I would doubt that verse 22 from surah Al-Mujadila includes those who went so far to kill prophets grandchildren, but you can believe that if you want. You are making the mistake of thinking that Muawiyah and Ali had different versions of Islam, which isn't true. Despite their political differences, they believed the same things and practiced the same acts of worship. That's why they are both salaf, and this is true for ALL of the sahaba and tabieen.
