nylon sleeve instead of gluing dowel, just in case You'd like to disassemble the drawer, and nylon sleeves slide better.
Congrats on being number 321 @patmos72 - seeing the subscriber count go up is overwhelming for me so I'm grateful! I didn't even know nylon sleeves were a thing so I'm going to google that and find out more - I agree the dowel is a permanent leap of faith with this build! thanks for the idea :-)
Thanks @chrisb2443, appreciate that! I'd reduce the width of the drawers by a few mil next time as they do catch occasionally - I've put some wax on them for now which seems to have solved the problem though. The plywood is 18mm structural hardwood ply, not the posh stuff - this cost around £50 for a 2440mm x 1220mm.
Very nice my friend. Good to see a new video for this week. I almost feel like you have missed a trick here by not using your router to build your router station? Maybe make a shelf insert for the top shelf to stop your router from falling off? Everyone’s a critic…
Ha, yes there is a certain irony in the fact I didn't use my router to make this - I should have used it for the slots at least but bottled it! Something to stop the router falling off is a good idea :-)
nicely made , a few tips put some bee/candlevwax on the runnergroove , it will run smoother. tip 2 for the routers bits write down width and depth/size of them at the holes saves times when choosing the one you want , trust me i know 😁
I've just put some wax on the drawers and they're running smoothly - thanks for the tip! Good suggestion on the labelling of my bits too, I need to get on that.
Hi Adam Great video, what software did you use for making your plans it’s really clear and simple to understand? Maybe a video on making plans could be good.
Hi @waynebrooks9445. Thanks for the video idea - I'll make some content on this for sure. I use a combination of Fusion 360 and Adobe Indesign. I use the free version of Fusion 360 to model all my projects and I create the drawings with that too. I then export the drawings into Adobe Indesign to create the plans as a pdf for people to download if they want to. It's a little clunky to be honest (lots of copy and pasting) and the plans take a while to produce but it's quite fun - I pop my headphones on and away I go.
Hi, Fab design! Thank you for the detailed video and sharing the plans. I'm curious to learn more about your process. What software do you use for creating the plans and designs? Cheers!
Thanks @bradjones5266, glad you liked the video! I've got a video coming soon on my design process actually as a few people have asked me about that. I use the free version of Fusion 360 to model the designs, so I can see how it will go together and figure out the best way to build it. I create the drawings in Fusion too but then I export them into Adobe InDesign to create the free plans. It's a little clunky to be honest, I wish I could do it all in Fusion but it's working well enough for now. Hope this helps!
Thank you Mark! It's surreal that you have commented on my video because your channel was one of the inspirations behind me starting my UA-cam adventure - I've been subscribed to your channel for a little over a year now and have watched it grow at a remarkable pace, well done!
My only concern here is that you're putting that very short dowel, a very small distance into end grain 18mm ply. On a dry fit, or empty use such as this, it should be fine. Over time, the weight of the accessories drawer is going to start to pull apart that 18mm ply. My suggestions, longer dowel for more support, or even a second higher groove with another dowel. Lovely idea. Cheers.
Yeah, it is quite short and I think there is a risk there. Also, I wish I'd made the drawer boxes slightly narrower as they occasionally catch on the sides as you might have seen in the video.
@@shed_time also if you get some racking of the drawer as you push then it seems like the rear vertical corners of the drawer boxes would jam into the walls of the cabinet. You might mitigate it by rounding off those rear, outside, vertical corners of the drawer boxes. Or if you built alignment runners into the shelf that the drawer rides on and on base of drawer, then that might fix alignment.
@YTubeSDD This is a good idea but they couldn't run the full length of the drawer as it would affect the ability of the drawer to drop down. So 3/4 of the length of the drawer flush to the back of the cabinet.
Great build, just found your UA-cam channel and great diy content look forward to more videos.
Thanks Simon, appreciate that!
@@shed_time I look forward to your next project. 👍
As soon as I have finished my work bench for my first workshop/garage. I will be making this 😊

@@shed_time😂 sounds good brother. I’ll be waiting expectedly for the George Washington teeth.
Cheers, from New York. 👍
Smart idea might even give a go. Keep up good work 👍
thank you @steedMORGAN :-) and good luck with the build if you do try it out.
Awesome viewing once again! I’d love a shed tour too💪
Thank you mate! By popular demand I think a shed tour will be my next video by the looks of it!

@shed_time awesome, cant wait to see your sled... i need to make a new one, my old tablesaw died, need to make another one for my new tablesaw
Great project and great build. I'm definitely stealing your idea and building this for my router storage. Keep the great content coming.
@dannywestgate7652 I'm really glad you liked the project and steal away! let me know how you get on if you do decide to build it.
This idea is genius! And the fact that you’re sharing the plans for free? Definitely getting another subscriber to watch the rest of your great videos

this video was pretty emotional for me
In a good way...?
Great build Adam. Love the tilting draws, very useful.
Thanks mate, still need to make that mud kitchen! I did make my wife a potting table the other day though that turned out quite nice.
Level of editing is outrageous🙌🏽 keep it up!
Love how the drawers open.
