The singer of Pentagram, Bobby Liebling, was a heavy drug user which lead to the demise of the band Pentagram. Eventually a documentary was done showing his drug addiction and self destructive tendencies, all along while living in his parents basement. Two fans directed the film and intended to save Liebling from himself and reunite Pentagram to receive the praise and recognition they deserved as a pioneer of doom metal. Awesome film it’s called “last days here” if you wanna check it out, crazy story of loss and redemption. This song to me is about Bobby himself, how he had so much going for him and was a fingertip away from achieving his dream all to see it crash and burn around him all at his own hand. I think “the pentagram” and imagery in the song relates to how everyone is trying so hard for him, and although he wants to make it and enjoy the fruits of his labor with his band mates he just can’t as if by hex or some other force causing this.

It makes me so happy that bobby is finally getting some recognition for everything he did for metal and that he isnt consumed by addiction or the pentagram. The man deserves to be in the Rock and roll hall of fame.

In the 1941 film The Wolf Man, the pentagram is the mark of the werewolf, hence the song title Sign Of The Wolf. The pentagram is also on the wall of the pub The Slaughtered Lamb in the movie An American Werewolf In London.
