- Buick Encore GX Engine oil and filter change 1.3 liter. This oil change on the 2020 Buick Encore GX is the easiest oil change I have ever seen. PF 66 filter by AC Delco and Pennzoil 0w20 full synthetic. #Vegasdavetv #howtochangeoil
Thanks for this video, Sir! I just did this today for my wife's Buick Encore using this video. Awesome video!!
I noticed when I first watched your video that the oil filler cap must have been on the way it was draining. I have always unscrewed the filler cap to make the oil flow out of the pan faster. When doing it on the Encore GX 1.3L DO NOT open the filler cap when you drain the oil. It will for sure come out fast, REALLY fast and a lot at one time. It splashed my mat and my shirt. It was like dumping water out of a bucket with the force and the amount that came out at one time but everything else went fine and quick. I used ramps and it was very easy to get to everything. I wondered if I should put the cover back over the hole or not and did but I'm sure those three screws are going to get stripped sooner or later. My Hyundai just had the holes where the filter and drain plug were. Thank you for posting this video, it was a big help. I am also a big fan of the new drain plug, no over tightening and no gasket to replace. I wonder how long it will last and I might look for an extra one to have around.
great comment
Looks easy but the plastic makes me nervous! Thanks for your video, about to do the first change on my wife’s brand new Encore and thought I’d better consult UA-cam first! Lol
Yo I’m doing an oil change on my girl encore today hmu
@@DreDent-v4d mine went well,no problems, just be gentle with that damn plastic drain plug! Good luck
Thank you for doing the video. I just pickup a used 2020 Encore GX AWD with same color as your. I am looking forward to do my own oil changes as well so this video helps a bit. Thanks
you're welcome
I just changed mine at 5000 miles. Not bad but the oil filter was a beating. Got a 74 mm at Auto Zone, wouldn't work, kept slipping. Got a 76 mm at O'Rileys and after a fight it finally came off. Then I had to pry the filter off the wrench. Hopefully from now on it will be easy. None of the auto parts stores had the air filter so I had to pay $34 for it at a stealership. Napa had a cabin filter believe it or not. Thanks for the video!
What size socket extension to remove drain plug? 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2?
Let's clarify a few things. Good video. Buick has a requirement for you to have your first oil changed by them or they will not log your warranty - super important to have this done. On a 1.3 engine it is 4.8 quarts. That is 4 quarts and 25.6 ounces. So pour (remove) 6.4 ounces out of your 5 quart container and the rest is the correct amount to go into your engine.
Well, I'm assuming GM (Buick) does that 1st oil change for completely free, otherwise that's illegal. 👍
Beautiful concrete driveway, why not put a piece of cardboard down to catch any drips or spills?
Thanks for the video! Saved me lots of time and headache!
Thank you for this video, it was helpful to me.👍
thank you
i got the trailblazer awd 2024 whit the same engine and i like mine i like to know do you like yours so far
I have the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer and it has the same engine and Transmission.
They do tighten the hell out of the oil filters at the factory.
ABSOLUTELY
Thank you!
How is that the easiest oil change? You had to take a 3 screw panel off, then a weird oil screw that soaked your glove before it came out, then putting the panel back on... A chevy silverado you just undo a drain screw and put it back in. Took 5 min and not a drop is left plus no gloves needed. I have the same buick but still just 1800 miles so I do appreciate the video.
I said easiest I've done
@@vegasdavetv Haha. You did say that but added you did like 100. I'm thankful you did the video and shared it.
Good grief, any negative commenters just make your own video so we can critique the crap out of it.
So I bought the same oil and filter as you but I now found out I have the 1.2 liter engine and not the 1.3 liter. I haven’t used the products I bought but am I still able to ? Or do I have to return them and get different ones
I'm not sure on that
do you need the special gm oil filter wrench for this car? i had to buy one for my 2012 verano and don’t know if i need one for the 2020 encore
I used a basic one
Interesting how they went back to the spin on style filter(which is a plus), but they took a step back with that drain plug and the stupid plastic cover over it.
Hey I have a question ik you need to put 4.8 quarts of oil I did as mentioned but when I checked how much oil I took out I only took out about 4 to 4.1 quarts of oil does that mean I put in to much than I took out !?
Nope, that baby burns oil so you will get less oil.
@@tousshong9438 is that a bad thing to take to the dealership!?
@@joseRodriguez-pk9ld No, all cars nowadays burns a little bit of oil but if it burns 1 quartz or more then you need to have dealer look at it, if it's 's under warranty.
Добрый день скиньте пожалуйста видео как поменять в коробке масло.
The only thing I would have done differently than was done in this video, with the oil capacity being 4.8 quarts, and the amount of oil in the container he had being 5.0 quarts, I would have just gone ahead and put the 5 quarts in. Too small of a difference to cause any problems; I've been changing my own oil for over 30 years and will sometimes go a little over the capacity. I'm fully aware of problems that can result from filling the crankcase with too much oil, but you're hardly going to even notice that 2/10th difference on the dipstick when you check the oil.
good luck with that 1.3 turbo
@tonywhite425 ya no doubt. lol
thanks for the info .
I have the encore gx st 2021 1.2L so what filter does it use?
go to your dealer to verify that one. I'm not sure and don't want to say since I'm not sure
so i would just need a socket extension?
yes
Ty sir.
New GM purchases offer free oil changes for the first year. Why wouldn’t you take advantage of that??
I was not told that, but I do believe you and I'm sure if I went to dealership they would be free. problem is, 35 miles and hour drive.. plus wait time. really not worth it to me, gas, time, cheaper to do it
I wouldn't trust dealerships on doing anything. Just did my first oil change on my new Toyota Highlander after having them do it for two years and i had to gently use my impact on the filter canister because I couldn't get it with the breaker bar.. it should have been this hard, torque specs is only 30 ft lbs with I'm sure they were just running it in and out with an impact. Smh but nice work on this.
Well I just had the dealership do the first oil change on our new GX and after that experience I'll be doing my own from now on. A free oil change got us a filthy carpet and scratched door panel from the slob who pulled it out, an undercarriage that is scratched to hell from the dope who used metal lift feet without placing them in the correct places, and oil spills down the engine up top from what I assume was the lack of a funnel to fill. If that's what the free oil change is, I'll pass thank you. It cost me more work than anything. Highly disappointed in the response from them.
So I say they can stick their free freely up their a$$. Good grief.
Ya no thank you. Most dealers buy bulk oil so it’s cheaper but that oil god knows what’s in it and sometimes they mislabel them so their putting bad or different oil into your vehicle. I recommend buying the oil and oil filter yourself and take it to a mechanic friend. Or do it yourself. I recommend buying mobil1’s full synthetic oil. It honestly is one of the best. And I also recommend changing the oil every 5k mi or less despite what any dealer/manufacturer/oil company tells you. If it says protection up to 15k mi or 20k mi, don’t listen. Change it every 5k miles. Trust me it’s worth it in the long run.
You get 1 free oil change from GM.
hmmmmm early oil changes are a waste ok if you say so😂
