I love this pattern! I found a way to make it seamless, each row ending up at exactly the same place, making this gorgeous pattern even prettier. (1) At the beginning of a row, after joining with a slip stitch, I TURN to go back in the opposite direction. (2) I then start the next row with a chainless stacked dc (find instructions on UA-cam) instead of a chain. If I am in the ribbing section, I make that stacked dc around the post. (Mark the stitch for ease of recognition.) 3. When you start the next row, you will slip stitch into the top of the stacked dc of the previous row, then again TURN and start the row once again with a new stacked dc. ANOTHER TIP: When joining the work after the first row, if you don't seam up the whole side, only join at the bottom, you can easily work your post stitch around that first stitch in the next row without being blocked by a seam. Thank you for this pattern!
I’m making the mock turtle neck, works good with my uniform peacoat I have to wear at work. Just a suggestion for the first DC in each round that is 3 chains, try making a front post single crochet, then chain 2. It helps pull that stitch out a little and look more like a fpdc.
I’m working on making 5 of these for Christmas gifts. I added yarn fringe. This looks cute with the points in the front or off the shoulders. Thank you for your easy to follow instructions.
Rhonda, all those colors look great on you! I will make the the 8 row and the regular size to start! I have to finish some projects first! I can’t wait! God Bless! 🤗🧶💜
This is a great idea. I hike in a lot of cold weather, I could make the neck long that folds over to cover my mouth. We can make in many forms. Thanks for the idea .
Thank you for the easy tutorial love it And I also love the color of your yarn that you used🥰 I like how mine came out perfect I used the yarn that I had and it was fall colors that you I enjoyed your teaching ❤️
Im a new crocheter- not a lot of experience really but I just must try this! I'll follow your instructions re yarn exactly because I want this exact poncho Thx for sharing🥰. I'll start with blue
Hi there I just subscribed to your UA-cam channel I love the way you explain in detail and how you take your time 😊I just saw you thank you so very much for sharing your tutorials I was wandering if you have a Facebook page so I can post my pictures 😊
Hi Deborah 🥰 Yes, if it’s similar to the mandala yarn which is a size 3 it will work great. I used a size I/9 hood for all three ponchos. Let me know how it turns out. Happy crocheting 🧶💝
You can do whatever works best for you. This is the method I chose to make it reversible, if you do it your way, you’ll have a wrong and right side. It’s totally up to you 🧶🥰
This is a gorgeous pattern! I would like to try to make it with the Lion Brand Mandala yarn you showed at the beginning of the video. Would you recommend using a 5.5 mm hook even though Mandala is a #3 weight yarn? I see that the Yarn Bee is a #4 weight.
Hi Melissa! Thank you so much! I used a 5.5 mm hook for all the ponchos I showed in the video. They all turned out beautifully. If you are a loosed crocheter you can go down one size for your hook. Just make sure you have enough yarn. I used 2 skeins for each one, so if you need a larger size you’ll need one extra skein. Please keep me posted 💝 Happy crocheting 🧶🥰
Yes, but it it will turn out much larger. Email me at sparklyone60@gmail.com for my free pattern, as it will help you to adjust the size & make sure to watch the entire video 🧶🥰
Hi Jodie, I think it will make a medium size shawl, but a little on the thicker side like the pink one. Keep me posted on your finished shawl. I’m sure it will be beautiful 😍
Hi Pat 😀 I would make a ch of 80 and make the first row of double crochets and put it around your head and see if you are good with that size. You can also use a J hook and that will make it a little larger. Hope that helps. Please comment again with your progress, as I know that it helps so many others 🥰🙌🏻 Happy crocheting 🧶😘
I just finished crocheting my turtle neck neck warmer thank you so much it was very easy and fun 😊I wish I could show it to you do you have Facebook? I could post it on Facebook 😊
11:40am...80 year old granny here. Made the dickey to 15 inch depth in school colors. It's awesome. Thank you so much for your expertise.
Aw, you are so welcome 🤗 I’m so happy you made one! I bet it will get lots of compliments 🥰👏🏻🧶

Beautiful poncho. Thank you for the video. One question - I’m not sure what to do at the points - why do you turn your work ?
Thank you so much for this teaching! Is it ok to make single crochet border or just leave as is?? Your opinion matters
Hi Susan! Either way it will be lovely 🥰💖🌸🧶
Crochet 4 sort ones💐👌❤️

Thanks Rhonda for reply and I will start today love your channel.. Many blessings to you and yours.
You are so sweet! Thank you so much! Blessings to you and your family as well 😘 💖 🙏
Nice pattern. Why do we flip the work? Can I not work on the same side for all the rows?
You can do whatever works best for you. This is the method I chose to make it reversible, if you do it your way, you’ll have a wrong and right side. It’s totally up to you 🧶🥰
Would this work with a chunky yarn? Really like the mock turtleneck!
Absolutely! You may have to decrease the stitches because it will turn out larger. But, try it on as you go to make sure it fits you.
Thank you!

Is it possible to make a poncho with blanket yarn?
Yes, but it it will turn out much larger. Email me at sparklyone60@gmail.com for my free pattern, as it will help you to adjust the size & make sure to watch the entire video 🧶🥰
Thanks for sharing your pattern. Just bought Caron cakes in buttercream and 383 yards, will 2 skeins be enough for a full poncho.
Hi Jodie, I think it will make a medium size shawl, but a little on the thicker side like the pink one. Keep me posted on your finished shawl. I’m sure it will be beautiful 😍
@@SparklyOne just started it a while ago. Thank you so much, more power to you
I’m so excited with this project. A big big thanks to you, Rhonda
Can this be made in a bigger size for 2x or won’t that matter?
