    Great outfits and newly added information Mr. Host and Honorable guest. We now know how he got the title OSAGYEFO. Can we have a history lesson of his times in prison and brief autobiography about Dr.Nkrumah on the languages he used in the Gold Coast to communicate with the uneducated folks. Also was his Surname NGOLOMA and why did he change his traditional name from Kofi to Kwame?

    • @kafuideymc
      @kafuideymc  6 місяців тому +4

      Most definitely!

    • @amoahfrank5162

      Before he does... Ngoloma is the same name as Nkrumah but in Nzema. The name Nkrumah (traditional meaning Nineth born son) is the same Nzema version Ngoloma (the first 'o' in ngoloma is silent so the pronounciation is as close as ngloma/ngroma/nkroma). The name emanate from the Number 9 that is "Ngola" in Nzema and "Nkron" in Twi/fantse. So "Ngola ma" (nzemaa) or "Nkron ma" (twi) translate nineth children/persons or people. So the norminalized form of "Ngola ma" when pronounced as one word becomes "Ngol'ma" the A completely silenced. So phonetically with the Nzema tone it becomes "Ngroma or Ngoloma but with the first 'o' silent when pronouncing".
      However, over the years, through akan standardization of names all variant of the same name was represented or written as Nkrumah (by all akans). This (Nkrumah with the letter h at the end) becomes the standard spelling for all variant distinguishable from the spelling Nkroma/Nkromah (which could mean Eagles or falcons) or worse Nkruma (which could mean okra/okro).
      What people should equally know is that, Nkrumah did not necessarily changed his surname. Because for the records, sometimes his name was spelled Nkromah, Ngromah, Ngoloma, Ngruema/Nguema etc. but all signifying the same standardized name Nkrumah. Therefore that spelling Ngoloma has no relation or link to any other african names like Ngolo (which is pronounced N G O L O as in Ngolo Kante). That misconception has gone on for years, simply because our Educational system does not take much interest in the ethnic diversity we have in Ghana else all these misconception would not come in public discourse at all.
      And of course Nkrumah shortening his name to Kwame was not arbitrary. Indeed, a careful read of his autobiography reveals the certainty of his day of birth to be saturday and that he was likely born on 1912 as his mother will claim (rather than the adopted 1909). The nuances of his age is understandable, as Nkrumah was not born in a rich family; the date of birth did not interest them that much until a white teacher may ask of date of birth for academic purpose, in which case people usually do guess work in those days).
      Nkrumah makes it clear of the nuances of his age in his autobiography but again Ghanaians or Ghana government has no interest of reality hence the brouhaha on some of these thngs.
      I think lawyer Anokye will give full details of some of these things in another set with Hon. Kafui Dey God willing.
      Anyways, I am an Engineer who is also cursed with the love of history, research into history and titbits of the past. I pray to one day be like lawyer Anokye, who despite his legal profession, is also cursed with the love of history.😍

    Nkrumah described himself as a "scientific socialist", not a communist. In fact, in his book, he states that socialist ideas that does NOT work should be abandoned and those that work adopted or continued.
