Love this recipe. I am going to try it this week. I have looked everywhere for a recipe that is close to what I remember my Hungarian grandparents and mother making. I see others saying that your recipe is not traditional as it doesn’t have tomatoes, etc in it, however, your recipe was how our family made it also. Whether it’s right or wrong, it doesn’t matter, this is traditionally how I remember it. They even made the noodles, but for soup. I will try them in this too. Thanks for posting. 😀

This is the closest to the way my family makes it. I use bacon grease. And no green peppers or tomatoes

@@HugoandDaddyCooking in America we would use sour cream for the sauce and double it and doubled the dumplings because we would eat just those in the sauce.

If you can't get fat back and leave and I can get fat back in Maine! Manteca or beef tallow would work as well. :-) you could add a few drops of liquid smoke but only three drops because his fat back is smoked. I can buy fatback at a local farm but it's not smoked so I add three drops of liquid smoke and it works very well. :-)

@@HugoandDaddyCooking ok, but this is not the biggest problem with this meal but the lack of two essential ingredients:
      Hungarian wax pepper (zöldpaprika)
      and tomato.
without these ingredients there is no chicken paprikash.
or there is but it should not be called traditional because it just isn't.
